My Summer 2019 Causebox review is ready. Yes, I am reviewing it after it is no longer available for purchase. That is my bad, because I waited too long to order it. I did also order the Summer 2019 Welcome box and will review that as soon as it arrives. It seems like the Summer 2019 Causebox sold out on the 11th of July and my box arrived the next day. Causebox includes a mix of: exclusive, ethically made products from a wide range of items. They are always full-sized, and the value of the box will always be over $200. There are 6-8 full size items in every box. Each item is cruelty free, vegan whenever possible, and always socially conscious. This is a quarterly subscription program. There is one box per season. Welcome boxes are usually available between seasons. Those who sign up between seasonal boxes will get a welcome box.
My FabFitFun Summer 2019 Editor’s Box review is coming. I ordered my first box today, and I will grab another if I can select the serum in category four without upgrading to an annual subscription on a new account. The shop did reopen on the 16th as planned, but the Editor’s Box was not available for purchase. Members usually get to select all five options when they purchase from the shop, but the link to the box is still only showing the two category options we received in the Edit Sale. You cannot add the box to your cart either. Hopefully, this changes, but for now, you will need a new subscription to score an Editor’s Box. After making the calculated decision to pass on paying $49.99 for two options in the Edit Sale, I paid $39.99 for three options today when I got $10 off using the promo code COOL. That is the code designated for the Summer Editor’s Box. Please note that the Summer 2019 Box is still in stock. If you use any code other than COOL, you will start with a summer box.
The first ever Ulta Beauty Primer Days Event starts today, Sunday, July 14th and runs through tomorrow, Monday, July 15th. This mini event brings up to 50% off select primers, a primer sampler as a GWP (to better arm you for purchase decisions at subsequent Primer events), and plenty of primers as the free gift for specific brand purchases. Because I love a good pun, I love the ad campaign that this delivers prime(r) offers for up to 50% off. Ulta even got a jump on Amazon Prime Day (which starts tomorrow). Whoever came up with this idea deserves a raise, although the Amazon execs might not find it as funny as I did. Get your Prime offers from Amazon and your primer offers from Ulta.
Sephora emailed me a special discount code, “Because It’s Been a While.” I heard Sephora started emailing unique, one time use codes to select members last year, but I had never been the recipient of any. Thus, I chose not to cover the topic. Now that I have received my first offer, I wanted to track the ones I receive here. This will also give me a chance to give away the ones I won’t redeem. The year is more than half over and this is my first offer. That means they are likely infrequent. As such, I will combine 2019 and 2020 into one article.
On May 20th, TeamBIC reached out to see if I would be interested in a Sephora Beauty Insider Community gift. The message said they would be given out on a first come, first served basis. It looks like messages started going out on the 17th, but there were still spots left before the May 22nd deadline. Never one to turn down a free gift (as long as I can share my thoughts on it), I responded. My gift, addressed to a Sephora BIC Super Star, arrived on July 1st. That is the exact two-year anniversary of the new BIC launch from the old Beautytalk, so the timing on the gift delivery was perfect.
I want to host a giveaway to re-home some of my duplicate products. There are four full-size items and a mini product in this giveaway. The full-size items are: COOLA Makeup Setting Spray ($36), QUAY Cherry Bomb Sunglasses ($55), Too Faced Tutti Fruitti Twinkle Twinkle Liquid Glitter Eye Shadow Strawberries & Champagne ($22), and tarte Sugar Rush preppy Precision Eyeliner ($15). My mini is the Sol de Janeiro Brazilian Bum Bum Cream ($20).
After I review my Empty Products, I take extra time to go over the standouts. It is a round-up for the best of the best. Only products that seem like they’re made for me make FabuFind status, so there are a lot of items I love that never make it. These are items I would repurchase, even without a deal. Items I am loving but cannot finish any time soon make it into my Core Collection (favorites). To eventually spotlight all FabuFinds, I will never repeat items already mentioned in a past article. That does not mean they lost their magic. An item not spotlighted in a past Empties article may get promoted as I try it more and fall deeper in love. If something gets demoted from FabuFind status (formula changes, skin changes, finding something better, etc), I will note the change in the original article I mentioned it in. There are five products I consider FabuFinds in my Spring 2019 Empties that I have not discussed yet.
It’s time to review my empty products from Spring 2019. By the time I’ve finished something, I know exactly how I feel about it, so I prefer reviews of empties to first impressions. These are the items I finished during the spring of 2019. For items I neither love nor hate, I am always willing to try them again, but I will not seek them out. This generally means I will only try them again if they are: free, on sale, or in a set (sets are a great way to get a deal as long as the value of the items you want to try exceed the cost you are paying). Empties from my April and June Foil Challenge are not here, because I wanted to avoid redundancy. The pH of products I’ve tested this season are below. Visit the pH article for info on how I test and a list of everything I’ve tested.
Summer is officially here, so it is time to go over my favorites from the 2019 spring season. I like to call these my core collection items, because I find myself reaching for them over similar products in my stockpiles. These are items I am still working on, so they will not make the Empties article for this season. Each is still worthy of discussion, so this is the place I like to do that. Items I am still in love with once I empty them become FabuFinds. While I cannot promise I will ever finish these (some products expire before I can empty them) and I cannot promise I will still love them enough to label them as FabuFinds upon completion, I loved them throughout this season. Many of these items are serious contenders for my Best of the Year article. There were seven items I really enjoyed this winter.
My Summer 2019 FabFitFun subscription box review is ready! FabFitFun is a quarterly subscription that releases one box per season. Boxes have over $200 in value. The items are always full-sized and include products from: beauty, wellness, fashion, and fitness lines. Subscribers can either pay $179.99 for an annual subscription ($20 off when buying 4 boxes up front) or $49.99 for a Seasonal subscription. Shipping is free, but sales tax gets charged (in certain states). There is usually a code to receive $10 off your first seasonal box. Those codes are fffa2p6 and FAB10. Members can select add-ons at deeply discounted prices to include with their boxes. All subscribers get to customize some choice options, but Annual Subscribers (select members) get extra choices.
The online only Ulta Beauty 2019 Summer Sale runs from June 30th through July 5th. This is also known as the Ulta Beauty Fourth of July Sale, because it is always running on July 4th. With 6 days in 2019, it is the longest the event has ever ran. This event included 1641 products last year, but it almost doubled to 2963 products for 2019. It gets bigger every year! Speaking of bigger events, the liter sale starts June 30th, so you can mix and match items to meet the free shipping minimum. That minimum gets reduced to $35 during the Ulta Beauty Summer Sale. This event places hundreds of items from drugstore and prestige brands on sale in three price categories: Under $10, Under $20, and Under $30. Many of these items get discounted up to 50% off making some of these deals more valuable than steals offered in larger events.
It’s time for my Sephora Play June 2019 review. Play! by Sephora is a subscription box that offers five deluxe beauty samples and a bonus foil packet or perfume vial for $10 a month plus tax. Shipping is free. Only items sold at Sephora come inside the Play! box so most items are from well-known, high-end brands. While Sephora does carry a few low-end and luxury brands, they do not really appear in the subscription boxes. There is not a traditional rewards program with this box so you cannot get points for referring friends or writing reviews. It does award 10 Beauty Insider points to Beauty Insiders, 12.5 points to VIB members, and 15 points to VIB Rouge members. This Play! box also applies $10 toward your purchase minimum to maintain your Beauty Insider status. Visit my Sephora page for descriptions on points and status. The $10 charge processes immediately for new subscribers and from the 1st through the 4th for succeeding months. Boxes usually ship from the 11th through the 15th.
The Ulta Beauty Summer 2019 Jumbo Love Event (the Liter Sale) will run from Sunday, June 30th through Saturday, July 27th, so it is almost time to stock up on jumbo haircare. Expect it to repeat from December through January, because this is a semi-annual event. With this twice a year event, you get the lowest prices of the season on jumbo sizes of shampoo, conditioner, and more. Unlike the Gorgeous Hair Event, which starts in May and then again in October, this event does not have a daily steal format. Most deals are available from day one of the sale and stay available until inventory runs out or the event ends, whichever comes first. Because of this, the online link for the sale is not as advanced as it is for other events.
SampleSource provides free samples in exchange for your opinion. Register and fill out your profile. If samples suited to your profile become available, they will send you an email. Quantities are limited, so respond as soon as you get the email to make sure yours do not run out of stock. A few weeks after your samples arrive, you will get an email asking to review the products. The review is an exit survey that only has a few questions per product. Neither a blog post nor any social media promotion is required. I only write a post to share the service with you. There are no referrals for this service, so all links are direct.
I am here to share the latest 2019 FabFitFun Starter Box Review. This is the third variation I’ve reviewed this year. The photos and products belong to one of the people I sent a Starter Box to. Two of these are products I love, and I think the other two look nice. I have three starter boxes and will give them to the first three requests I see. Keep reading to see what you might get or to get some questions answered if you’ve received an invitation elsewhere. Whenever I get these invites, the person I send the box to gets it for free if s/he pays the $5 shipping charge. Anyone who does not cancel will automatically move to a seasonal subscription on the 21st day after the $5 gets charged. Either a Seasonal box (if there are any left) or an Editor’s box would start the official subscription.
A new 2019 Ulta Beauty Stars Event for Suncare, Favorite Products Picked For You starts today, June 15th and runs through Monday, June 17th. The point multiplier for this event is based on rewards level. UltaMate members get 5x points, Platinum members get 6x points, and Diamond members get 7x points. This is the first event with that specific point format. Members with this offer who purchase any of the 44 suncare offers in the event will get 5x, 6x, or 7x points for those products. It’s not the biggest selection of products, but it is nice to see a suncare event to kick off the summer. See the article for all 5x, 7x points offers for other times Diamond members got 7x points. As this is the sixth Beauty Stars event of 2019 and the year is less than half over, I think we have more surprise events on the horizon.
I have one timeline where I list all major: deals, coupons, GWP, Sales, promotions, and Events. Those who want to see an overall idea of what to expect this year should stop by. See where this 5x Points, 6x Points, 7x Points 2019 Ulta Beauty Stars Event Suncare lines up with others on the calendar. You can also visit my Ulta retailer page to see active and upcoming offers of all types.
All members must activate the offer from their email or the My Rewards section of their online account.
Diamond members get 7x points on the 44 products included in the Beauty Stars Event.
Neither of my boys received the offer on their regular account, so only select UltaMate members received 5x points. I am guessing most Platinum members got 6x points.
Featured Products in the June 2019 75x Points, 6x Points, 7x Points Ulta Beauty Stars Event Suncare Products Picked For You
The June 2019 5x, 6x, 7x Points Ulta Beauty Stars Event Suncare Products Picked For You is sunscreen heavy. It is a great time to stock up, because most of us probably do not use as much as we should. Prevention is always better than after care. I like that this is a mixture of drugstore and high-end brands. For my face, I usually opt for high-end, but I prefer drugstore on my body. Got to save where I can.
What are your thoughts on the 5x, 6x, 7x Points Ulta Beauty Stars Event Suncare Products Picked For You? Let me know below. Targeted Offers are exclusive to UltaMate Rewards Members, so I do recommend joining. Whenever there is an exclusive or unique Ulta Beauty offer, I will note that above. An advanced breakdown on Earning and Redeeming Points can help you maximize the UltaMate Rewards Program. Coupons are almost always available. I go over all types of Ulta coupons and track 20% off prestige coupons. Remember to check my Ulta Deals page before placing an online order for possible exclusives and advice. There are always general and brand specific offers I do not list, so check the GWP section of the Ulta site as well. Ulta encourages deal stacking. I have two June 2019 Birchbox reviews, and I am placing both in this article. Once I learned of the price increase, I purchased two extra three month subscriptions. That way I could write this article comparing more new Birchbox offerings to the Allure Beauty Box. My three month subscriptions on my second and third boxes ended in May, so I expected to return to just my main box for June. When I wrote in to cancel Box two and three, Birchbox told me I still had one more left on subscription two. Considering I paid for the same term on the same day, I knew that was a mistake. If Birchbox wanted to send me a free box, I am not going to argue though. So, I paid for Box One, but I did not pay for Box Two. This is also the last time I will have Box Two.
When Birchbox moved to its new tiered pricing structure on March 25 of 2019, it went into direct competition with the Allure Beauty Box. New month-to-month subscribers could choose to spend $15 with Allure Beauty Box or $15 with Birchbox. With the price increase Birchbox promised an extra sample, better brands, more choices, faster shipping, and more. I’m here to review my experience from before the change and since to change to let you know if it is worth it at $15 or if you should spend your $15 with Allure Beauty Box instead. Of course, you can always stick with a $10 box from Ipsy or Sephora Play (while you can, because these could also get increased).
My search to find a natural deodorant that does not make me stink continued, and I am here to go over my latest natural deodorant reviews. I started my journey last year with Lavanila Sport Luxe Deodorant and schmidt’s Rose + Vanilla Natural Deodorant. Of course, I documented that journey for anyone who wants to read specifics on how it went. The short version is it did not go well, so I was determined to keep testing products until I’ve found the one that works for me. While I hoped I could re-test both of the original products, the schmidt’s product went bad. That meant I was only able to give Lavanila a second try.
My Patchology PoshPeel Pedi Cure Intensive Foot Peel Treatment review is ready. If you dislike seeing feet, exit out of this article immediately. This comprehensive review has plenty of feet pictures to back up my findings. There are other articles on this site you will enjoy more than this one. The bottom of my feet can get rough. I dislike when my heels crack, because I typically like my feet. Whenever I stop using Egyptian Magic for an extended period, they will crack. Since I wanted my feet to peel as much as possible, I gave them a one-month break from Egyptian Magic.
My June 2019 Platinum Beauty Bag review is ready. I track all Platinum Beauty Bag offers, but I like to review the ones I redeem. Sometimes, I don’t care too much for the bag and other times I do not have the budget for the bag. This is a bag where I had the budget and liked the items based on the preview, so my review will cover whether I think it is worth the $150 buy-in now that it is here. It is still available, so I hope my review helps some of you who are on the fence about picking it up. The recent Diamond Beauty Bag did not interest me at all, so I did not grab that one. Ulta claims this has a $262 value. Whenever there are errors in Ulta’s list (as there are here), I will only correct them in review articles (like this one). The tracking article will always have Ulta’s original list.
The Walmart Beauty Box releases once per season, and my Spring 2019 Walmart Beauty Box review is below. This is a subscription box that gives you the items for free as long as you pay $5 for the shipping. Your first $5 charges when you subscribe, and a box from the current season will ship to you within a few weeks. Future boxes will incur the $5 charge as the box ships. While this box gets released each season, the release date always varies. Walmart will email you before it releases to remind you to update your account information. Sometimes, it sends boxes right after you update. Other times, it will tell email you to update your account, then still wait weeks to ship your box.
I am here to bring you the Summer 2019 FabFitFun Men’s Box review. It is the Summer 2019 FabFitFun for Him II Edition. When the Summer 2019 add-ons opened up, this was a purchase option for $49.99. That gave me the opportunity to get my husband another FabFitFun box of his own. His first was the Winter 2018/2019 Men’s Gift Box. I decided to show the contents to him before purchasing it instead of surprising him, because there were a couple of things I was unsure of. After looking, he assured me that he would probably try everything but the wallet. He already loves the wallet he owns. With 8 items inside, I figured it was still worth the purchase if he tried seven. Besides, my 12-year-old wanted a new wallet. Everything inside this set would stay in the family making it a great purchase decision. This is the second FabFitFun for Men Box, so I assume that means the first one went well. Hopefully, more follow.
A new promotion for 2019 at Ulta Beauty is The Men’s Event. This promotion gives up to 50% off select products for men. Some products get discounted throughout the event and others get discounted for one day only. It runs from June 4th through June 11th and is designed to Refresh His Routine. The idea is to purchase gifts to celebrate and elevate his look. Father’s Day is on the 16th. With the notoriously slow shipping at Ulta, I would shop as close to the beginning of the event as possible. Those who shop on the 11th may not receive their packages on time.
The 2019 Ulta Beauty Summer Splash launches Friday. This is a new promotion where Ulta will offer a new treat every Friday. Friday Summer Hours offers start every Friday at 10am PST and are available that day while supplies last. It is an online only gift. I will update this article every Friday when the new treat is offered, so I should have a list of everything by the end of the summer. Offers are only available the day they release.
What do you do with all those foil packets you collect? Trying a foil is a great way to see if your skin reacts to the product, you cannot tolerate the smell, the consistency is annoying, or if there is anything about the product that bothers you. Sampling a foil and thinking you need to have that product in your life is rare, but it does happen. This is most likely to happen with products where you can see instant results. My plan is to try a foil of something new or something I have not used in a long time every day during a challenge month. To give my skin a break from constant new products, I will only complete foil challenges in even months. Feel free to take part in this challenge with me. If you are a fellow deal shopper, I bet you have a lot of foils stockpiled in your collection.
I have three May 2019 Birchbox reviews, and I am placing all three in this article. After I learned about the new Birchbox pricing structure, I decided to purchase two more subscriptions before the price went up. Since I wanted to see if the new boxes are really better than the old boxes, I wanted to have a few each month for comparison. It is easy to get one lucky box. If you get three out of three, it is far more likely actual improvement is taking place. In typical studies, you usually need a sample size of at least 30. As much as I love experiments and blogging, I was not ordering 30 boxes!
It’s time for my Sephora Play May 2019 review. Play! by Sephora is a subscription box that offers five deluxe beauty samples and a bonus foil packet or perfume vial for $10 a month plus tax.
A new 2019 Ulta Beauty Stars Event for Women Founded Brands We Love starts today, Friday, May 17th and runs through Monday, May 20th. This overlaps the Spring Gorgeous Hair Event, which runs through June 1st. The event is only available to select rewards members. I received the offer on my Diamond account, but my sons did not receive the offer on their UltaMate accounts. Anyone who received the offer will receive 5x points on any of the 775 beauty products included in the Ulta Beauty Stars Women Founded Brands We Love Event. It is the fourth Beauty Star event of 2019, which is one more than we received in 2018. That means we get more of these mini Beauty Stars events between major events.
I am here to bring you my Allure Beauty Box May 2019 review. Allure Beauty box sends 5-6 beauty samples for $15 plus tax a month. Shipping is free. Most items are deluxe, but there are times when 1-3 products are full-sized. Items are chosen by Allure editors so products can range from drugstore to high-end. There is no rewards program with this subscription, but you can refer people if your referral link works. Here’s hoping mine does, because you get a rotating gift if someone signs up using your link. Boxes usually ship in the third week of the month, and the charge for the box gets processed the day the box ships. New subscribers get charged the day they subscribe.
New Allure Beauty Box Subscriber Offers
If you are a new subscriber and there are boxes left in the month you subscribe, you will get a box from that month. When the month is sold-out, you will still be charged upon subscribing, but you will not get charged a second time when your first box ships the following month. New subscribers get $5 off their first box. They also get a welcome gift, which is a full-size Badgley Mischka Perfume ($115) for anyone who signs up in May. It was a full-size Juice Beauty Nutrient Moisturizer for the first part of May.
The welcome gift for June is a 0.5oz Sunday Riley C.E.O Glow Vitamin C + Turmeric Face Oil.
