Sephora Play! March 2020 Review
It’s time for my Sephora Play March 2020 Review. Play! by Sephora is a subscription box that offers five deluxe beauty samples and a bonus foil packet or perfume vial for $10 a month plus tax. Shipping is free. Only items sold at Sephora come inside the Play! Box so most items are from well-known, high-end brands. While Sephora does carry a few low-end and luxury brands, they do not really appear in the subscription boxes.
Sephora Play! Frequently Asked Questions
Are There Any Promo or Coupon Codes For The Play! by Sephora Subscription?
No, Sephora has never offered any promo or coupon codes for joining Sephora Play! It does at time sell Play! boxes without a subscription for $10 or less than $10 directly through the site. Even when that happens, you will not need a promo code. Just check the sale section.
When Do I Get Charged For The Play! by Sephora Subscription?
The $10 charge processes immediately for new subscribers and from the 1st through the 4th for succeeding months.
When Do the Boxes Ship For The Play! by Sephora Subscription?
Sephora Play Boxes usually ship from the 11th through the 15th.
Do I Get Rewards Points For the Play! by Sephora Subscription?
There is not a traditional rewards program with this box so you cannot get points for referring friends or writing reviews. Sephora does award 10 Beauty Insider points to Beauty Insiders, 12.5 points to VIB members, and 15 points to VIB Rouge members. The Sephora Play! box also applies $10 toward your purchase minimum to maintain your Beauty Insider status. Visit my Sephora page for descriptions on points and status.
Can I See What I Got In a past Play! by Sephora Subscription Box?
This is helpful if you liked something but cannot remember what it was. You can view contents on one box at a time accessing the links through your Sephora order history. There are times when I can see all my Sephora history from that link and other times where it cuts older orders off. The past boxes link does give complete details on the last six boxes.
Can I See What I am Getting in My Next Play! by Sephora Subscription Box?
I find that the items will get listed in the account around the 15th. Some people call or search the Internet for spoilers before that. Others are even lucky enough to get their boxes before that. By the 16th, everyone who wants to know generally can.
How Can I Get Better Play! by Sephora Boxes?
If other people are getting boxes that you want, it might be time to tweak your Play! Profile if you aren’t ready to throw in the towel.
How Do I Update My Sephora Play! Profile?
Make sure you update your Sephora Play! Profile, because it does not use the Sephora profile for this box. You can continue to play with your settings until you are happy with what you’re receiving. If no adjustments help, cancel your subscription. You can view samples that were available this month through shop the products link.
This article covers my Play by Sephora March 2020 Box Review, but you can see a synopsis of a year of Play! by Sephora Box reviews vs a year of Birchbox reviews. Every year, I review my $10 boxes against each other, so I can declare the annual winner. This is also helpful for those who would like to see a year of reviews for either box in one place. Birchbox did raise its prices for select members, but it is still $10 for me. I did consider the raised prices in the 2019 review.
Each box comes with a Sephora Play! Book. This is a booklet that unfolds into a large sheet of photo paper to show info about all the items inside the box.
It also goes over the theme for the box and shows how the products tie into the theme. The theme for March Play! by Sephora Play box is Beauty in the Wild.
Items come inside a thick ziplock bag. You can reuse these bags. The colors keep changing, so I have a rainbow.
My Sephora Play Box March 2020 Review
I received three skincare products, two makeup products, and one haircare product. My Sephora Play March 2020 is box version is 2321937.
Repeats to My Collection
The 0.008oz stila Stay All Day® Waterproof Liquid Eye Liner is worth $11. I don’t think I’ve tried this eyeliner yet, but I do own multiple samples of it. Until I try it, I do not know if I will keep this duplicate. Because of how quickly liquid eyeliners dry out, I do not want to swatch it either. This is one I’ve meant to try for a while, so I will eventually get around to it.
The 0.06oz NARS Powermatte Lip Pigment in StarWoman is worth $8.67. I don’t have a picture of me wearing this, but I do have an old swatch. It is not as drying as most liquid lipsticks, but it does not last as long either. This is definitely a product I do not need a duplicate of.
The 0.5oz GLAMGLOW GLOWSTARTER™ Mega Illuminating Moisturizer is worth $14.41. I love this moisturizer. It makes my skin glow, provides great hydration, and it smells like Skittles. As much as I love it, I barely keep dupes when I get them. People in my life usually want a sample when I tell them about it. There is a good chance I will not keep this dupe, but you never know.
The 0.03oz Versace Bright Crystal fragrance is worth $3. This fragrance is fine, but I do not need a million of them. I feel this is the most sampled fragrance on the planet, and we probably all have it by now.
New Item to My Collection
The 0.07oz fresh Sugar Mint Rush Freshening Lip Treatment is worth $11.20. I love fresh lip treatments. Even though I have not tried this Mint Rush version, I know I will love it, too.
The 0.75oz amika Un.Done Volume and Matte Texture Spray is worth $7.50. Other than the Oribe texture spray, I am not usually a fan of this type of product. I prefer soft hair to texturized hair, but I will try this. We’ll see if I can handle the way it makes my hair feel.
Was the Sephora Play March 2020 Box Worth It?
The Sephora Play Box March 2020 has a $55.78. This brings the average box value for the year to $46.30. My personal value is at least $18.70. That is because I will try the two items that are new to my collection. If I keep the moisturizer or the eyeliner, my value could rise a little. There is no way I am keeping the lipstick or the perfume. I would have paid $10 for this box based on the strength of the lip balm alone. If the hair product is not great, there is a better chance I will keep the moisturizer. Paying $10 for only one great sample is not ideal, but the moisturizer could make up for a possibly lackluster texturizing spray.

Sephora does not inform any Beauty Insider of all promotions. It does list a great deal of them on its Beauty Offers page, but I list some it does not on my Sephora Deals Page. Between the ones it lists and the ones I list, you can catch most of them. Sign up for Sephora emails to get targeted offers. If you’re spending over $25 online, there is always a promo code that you can apply. Most major events run on a set schedule, which I track on my Sephora Sales Calendar 2020. I'm Kimberly. Shopping is always more fun when I've found the best deal available, so I am always on the hunt. My father instilled that in me, and I love that I carry a piece of him. Sometimes, my husband and sons (12 and 7) let me shop for them, too. They do not use as many beauty products as I do. We can all benefit from nice products, even though their routine ends with moisturizer. That is when I can convince my 12-year-old to apply it.
