Birchbox November 2019 Review – A New Kind of Holiday List And a Coupon Code

My November 2019 Birchbox review is ready. Birchbox subscriptions get customized to your beauty profile. All boxes are a mixture of haircare, makeup, and skincare. There are times when body care items pop up, and you can select an option to receive no more than 6 fragrance vials a year in your profile. You could get a box with 2 haircare items, 2 makeup items, and 1 skincare item or any similar variety, but you will rarely see more than 2 items from any category unless the third is a foil. If you are looking for a box that is mostly makeup or mostly skincare, this is not it. Those looking for a well-rounded sample box may enjoy this subscription.

FabFitFun For Him VIII – FabFitFun Men’s Box 3 Winter 2019

I am here to bring you the Winter 2019 FabFitFun Men’s Box 3 review. It is the Winter 2019 FabFitFun for Him VIII Edition. When the Winter 2019 add-ons opened up, this was a purchase option for $49.99. That gave me the opportunity to get my husband another FabFitFun box of his own. His first was the Winter 2018/2019 Men’s Gift Box, which was the initial box. The second box came out in Summer 2019, and I purchased him that one as well. This is the their iteration, so he’s received all of them so far. If one he is not interested in ever pops up, I will not buy it. Yes, I show him the items before I purchase it, because he is really picky.

FabFitFun Fall 2019 Edit Sale Haul Review

My FabFitFun Fall 2019 Edit Sale Haul Review is ready. There is an event between the seasonal subscription boxes called the FabFitFun Edit Sale. This is a subscriber only event where FabFitFun members can shop for items discounted 25%-70% off. For those who love add-ons, this is akin to purchasing add-ons without a subscription box. It also means subscribers who are not interested in any items or need a break for financial reasons can just sit this out. For mainland US subscribers who choose to shop, they get free shipping with a $25 purchase. Like add-ons, you add the items you want to your cart throughout the sale and only pay for the ones that are still in your cart once the event wraps. The Edit Sale opened to select members at 9am on September 23rd and all members at 9am on September 26th. Shopping closed at 11:59pm on September 30th and all members were charged on October 1st.

Walmart Beauty Box Fall 2019 Review – Trendsetter Subscription Box

My Fall 2019 Walmart Beauty Box review is ready. I’m happy it got mailed earlier in this season, so there is more space between this and the Winter 2019 Walmart Beauty Box. This is a subscription box that gives you the items for free as long as you pay $5 for the shipping. Your first $5 charges when you subscribe, and a box from the current season will ship to you within a few weeks. Future boxes will incur the $5 charge as the box ships. While this box gets released each season, the release date always varies. Walmart will email you before it releases to remind you to update your account information. Sometimes, it sends boxes right after you update. Other times, it will tell email you to update your account, then still wait weeks to ship your box.

FabFitFun Fall 2019 Editor’s Box Review

My FabFitFun Fall 2019 Editor’s Box review is ready. I ordered the FabFitFun Fall 2019 Editor’s Box yesterday for $49.99 when the ability to customize the first five categories opened in the shop. Only random boxes were available in the Edit Sale for $39.99, and even with the $10 off, I did not think that was a good deal. The ability to customize really makes all the difference. As far as I know, there is not a code to start with this box yet. That means this box is only available for current subscribers to purchase separately. New subscribers will start with the Fall Box, but they can order this from the shop immediately after joining.

Birchbox Customer Appreciation Day is September 18th 2019, but the Party Starts Today

Birchbox Customer Appreciation Day in 2019 is taking place on September 18th, but the party officially kicks off today. It was the first subscription box to make an impact on the multi-billion dollar a year beauty industry. Many, including Birchbox, consider it the Original Beauty Box. A lot of subscription box addicts began our addiction to boxes thanks to Birchbox. Well, I’ve never had more than six unique subscriptions at a time, so I am a subscription box amateur. Though I’ve explained why I like subscription boxes, I feel like they are only a part of getting the best deal. Thus, I cannot see myself ever having too many subscriptions. Then again, some might say one is too many. I began my subscription journey in February 2014 with Birchbox. It is the only subscription I’ve had this long. Others have come and gone.

Birchbox August 2019 Review of Swap For Full Size Plus Subscription Box Offers

My August 2019 Birchbox review is ready.

Annual Birchbox Review

This is my August 2019 Birchbox review, but you can see a synopsis of a year of Sephora Play Box reviews vs a year of Birchbox reviews. Every year, I review my $10 boxes (for me at least) against each other, so I can declare the annual winner. This is also helpful for those who would like to see a year of reviews for either box in one place. Birchbox did raise its prices for select members, but it is still $10 for me. For those who are not ACES on the $10 plan, I will consider that when I do the annual comparison for 2019.

About the Birchbox Subscription

The $10-$15 charge processes immediately for new subscribers and on the 1st in succeeding months. Boxes usually ship from the 8th through the 12th. At the end of every month (actual date varies), Birchbox will email an option to select a sample (from a choice of 3-5 items), or the featured box where you know all samples up front. Those who respond to that email can also opt out of one type of sample. If you want a sample choice and the featured box, I suggest making a choice and purchasing the featured box separately. Subscribers can review 5 samples for 10 points each once during the lifetime of the account. Those who pay full-price for their subscriptions up front get points to use toward shop purchases. People who use a discount code on up front subscriptions will not get points. No one on a month-to-month plan gets points for the subscription either. The amount spent for the subscription goes toward the $300 annual minimum to achieve Aces status.

August 2019 Birchbox Theme

Birchbox makes a custom box design for each month. I would pick the full size product shipped in an outer box on the month they are doing throwbacks. Members can get a box design from any month in the past. The Rifle Paper ones are my favorite. It would have been nice to have a shot at another.

The first thing you normally see when you open a Birchbox is a product card. This was the first time it was a piece of paper. It wants us to turn it into a fortune teller paper, so I am guessing the cardboard will return next month.

The back of the card goes over the theme, Old-School Summertime. This might have been fun in the July Box. Since my kids started school this week, I do not want to dream about summer vacations. It’s hard to believe there is still more than a month of summer left. Someone forgot to tell the school.

Contents are loose inside the box with a single piece of black foam at the bottom and a single sheet of tissue paper encircling the items. The tissue does seem to help the items from moving around a lot.

There was also a subscriber’s only coupon offer inside the box. If you arrive after the expiration date and need a code, check this article.

August 2019 Birchbox Sample Choices

The three items to choose from were: amika Bushwick Beach No-Salt Wave SprayPūrlisse Watermelon Energizing Sheet Mask, or ModelCo LIP PLUMPER Hydra Lip Therapy. There were three options for the curated boxes.

Curated Box 1- Test the Water, includes: R+Co HIGH DIVE Moisture + Shine CrèmeIBY Beauty BlushSmashbox Cosmetics Photo Finish Primer Water, Dr. Lipp Original Nipple Balm for Lips, and too cool for school Coconut Oil Serum Eye Patch.

Curated Box 2- Back to Business, includes: Vasanti® BrightenUp!® Enzymatic Face RejuvenatorARROW BOOST Color Enhancing Lip Balm Berry Busy, MAC Cosmetics In Extreme Dimension 3D Black Lash Mascara, air repair Complexion-Boosting Moisturizer, and Oribe Grandiose Hair Plumping Mousse.

Curated Box 3- Summer Hits, includesLipstick Queen Dating Game LipstickCOOLA® Dawn Patrol™ Classic Primer SPF 30Lise Watier Intense Waterproof EyelinerJuliette Has a Gun Vanilla VibesIllamasqua Gel Sculpt Silhouette, and Living proof.® Perfect hair Day™ (PhD) 5-in-1 Styling Treatment.

Subscribers can always purchase these featured boxes separately for $15 if they want that and another option. Everyone can purchase a curated box for $20.

There was also an option to Swap Your Box For a Full-Size 8oz Beauty Protector Protect & Detangle.

Some members were given the option to swap the box for Birchbox Loyalty points. I get 1.3 points per dollar as an Ace, so I would never pay $10 for 100 points. That is equivalent of 1 point per dollar.

My choice was the swap for full-size option.

My August 2019 Birchbox Subscription Review

My box was 65871096. Because I swapped for a full-size product, my box only has one item. Prior to my July 2019 Birchbox, every box I’ve received since the April relaunch had at least one full-size product in it. That means forfeiting the other five items was a risk. The main reason I decided to go for it is that I already know and love the full-size product. With tangle prone hair, I need a lot of leave-in conditioner.

The 8oz Beauty Protector Protect & Detangle retails for $23.50. I love the way this smells, but most importantly, it really helps detangle my hair. It also makes it a little softer and less frizzy than usual.

Was my August 2019 Birchbox worth it?

The August 2019 Birchbox has a $23.50 value. That brings the value for the average box in 2019 to $42.24. Had I selected a box I am almost certain this would have a higher starting value driving up the average box value for the year. I am happy with my selection and have no regrets. This particular full-size product is 8x the sample size Sephora sent me in the past. It will last me a long time. Paying $10 for a $23.50 product is over 50% off. With an amazing deal like that, I just hope Birchbox can sustain it. Let’s see which full size products it offers in place of the box next. If they are good ones, I will be all over that deal.

My personal value is $23.50, because I am keeping this. If I have any samples left, I might be willing to part with those. Thus is all mine though.

Sephora Play! July 2019 Review – Desert Island Essentials Subscription Box

It’s time for my Sephora Play July 2019 review. When I looked in my account on the 15th (the day the preview goes live), I had what I consider the best box for July. Imagine my disappointment when it arrived, and it was a different box. I was even more disappointed when one of my items was broken. This is not even an item I should have received if I got the box I should have. Getting a box that varies from the preview happened another time. Coincidentally, the preview was better than what I received that time as well. Sephora likes to tease me with the idea that I am getting the amazing box that month only to take it away from me. Yes, I am being dramatic. At least this time, Sephora corrected my box contents online, so they matched up when I looked on the 24th after the wrong box was delivered. The other time I got to see the superior box contents mocking me every time I logged into my profile.

Play! by Sephora is a subscription box that offers five deluxe beauty samples and a bonus foil packet or perfume vial for $10 a month plus tax. Shipping is free. Only items sold at Sephora come inside the Play! box so most items are from well-known, high-end brands. While Sephora does carry a few low-end and luxury brands, they do not really appear in the subscription boxes. There is not a traditional rewards program with this box so you cannot get points for referring friends or writing reviews. It does award 10 Beauty Insider points to Beauty Insiders, 12.5 points to VIB members, and 15 points to VIB Rouge members. This Play! box also applies $10 toward your purchase minimum to maintain your Beauty Insider status. Visit my Sephora page for descriptions on points and status. The $10 charge processes immediately for new subscribers and from the 1st through the 4th for succeeding months. Boxes usually ship from the 11th through the 15th.

Causebox Summer 2019 Welcome Box Review and a $10 Off Coupon Code

My Causebox Summer 2019 Welcome Box review is ready. I ordered this on July 13th, and it arrived on July 20th. That turnaround was very impressive. Considering I only had my original summer box eight days before this arrived, I had not even begun exploring that one. Causebox includes a mix of: exclusive, ethically made products from a wide range of items. They are always full-sized, and the value of the box will always be over $200. There are 6-8 full size items in every box. Each item is cruelty free, vegan whenever possible, and always socially conscious. This is a quarterly subscription program. There is one box per season. Welcome boxes are usually available between seasons. Those who sign up between seasonal boxes will get a welcome box. Those who sign up before the fall boxes get announced will get a version of this welcome box.

Birchbox July 2019 Review of Sample Choice Plus Subscription Box Offers

My July 2019 Birchbox review is ready.

Annual Birchbox Review

July 2019 Birchbox Theme

Birchbox makes a custom box design for each month. The lemon and orange design does give me summer vibes.

The first thing you normally see when you open a Birchbox is a product card.

The back of the card goes over the theme, love, you. It mentions that self care is different for everyone, and it is important for all. It wants us to get over what we’re self conscious about and embrace them.

Contents are loose inside the box with a single piece of black foam at the bottom and a single sheet of tissue paper encircling the items. The tissue does seem to help the items from moving around a lot.

July 2019 Birchbox Sample Choices

Some members were given the option to swap the box for Birchbox Loyalty points. I get 1.3 points per dollar as an Ace, so I would never pay $10 for 100 points. That is equivalent of 1 point per dollar.

My choice was the MAC Lipglass.

My July 2019 Birchbox Subscription Review

My July 2019 Birchbox review is from box version 65403394. It has 2 skincare products, two makeup products, one hair product, and one makeup-skincare hybrid.

The 0.08oz MAC Cosmetics Lipglass Prrr is worth $14. I prefer other formulas over this one, because it is a little sticky. It is not too sticky though, so I do not mind it.

This pinky-peach color is nice. It will look great this summer.

The 0.5oz Georgette Klinger Volcanic Mineral Scrub is worth $3.57. This seems interesting. I’ve never used an ash scrub.

The Hero Cosmetics Mighty Patch Invisible+ set of 6 is worth $2.77. I still get acne, so I like having these patches on hand. I’ve purchased these in the past. My nieces and nephews stole most of them, but I did like it. There is a brand I like more than this one, but I will use these (if they’re not stolen from me).

The 0.1oz Clarins Wonder Perfect Mascara 4D is worth $14. This is a mascara I have not tried yet, so I will probably hold onto it. My Sephora Box preview showed this but then it changed. Glad I got one anyway.

The 0.16oz Dr. Jart+ V7™ Priming Moisturizer is worth $4.54. I’ve been getting into priming moisturizers, because I find them even more hydrating than a hydrating primer. My skin can always use the extra boost. This is one I have not tried yet.

The 0.85oz Alterna CAVIAR Anti-Aging Restructuring Bond Repair Leave-In Heat Protection Spray is worth $6.48. This is a product I’ve wanted to try. It made me really happy to see it.

Was my July 2019 Birchbox worth it?

The July 2019 Birchbox has a $45.36 value. That brings the value for the average box in 2019 to $46.33. This is the first box since the price increase in April that does not have any full-size products. It also slightly brought down the average value for the year. I wish the trend with full-size products would have continued, because one extra sample is not enough to justify the price increase. There was also a curated box with only five products even though we are now promised six. That makes me wonder if there were any random boxes with less than six items.

My personal value is $45.36, because I will probably keep everything in the box. That makes it a successful box for me. A six for six hit on products I want to try does not happen often. Only one item of the six is a repeat to my collection. Because that is an item I like, I never mind getting more of it. There is nothing overly exciting in here other than the hair product, but I am still happy with this box.

What are your thoughts on my July 2019 Birchbox review? Do you think it is better than past boxes so far? Let me know below. If your purchase is over $25 (longer subscriptions or purchasing something from the shop with the subscription), you can pick a free item from the bonus shop if you do not use a subscription start-up offer or discount code, which I cover on my Birchbox Deals Page. Some discount codes on that page will not work on subscriptions, but I will post any that work on my Birchbox Subscription Deals Page. You can always add a free two piece sample pack when spending $35, because it combines with any promo code. Tips For Getting the Best Deal lays out all the ways I know to save money at Birchbox. Product reviews do not always make it into the haul article, but you can always type the product into the search bar to see if I’ve mentioned it or reviewed it elsewhere. Causebox Summer 2019 Review and a $10 Off Coupon Code

My Summer 2019 Causebox review is ready. Yes, I am reviewing it after it is no longer available for purchase. That is my bad, because I waited too long to order it. I did also order the Summer 2019 Welcome box. It seems like the Summer 2019 Causebox sold out on the 11th of July and my box arrived the next day.

FabFitFun Summer 2019 Editor’s Box Review Plus The Coupon Code to Start With This Box

My FabFitFun Summer 2019 Editor’s Box review is ready. I ordered my first box today, and I ordered my second box on July 18th. The shop reopened on the 16th as planned, but the Editor’s Box was not available for purchase until late in the day on the 17th. Members can now select all five options when they purchase from the shop, so we get more choices than the two category options we received in the Edit Sale. After making the calculated decision to pass on paying $49.99 for two options in the Edit Sale, I paid $39.99 for three options today when I got $10 off using the promo code COOL. That is a code designated for the Summer Editor’s Box. Please note that the Summer 2019 Box is still in stock. If you use a code not designated to an Editor’s Boxyou will start with a summer box. Well, I also paid $10 for an extra customization in category one, so it was like I got a free item and an extra pick for the same $49.99. I did pay the full $49.99 on the 18th for a second box, so I could make all five choices without opening a second annual subscription.

Sephora Play! June 2019 Review – Destination Beauty Subscription Box

It’s time for my Sephora Play June 2019 review. Play! by Sephora is a subscription box that offers five deluxe beauty samples and a bonus foil packet or perfume vial for $10 a month plus tax.

FabFitFun Summer 2019 Starter Box Review

See the latest box, FabFitFun Starter Box 16 Fall 2019.

I am here to share the latest 2019 FabFitFun Starter Box Review. This is the third variation I’ve reviewed this year. The photos and products belong to one of the people I sent a Starter Box to. Two of these are products I love, and I think the other two look nice. I do not have any starter boxes, but I will update this if that changes. Keep reading to see what you might get or to get some questions answered if you’ve received an invitation elsewhere. Whenever I get these invites, the person I send the box to gets it for free if s/he pays the $5 shipping charge. Anyone who does not cancel will automatically move to a seasonal subscription on the 21st day after the $5 gets charged. Either a Seasonal box (if there are any left) or an Editor’s box would start the official subscription.

Birchbox June 2019 Review of Curated Box Making Waves and a Sample Choice Plus Subscription Box Offers

I have two June 2019 Birchbox reviews, and I am placing both in this article. Once I learned of the price increase, I purchased two extra three month subscriptions. That way I could write this article comparing more new Birchbox offerings to the Allure Beauty Box. My three month subscriptions on my second and third boxes ended in May, so I expected to return to just my main box for June. When I wrote in to cancel Box two and three, Birchbox told me I still had one more left on subscription two. Considering I paid for the same term on the same day, I knew that was a mistake. If Birchbox wanted to send me a free box, I am not going to argue though. So, I paid for Box One, but I did not pay for Box Two. This is also the last time I will have Box Two.
