My Birchbox February 2020 review is ready. Birchbox is a long-time leader in beauty box subscriptions, because it sends a variety of products to sample. All boxes contain a mixture of skincare, makeup, haircare, and more. At times, they also feature fragrance, body care, accessories, and even beauty tools. Because Birchbox carries products from low to high-end, we also get a mixture of affordable products we can try guilt free and expensive products we can indulge in. The best part is finding things I love (so I can purchase them) and things I hate (that I did not have to purchase at full price to try with my own money first).

How Much Does the Birchbox Subscription Cost?

• ACES pay $10 a month. *Grandfathered or not!
• Grandfathered members with annual plans pay $12 a month. *Annual plans are still paid monthly at Birchbox.
• Annual members pay $13 a month. *Those without Grandfathered plans 
• Grandfathered members with 6-month plans pay $12.50 a month. *6-month plans are still paid monthly at Birchbox.
• 6-month members pay $14 a month. *Those without Grandfathered plans

Do I Get Rewards Points For the Birchbox Subscription?

There is not a rewards program other than getting 10 points each for reviewing the first five products on your account. Once you’ve done that, you cannot get any more rewards points from your subscription without referring new members into the program. On that note, feel free to use mine if you would like to join.

Can I See What I Got In a past Birchbox Subscription Box?

This is helpful if you liked something but cannot remember what it was. You can view contents on one box at a time accessing the links through your Birchbox Box History.

Can I See What I am Getting in My Next Birchbox Subscription Box?

I find that the items will get listed in the Birchbox Box History around the 10th. Some people call or search the Internet for spoilers before that. Others are even lucky enough to get their boxes before that. By the 11th, everyone who wants to know generally can.

How Can I Get Better Birchboxes?

If other people are getting boxes that you want, it might be time to tweak your Birchbox Profile if you aren’t ready to throw in the towel.

How Do I Update My Birchbox Profile?

Make sure you update your Birchbox Profile, because it does a pretty good job of sending products based on the beauty preferences you’ve selected. Of every subscription I’ve had, I think Birchbox nails this better than any other. Despite people claiming it repeats, it really doesn’t (unless people choose to get repeats in sample selection, curated boxes, or change their email addresses). Seriously, this profile thing works!

When Do I get to Make my Birchbox Sample Choice?

Birchbox Sample Choice happens at the end of every month for the following month. The date changes each month. You will get three emails from Birchbox. One is your email showing what the options will be for the upcoming month. In this email, it will also tell you what date you can make you selections. A second email will arrive on the date you’re allowed to make your selection. ACES get to make selections one day ahead of other subscribers. The last email is a confirmation that your sample choice is confirmed. If you do not receive all three of these emails, remember to login to your account at the end of the month and manually make your selection. You do not need the email to do this. An option to choose should be right at the top of your Birchbox Box History.

Which is Better Play! by Sephora or Birchbox?

Every year, I review my $10 boxes against each other, so I can declare the annual winner. This is also helpful for those who would like to see a year of reviews for either box in one place. Birchbox did raise its prices for select members, but it is still $10 for me. I did consider the raised prices in the 2019 review.

February 2020 Birchbox Overview

Birchbox makes a custom box design for each month. This month has a maze design. It is quite intricate, so it could be a lot of fun if someone decides to complete it.

The first thing you see when you open a Birchbox is a product card.

The back of the card goes over the theme, which is Birchbox Tips. I got Tip #179. Going to Bed with a clean face is one of the easiest ways to prevent breakouts.

Contents are loose inside the box with a single piece of black foam at the bottom and a single sheet of tissue paper encircling the items. The tissue helped keep the items in place, so everything arrived intact.

My February 2020 Birchbox Subscription Review

Birchbox February 2020 Curated Box 3 Valentine’s Night In Review

This box includes: one haircare product, three skincare products, and one makeup removing product.

The 0.1oz Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Eye is worth $7.40. I’ve received multiple samples of this, but I always give them away before I get a chance to try it. That’s because I’ve heard what a great eye cream it is and I’m trying to give people something great to try. I’ll see if I can hold onto this one.

The 0.5oz Avène Hydrance RICH Hydrating Cream is worth $12.71. I have multiples of this, but I have not tried it yet. A rich, hydrating cream is exactly what my skin needs, so I may love it once I get around to trying it. On the other hand, this would make an excellent sample for someone with dry skin, considering I have others.

The 10-count Vasanti® Makeup Magnet Wipes are worth $4. I use makeup wipes to remove swatches, so these will come in handy at some point. They are rather small, so I’ll have to reserve them for micro projects. Otherwise, I will burn through the package in a couple of sittings.

The Acure Brightening Biocellulose Sheet Mask retails for $5.99. Other than getting the eye cream again, this is the main reason I ordered the box. I can never have too many sheet masks. They’re single use, so even 365 would only give you 1 per day. This is one I’ve received, but I don’t think I’ve tried.

The 1oz NatureLab Tokyo Perfect Repair Treatment Masque is worth $2.39. I’ve received this before, but I have not tried it. When it comes to hair masks, I never mind having dupes. It takes a lot of product to treat my hair. An ounce will get 2 uses max, sometimes even less.

Was My February 2020 Birchbox Worth It?

The February 2020 Birchbox has a $32.39 value. That brings the value for the average box in 2020 to $34.19. My personal value is at least $19.78. It could be as high as $32.39 if I keep the moisturizer once I try my original. Only the makeup wipes were something I had not received before. At the same time, I’ve never tried any of the items in the box.

Until I do, I do not know which dupes are amazing and which are duds. As the Kiehl’s is the only one I gave completely away, I have to keep that. Even if I hate all the originals of the others (and don’t keep these dupes), I will try the Kiehl’s and Vasanti and get more in value than I paid. Odds are I will like at least one of the others enough to keep a dupe as well, if not more.
