The Sephora Rewards Beauty Insider Cash Based Point Option Officially in Beta January 24th, 2020. Rumors have been swirling since last year that Sephora was making a major change to its Beauty Insider Rewards Program this year. Then, a press release leaked that an overhaul would happen sometime after January 15th. Between that release and countless attempts to get users to dump points, I chose to pen What is in Store for the Sephora Rewards Program in 2020. After that, we saw many losses to the rewards program from 2019 to 2020 which prompted me to write Updates to the Sephora Rewards Program 2020 to track reward losses and gains.
I have one timeline where I list all major: Promotions, Sales, Deals, GWP, Promo Codes, and Events. Those who want to see an overall idea of what to expect this year should stop by. Sephora Rewards Beauty Insider Cash Based Point Option
The first thing I want to make clear is I’ve read the package on the email and the Sephora Beauty Insider Community Forum and I no longer believe Sephora is switching to a 100% cash based rewards system like the one Ulta has, at least not in 2020. There were so many rumors and cuts to the Beauty Insider program that even I was starting to believe it. I listed the full Q&A, which is the reason I know the rewards program is not fully canging in the Updates to the Sephora Rewards Program 2020, so I will avoid redundancy by listing it below. Getting Beauty Insider Cash will just be an option.
By the time I tried to take a look, the system was down. It’s not like it matters, because I would not partake. Getting $10 for 500 points is a really bad offer. Sephora already offers a $100 Rouge reward for 2500 points. This is a 50% reduction in value. Granted, you can redeem in 20% increments, so we’ll see how this translates if and when this program is out of beta. So far, I am not impressed. Hopefully, no one takes advantage of this offer. The only way Sephora is going to get the point that its promotions are missing the mark is if its customers pass on its promotions. At this point, it is getting so hard to get anything good with points I fear some people will take any offer they can get, even if it’s awful. That may even be what Sephora is hoping for.
It’s certainly possible that Sephora is truly just out of touch, but I think it is way more likely that it knows what Ulta offers and feels it does not have to compete. Maybe it doesn’t. Money talks. If Sephora customers are willing to spend the money with a less than desirable rewards program, Sephora probably feels no need to step things up. There was a list of promises released yesterday, but all I’ve seen so far are a lot of cuts to the rewards program. This certainly does not feel like much of a perk. I legitimately laughed when I saw the offer.
Sephora Rewards Beauty Insider Cash Based Point Beta Test
This was copied and posted directly from the Sephora Insider Beauty Community.
Can you share more details about the Beta test?
We are testing an idea that would allow members to apply points to their purchase for an amount off. The beta test is a limited trial online and at select stores in the U.S. and Canada until 2/28/2020. At Sephora we are always looking to evolve our loyalty experience and look forward to hearing from our clients.
Who can participate in the online Beta test?
We invited our Rouge members to be part of the test on a first-come, first-served basis. The sign-up period will close on 1/29/2020, or as soon as all spots are full.
I opted in to the Beta test. If I don’t use my points for $10 off before the end of the pilot, will I lose them?
No. The Beta test is an opportunity to try out a new offer, but you will not lose points if you ultimately decide not to participate in the test before 2/28/2020.

Sephora does not inform any Beauty Insider of all promotions. It does list a great deal of them on its Beauty Offers page, but I list some it does not on my Sephora Deals Page. Between the ones it lists and the ones I list, you can catch most of them. Subscribe to emails to get targeted offers. If you’re spending over $25 online, there is always a promo code that you can apply. Most major events run on a set schedule, which I track on my Sephora Sales Calendar 2020.
