Tips For Getting the Best Deal lays out every way I can think of to save money at Julep.

Julep polishes are thicker (and typically more opaque depending on the finish) than your average polish, so only apply one coat (when possible). If you apply one coat on top of a base coat and seal it with a top coat, you can go 7+ days chip free depending on how much you use/wash your hands. Each coat you apply reduces wear time, because it makes the application a lot thicker. When polish gets too thick, it peels away faster.

-The rewards program awards Jules for some purchases. Mavens get Jules each month just for accepting the box. It is usually 350 Jules, but they sometimes award more if shipping is delayed. Julep awards 200 Jules for your birthday and 500 Jules for your membership anniversary. If you spend $50 in the secret store, you will get 2000 bonus Jules. Use those Jules for a free box or discounted add ons to your box. You will also get three days ahead of Mavens who do not select the box to shop the secret store. Secret Store items can be cheaper the first three days and some even sell out quickly. That makes the advanced shopping window a great perk.

-Mavens, remember these important dates. Maven selection window is from the 20th to the 24th. The Secret Store is usually open the last three days of each month for Mavens who are taking the upcoming box, and the first three days of the month for all Mavens. Subscription charges are billed on the 27th.

-Still trying to decide whether or not to join the Julep Maven Subscription Box Program? Read my program review.

Mavens get 20% off (which applies automatically when you’re signed in) all full-price Julep products (not just polish). That means the starting price for a full-price polish is $14 for an average shopper, but $11.20 for a Maven. This discount combines with any of the promo codes on my Julep Page, so Mavens pay less for polish that has not been discounted. The Maven discount does not apply to items already discounted, because they are usually discounted deeper than the 20% off.

-When joining, you have up to four options (depending on the links you select). For links that have options, make sure you select the one you want at the bottom of the screen. 1) Receive a nice welcome gift with a full price subscription. 2) Pay $12.49 for the first box with free shipping. It will automatically renew every month you receive a box at the rate of $24.99 (you can skip months and alter box options after the first box). 3) Pay $39.98 for three boxes up front. That makes your first box free and you are prepaying $19.99 each for the second and third box (you can skip months and alter box options after the first box). It will automatically renew at $59.97 ($19.99 per box) after you’ve redeemed three boxes. 4) Pay $83.30 for six boxes up front. That makes your first box free and you are prepaying $16.66 each for the second though sixth boxes (you can skip months and alter box options after the first box. It will automatically renew at $99.96 after you’ve redeemed six boxes. This is the newest option and is not always available. You can select the 3 box option and change to this once you’re subscribed. Starting in August 2016, some states will have to pay sales tax for their subscriptions. I am in Nevada, so I am one of the lucky states that get to pay added sales tax.

-In order to get the best deal, I suggest paying multiple months up front. This is what I do. It saves 20-33% per box. If you choose the start-up savings over the free gift, you also get the first box free instead of paying $12.49 for it. For those who are unsure they want to commit to a three or six month subscription, paying $12.49 for the first box or selecting the free gift are better options. Just remember, the monthly plan will auto renew at a higher rate than a longer plan, so it is not the best deal for someone looking for a long-term subscription.

Current start up links. Only the promo code listed in the link will work, so select the option you want, click on that link, and enter the promo code from the link before checking out. If you enter a promo code from a different link or forget to add the promo code, the deal will not apply.
