I want to offer my 2019 Sephora Favorites Give Me Some Shine Lip Set review, because the Sephora 2019 Spring Bonus Sale opens to VIB Rouge members today. This is something worthy of adding to your shopping list. It took me a while after its release to purchase it. Then, it took me a while to start testing the products. Now that I have tested all of them, I will have more entries for my lip balm article (which keeps getting pushed back as I acquire new products). Many of the Sephora Favorites sets have been misses lately, but this is a definite hit. If you are lucky enough to get one during the sale, grab it. Even if this somehow lasts through the sale and you are reading this, grab it.
It’s time for the Best in Beauty for 2018! Part of the reason we try new things is the thrill of the hunt. We all want to discover a holy grail or made for me product and are willing to gamble on the unknown. At times, the risk pays off, and we find things worth talking about. Those are the items we want to shout about from the rooftops. Deal shoppers do not always try things the moment they release, because we like to read reviews and wait for sales. The items on this list were not necessarily released in 2018. I did not discover their greatness until 2018 though. This is a list of the 10 best products I tried for the first time this year and for good measure I have two bonus products. While it is amazing when we find drugstore items that perform as well as high-end ones, and I sample products from low-end to luxury with that goal in mind, this list is only indicative of the best products (not the best in their price range).
Welcome to the place where I like to discuss my favorites from each season that I did not finish. Anything I’ve finished this season made it into my Empties article. Items I am still in love with as I empty them become FabuFinds. While I cannot promise I will ever finish these (some products expire before I can empty them) and I cannot promise I will still love them enough to label them as FabuFinds upon completion, I loved them throughout this season. These are items I reached for many times even though I have plenty of similar items in my stash collecting dust. Many of these items are serious contenders for my Top 10 of the Year. There were six items I reached for constantly this fall.

The Sephora Favorites Give Me More Lip Kit was marked down to $47 on 11/21/18. I thought this was a great deal at $68, so I think it is a steal at the new price. After the somewhat disappointing Superstars Kit and the lackluster Superstars Everyday Must Haves Kit, my expectations for the Sephora Favorites Give Me More Lip were low. Thankfully, this exceeds my expectations, because I think this is a pretty good set. I have no problem paying the full $68 asking price, so I placed an online order today. In the past, I would have shied away from a set with so many non-traditional bullet lipsticks, but I am trying to broaden my horizons and try new things. At some point, I will write a comprehensive article on the liquid lipsticks I’ve tried and go over my results for which one is best for dry lips. Until then, I will keep exploring.

This 2018 Sephora Favorites Kit came back in stock temporarily (after I reviewed it), but it returned to its original $80 price tag. I went over the reasons I would not purchase the 2018 Sephora Favorites Superstars Kit at full-price in a grab or pass article. The main reason was the original price of $80 was too high for mostly samples that Sephora has given out many times. Of the $85.50 in full-size products, none of the items really grabbed my attention. I already owned two of them and the other two were things I would not usually purchase, especially at full-price. All of the samples already existed in my collection, and I did not need duplicates of any of them. My decision in that article was I would purchase the kit if it dipped to $40. At that price, I could justify grabbing the two items I did not already own and keeping some duplicates of the products I really love and would actually need. Days after posting that article, Sephora discounted the set to $40 in its Labor Day Sale. To make sure I could not pass this deal up, Sephora allowed me to use my Rouge discount code from the Beauty Insider Appreciation Event for an extra 20% off bringing the final sales price to $32.
The new Sephora Favorites Give Me Some Lip Kit is out. I love when Sephora puts out a new Favorites Set. These sets retail for a lot less than the value of the items inside. As long as the items you plan on keeping exceed the value of the price you pay for the set, it is a good deal. This is one of my favorite ways to sample new items, and I like the sets even more when they have some full-sized items inside. While paying for samples is something I do often with subscription boxes, I limit how often I pay for samples in sets. The mystery of subscription boxes and desire to get things I would never purchase prevails in that case. When a set only has samples and costs over $20, I am less likely to purchase it. Paying for samples is not always a bad thing, especially when sets have items you really want to try, and you have not been able to get them for free or as a GWP.

The employee appreciation sale took place from October 14th-21st in 2017. I did not write an article, but I did partake.
Sephora Employee Appreciation, also known as the Friends and Family Sale, has returned for 2016. It will run from Sunday, October 23rd through Sunday, October 30th. Employees give unique 20% off discount codes to friends and family. These discount codes are on a postcard, which can get gifted in person or mailed. Emails were available again this year, but the emails were not sent out until the first morning of the sale. A lot of companies include all customers in friends and family sales. These codes from Sephora are for legitimate friends and family. A good sales associate can make a customer feel like a friend. If you never hang out away from Sephora, odds are you’re not friends. They only get a limited amount of post cards, so please do not be offended if they do not offer one to you.
There is a private event for anyone who receives a postcard from 7pm-9pm on the 23rd. This is usually a two-week sale, but it’s only eight days this year. That explains why Sephora abandoned the mid-October start it usually does. The VIB Rouge and VIB 20% off sale dates have been officially announced. Like last year, each tier has four days to shop the 20% off sale.

The Fall 21 Days of Beauty is in full swing. Read my overview for tips on the sale. Ulta offered a 24 piece Beauty Bag as a Platinum Perk with a $125 purchase. This is not a common offer during a major promotion, like the Days of Beauty. These monster bags are more common when Ulta actually needs to push us into an order. There is no expiration date listed on this offer, so it is available while supplies last. I had a few (dreaded full price) items I’ve been waiting to purchase. Since I wanted to get this bag, I decided to get them with some steals I was going to get anyway. It also helps that I redeemed 2000 points for a $125 credit, so I did not pay full price on anything.
Macy’s is one of my favorite stores to purchase clothing for myself and my kids, because the clothing is cute and the prices are decent. They have frequent sales, so we rarely pay full price for clothing. Back to school shopping is usually an exception, because we usually shop in store. My boys tend to buy the items they like, and they rarely select items from the sale section. After shopping in person at Macy’s and Dillard’s for back to school shopping last year, we all decided it would be best to do back to school shopping online this year. The best part of shopping online is I can only show them things on sale without them experiencing fear of missing out when they see something in the full-price section. I highly recommend online shopping for this very reason unless your kids need to try the items on to make their decision.
Beauty Products are constantly reinvented to bring us the latest and greatest. Innovations can miss, but there are times when they advance a product. Of all the ones recently released, these are the ones I anticipate most. Some bring new features or formulations to products we already know and love, others are brand-new takes on products, and most are new colors to welcome the upcoming season. While I do love seeing new colors and find some season appropriate, I do not let the season dictate the colors I wear all the time. That means, I am fine waiting until the next season to purchase an item. It not only gives me a chance to see it on others, but I can sometimes get a better deal on items that are not brand new releases. At some point, I will pick these up (as long as first reviews are favorable) or I can swatch or test them myself.

Ulta runs some great promotions during the year, but my favorite is 21 Days of Beauty. They do it twice a year (usually March and September). This year, the fall event ran from the 6th through the 26th of September. That means the event is officially over. The spring event is always better, so fret not if you missed the fall event. If you need any tips on how to make the most of the next event, I give them in this plan. Check all offers on the special event page.
I love Sephora. When there is a sale, it does not exclude anything. Gift cards cannot be purchased with them, but I do not see that as an exclusion. It is one of the few retailers where you do not have to read a bunch of fine print to plan your sale hauls. Chic Week is the first major sale of the year, and always falls around the beginning of April. Although, there are usually skincare point multipliers in January and perfume point multipliers in February that can boost your points. Every year, usually in April, the store goes on sale. Rouge and VIB clients get 15% off, and Beauty Insiders get 10% off. The sale opened to Rouge members on the 12th, VIB members on the 16th, and Beauty Insiders on the 17th. Rouge members were even invited to a special event at 9am on the 12th.
Although I RSVP’d for the event, I woke up with a terrible headache that day and was unable to attend. I’ve attended events in the past though, so I can write from experience about the event. Brand reps come into the store. Some brands offer special gifts with purchase if you buy from them. They usually have stations to sample the products on shoppers. At a previous Rouge event, I received a mini facial from the Ole Henriksen rep, and my sister received a makeup application from the Smashbox rep. They served pastries, coffee, and water. Once we completed our purchases, we checked out where I received a bag of samples. She was my guest, so she received a few foils. When I attend the next event, I will write a detailed description of everything.
