My stash grew a little too big, so I knew it was time to donate my extra items. All items were new products that I: had duplicates of, was not interested in trying, or tried in the past and did not love. It is also a good idea to donate items when you have things that will expire before you can get to them. Giving them to someone who can use them is better than tossing them after they’ve expired while waiting in your stash. Many of the items I donated were items I may have tried if they did not expire so soon.
I joined a BzzAgent Campaign featuring five Paula’s Choice samples I needed to share with other beauty lovers. This was the perfect time to start a traveling box. After selecting 14 ladies I trust, I selected the items I wanted to donate along with the five free Paula’s Choice samples and mailed them to the first lady on my list. She removed the items she wanted and added items she wanted to donate. Each lady did the same until the last lady made her trades and returned the box to me. Once all 15 of us selected items we wanted to trade for, there were plenty of extra items to donate. That means this donation was the collaborative gift of 15 people.
Some of you may have already read Beautytalk and How It Pays to be a Member. Well, courtesy of Formula X owner, Kendo, it is paying again. It appears Sephora sent the vast majority of Beautytalk members were gifted a free Formula X The System to Go Set. The set contains 4 0.1oz nail polishes and retails for $16. While this thread clearly demonstrates some are still waiting, I have a good feeling most people will be victorious in receiving a set. Thus far, responders have only reported to receiving Alive, the set with peach-pink polish, and Pyrotechnic, the set with red polish. I am watching the thread to see if anyone receives Thrilling, the set with gray polish.
If you have not received yours yet but have ever created a Beautytalk account, there is a good chance that yours is on the way. The first reports of this lovely gift were dated five days ago, but I only received mine yesterday. With thousands of users, it makes sense that they are staggering mailings. It does not appear closeness to Kendo has anything to do with the timely manner in which you will receive the item either. My package was mailed from 525 Market Street, 15th Floor, San Francisco, CA 94105. Although I live in the next state over, people in Canada (yes, Canadians are not excluded) received theirs before I received mine. There was even a user who reported receiving one at her UK address.
For anyone who did not read the previous installments, I made a goal to paint my nails at least once a week this year. Installment one went over my polish collection among other things. Then, I embarked on the challenge in the next installment. If you want to join my in the challenge, follow along here or you can visit the Beautytalk challenge. Nail polish Saturday was born. If you’re looking at the calendar, you realize it is Sunday. No worries though, because I did paint them yesterday and just waited until today to share them.
Julep released a lovely new color named Becky. Gwen (a BeauyTalk friend of mine) mentioned Becky looked similar to Blakely. I had not yet used Blakely even though I owned her. After discussing the two with Gwen, my first plan was to paint one hand in Becky and the other in Blakely to compare the two. Once Becky started arriving for people, I noticed she was swatching differently than I had seen Becky swatch. Fearing a mismatched manicure, Gwen suggested I do Blakely on the ring finger of each hand and Becky on the other fingers. It was a great idea, so that is exactly what I did.
If you read my last nail polish installment, you may remember that I entered a nail polish challenge to keep me motivated to paint regularly and use some of the polishes I have collecting dust. My goal is not to repeat any (not counting base and top coats) until I have tried them all. I’d also like to paint at least once a week. As Julep makes it so easy to collect quality polishes at incredible prices, I own more Julep than any other brand. I asked the readers to pick the polish color for this week, and I was happy to start with a Julep color. Continue reading →
My hands are not the best, so I have a love/hate relationship with nail polish. On the one hand (sorry that I could not help the pun), unkempt hands get ignored. That way, no one notices them. At the same time, all hands look better with a nice manicure and a little polish. Yes, more people will notice them, but at least they will look as good as they can. So, I invite all of you on my journey to keep my rough, man-hands polished as much as possible. I’ve joined a nail polish challenge and plan to paint my nails at least once a week for the remainder of 2015.
Nail polish Saturday will be my new “thing.” I started collecting nail polish in May 2013. Prior to that, I only owned a couple of older bottles that I tossed when my new collection started. That means my current collection is all less than two years old with some being very near the two year mark and others that just arrived today. My newest haul from Julep just came in with two polishes and a plush pout. Of course, I will always swatch new items for you.
