Whenever there is a Sephora Beauty Insider Sweeps 2020, I will update it here. These events are hosted as a chance to dump points (win money). Beauty Insiders must either redeem points for an entry or mail in for a free entry. Points required, money awarded, and the number of winners will vary with each event. The first event of 2o2o runs from January 23rd through January 31st, but we can expect more given the pace which they’ve been coming. This is a fool’s bet for most. Just like the lottery, someone has to win, so this will be fruitful for the winners.

According to the terms, a Canadian winner will get 30% less than an American winner. That means the prize is up to $250,000 for a single winner.

 

How To Enter

 

The promotion starts March 19th and runs through March 28th. It costs 250 Beauty Insider points for 1 entry. Barring using older points (because point multipliers have not happened since May of last year), Rouge members will have spent $100 per entry, VIB members $125 per entry, Beauty Insider members $150 per entry.

Sephora Beauty Insider Sweeps 2020 January

 

This Sephora Beauty Insider Sweeps gives away $25,000 a day for 9 days. Each of the 9 winners will be drawn and notified on February 21st.

Yes, the points spent are worth it for the winner, but the losers, and there will be a lot, only help Sephora remove points from their books. As that would improve Sephora’s balance sheets, it is a no-brainer for Sephora. But, why should Beauty Insiders dump hard earned points into a contest where the odds of winning are likely incredibly slim? Of course, we cannot know the odds until entires are tabulated, but Sephora never would have hosted this if it did not expect at least 500,000 points to get redeemed. Anything redeemed over that lets them get 100 points off the books for less than $1. Overall, it will make the finance department happy.

Barring using older points (because point multipliers have not happened since May of last year), Rouge members will have spent $100 per entry, VIB members $125 per entry, Beauty Insider members $150 per entry. I’m not entering, but I have in the past so no judgement for those who do. I prefer giveaways or contests where you enter for free. If you lose, you walk away with nothing. No regret, because you tried without spending money or points to get there.

Should You Enter?

So, why am I writing this article when I am telling you not to enter? It just furthers my theory that Sephora is trying to get users to dump points, which I discuss in What is in Store For the Sephora Rewards Program in 2020. In that article, I go over theories that the rewards program might change. If true, it could explain why so many perks are getting cut and why Sephora is trying to get members to dump points. That coupled with the rewards Sephora is taking away, which I discuss in Updates to the Sephora Rewards Program 2020, show that the future of the rewards program is uncertain.
