This is new FabFitFun Starter Box 2020 Review Winter Box 20. It is the first variation of the year (although it might have popped up for a few people at the tail end of last year). Most people were still receiving Box 18, which I received. The photos below belong to the person I sent the box to, but I will be sharing my thoughts on the box. I do not have any starter boxes, but I will update this if that changes. Keep reading to see what you might get or to get some questions answered if you’ve received an invitation elsewhere.
Frequently Asked Questions Regarding FabFitFun Starter Boxes
Are there any Coupon Codes or Available Offers to Join FabFitFun?
How Does the FabFitFun Starter Box Work?
Whenever a FabFitFun member gets invites, the member sends the invites via email. Those recipients get it for free if they pay the $5 shipping charge. Anyone who does not cancel will automatically move to a seasonal subscription on the 21st day after the $5 gets charged. Either a Seasonal box (if there are any left) or an Editor’s box would start the official subscription.
How Can I Get a FabFitFun Starter Box?
To receive a starter box, you must get an invite via email from a FabFitFun subscriber. The problem is FabFitFun members only get a limited number of invites, and we never know when they will pop up.
What is the Guaranteed Value of a FabFitFun Starter Box?
Each box will have at least 3-4 full-size items with a minimum retail value of $75. Most of these are items FabFitFun has placed in past subscription boxes, Editor’s Boxes, Add-ons, and Edit Sales, but it is possible items we’ve never seen before could appear in these boxes.
Do I Get Any Benefit for Sending a Starter Box?
Current Subscribers will not get a referral credit for anyone who signs up after receiving one of their starter boxes. FabFitFun gets the chance to pick up the new subscriber, but it also takes a huge risk giving away so much value for the cost of shipping. To offset what it loses from customers who keep the gifts without signing up, it refrains from offering an incentive for those who refer the customers. Those who refer the customers get the benefit of knowing they helped someone score an amazing deal. After all, the Walmart Beauty Box sends me free products when I pay the $5 shipping charge and it never has products this nice.
What is the Catch of the FabFitFun Starter Box?
There is no catch, per se. This is basically a trial box to entice trial members who enjoy it to stay subscribed for future boxes. You will automatically get moved to a seasonal subscription and charged $49.99 for that subscription 21-days after you pay the $5 for your starter box. In busier times, it is not unheard of for the 21 days to pass before your starter box arrives. Most people want to see what is in the starter box before they decide whether to keep or cancel the subscription. You can cancel the subscription even before your starter box arrives though, and FabFitFun will still send it to you. Those who cancel before the 21st day get to keep the starter box without getting moved to a subscription. That means they get 4 full-size items for $1.25 each just for trying out FabFitFun.
How Often Do the Items in the FabFitFun Starter Box Change?
The items change periodically. Sometimes they change by season. Other times they change by month. At times, just one item will change in the box. Then, there are times when all four items will change.
Do All FabFitFun Starter Box Numbers Have the Same Items?
Typically, yes. Until the box ships, you never know what you’re going to get. Once it ships, you can see the Box number. If others have spoiled your Box number, then you’ll probably know what’s in it. I have seen cases where there were variations of box numbers, but this is rare. Most numbers have the same contents.
How Long Does it Take for a FabFitFun Starter Box to Ship?
You only have 21 days from the day you sign up for a starter box before it auto enrolls you in a seasonal subscription. In a perfect world, you would always get your starter box within that 21-day window. That does not always happen though. People I’ve sent the box to have received it well within the 21-day window and others have not. Know when you order the starter box that it might not arrive before you have to make the decision whether to stay subscribed or not.
FabFitFun Starter Box 2020 Overview Winter Box 20
It comes with its own magazine, as the main boxes do. This is different from the one I received with my box, but it has one of the cover models.
There is usually a card that comes with the box that goes over the box contents. The person I sent this to did not get one, but I have received all of these items from FabFitFun before. I know what they are.
Items come on white crinkle cut paper.
FabFitFun Starter Box 2020 Review Winter Box 20
The FabFitFun Starter Box 2020 Review Winter Box 20 from January has a $171 value. I own all these items, but I have only used one so far.
The Lavido Aromatic Body Lotion in Mandarin, Orange & Bergamot retails for $19 (Amazon price may vary). I received two of these in the FabFitFun Spring 2019 Editor’s Box. This lotion has a strong but pleasant aroma. It has a nice thin texture, but it still manages to moisturize in the warm weather. When it started to get cold outside, I had to put it away. My friend does not have dry skin like mine, so she might be able to try it this winter. Mine will not come back out until spring or even summer.
The Yumi Kim WANDERLUST MAKEUP TRAVEL CASE, Hanging Train Case, retails for $58 ($50 per the Yumi Kim website). I actually received this last month in FabFitFun Starter Box 18 (and have photos if you want to see them) and it is beautiful. Though I have not used it yet, I have used a different Yumi Kim bag and enjoy it. I’ve had similar bags before, but they’ve all broken. Because of that I’ve been reluctant to purchase a similar one. If this one works a while before breaking, I will be grateful. My beauty products sometimes leak, and it would be nice if the leak was contained to one compartment. Besides, it is easy to clean leaks from the plastic on these. Try saying the same thing for regular makeup bags. Hopefully, the person I sent this box to and I both love this bag!
The whish Rose Hip + Lotus Firming Sleep Mask retails for $54 (Amazon price may vary). I got this in a mystery bundle from the 2019 FabFitFun Black Friday Secret Sale. I’m always down to try a new sleeping mask, because my dry skin needs a really rich cream at night. This one promises to firm as well. While I am highly skeptical of any topical firming product, all I want is moisture. My friend does not have dry skin but she is always joking about needing to firm up. At only 32, she’s a long way from needing more firmness, but I am sure she will enjoy trying this.
The Ettika Opal Rose Necklace retails for $40. This is another item I got in the FabFitFun Spring 2019 Editor’s Box (and have photos if you want to see them). Even though I do not wear jewelry often and still have not worn this since I received it over nine months ago, I will say it is a gorgeous piece. When the light reflects off the opal and you see all the different colors, it is quite striking. It is also a dainty piece, which is the kind of jewelry I prefer, when I do wear it. My friend is not super into dainty pieces, but I have seen her wear them. She has not told me whether she plans to keep this one. If she does, we can wear them out somewhere together.
Is the FabFitFun Starter Box 2020 Review Winter Box 20 Worth It?
The box has $171 in value. We have not discussed what her personal value is yet. I know her well enough to say she will at least keep the carrying case and the firming mask. My friend is always talking about wanting her skin to be more firm despite having the skin of a 25-year-old, and I am not just saying that because she might read this. Seriously, she has beautiful skin. That case is also perfect for her, because she loves pink more than anyone else I know. Because the lotion is lightweight, she might give it a try. It is strong though, so it might clash with her perfume. If she keeps the necklace, I cannot see her wearing it often, but she would still probably wear hers more than I wear mine. In other words, yes, the box is more than worth the $5 she paid.

I'm Kimberly. Shopping is always more fun when I've found the best deal available, so I am always on the hunt. My father instilled that in me, and I love that I carry a piece of him. Sometimes, my husband and sons (12 and 7) let me shop for them, too. They do not use as many beauty products as I do. We can all benefit from nice products, even though their routine ends with moisturizer. That is when I can convince my 12-year-old to apply it.
