At $82, this is the second most expensive full-size set to purchase. It also gives more items than the others, so you have more to sample. There is also a chance you could dislike one of the three. If that happens, it would cost less to purchase two items in this set that any other gift option.

The wand really does hug every lash and clumping is nearly impossible even though it is a fiber mascara. It is like fairies make it. If it did not smudge and flake off giving me raccoon eyes, it would be perfect.

At $90, this would be the most expensive full-size set to purchase.

At $20, the Sephora Birthday Gift 2020 Sol de Janeiro has the middle value of gifts available to all members. I also predict this will be the most popular. These are heavily fragranced, not the most moisturizing, are expensive, and have glitter in them. On paper, they sound awful. Yet, they’re magical. They’re not sampled super often, so I say go for it if you’ve been wanting to see what all the fuss is about. If you’re sensitive to scents, have super dry skin, hate glitter, or do not want to risk falling in love with an expensive body product you’d have to repurchase often, you might want to select something else. A full-size 8oz Briogeo Scalp Revival™ Charcoal + Coconut Oil Micro-Exfoliating Shampoo retails for $42, and a full-size 8oz Briogeo Don’t Despair, Repair!™ Deep Conditioning Mask retails for $36. That would make the amount to purchase everything (assuming you fall in love and need the full-size) $78. At $78 to purchase the full-size for both products, it is the cheapest set to buy. It would cost less to purchase the Quarter One VIB/Rouge gift, but there is only one item in that gift.

At $9.75, the Sephora Birthday Gift 2020 Briogeo is cheapest of the options available to all members. If you do not mind investing in expensive hair care (or at least trying it out), and the hair concerns these products target might help you, I’d say grab this one. The scalp revival has to be the most gentle scalp exfoliant with the most cooling sensation I’ve ever tried. It really is something else.

Minus my slight avocado allergy, I think I could have loved that hair mask. I’d say pass on this if you would never consider purchasing high end hair products or if you are not into hair masks or exfoliating scalp products. Those who do not have scalp issues or dandruff may not need such an expensive shampoo either and this deep conditioner is a really easy sample to come by. At $21, the Sephora Birthday Gift 2020 Jo Malone is not the most expensive option available. People who want an exclusive gift or fragrance might want to try this one. I am not even a fragrance lover, but this is one that speaks to me. It is soft and subtle. This will never overtake an elevator or a small space. The drawback is it will not last all day either. Grab this is you love the way the sea smells when it meets the earth. Try this if you want to try something new that is simple and not overwhelming. Avoid it if you don’t. This gift actually made its appearance on March 16th, so anyone who redeems a VIB birthday gift after March 16th and before the Quarter Three Gift gets released will get this.

At $41.34, this is the most valuable gift of the year so far. It is also nice to see a set for VIB/Rouge members instead of a single gift. I am a huge fan of NARS blushes and NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencils, so I think most makeup lovers will enjoy this gift. Both the NARS blush and the Velvet matte lip pencils are incredible. Most people who select this gift will probably love it as long as they enjoy makeup and the colors. Neither of these shades exist in my collection, so I cannot review them.

There is no real skincare option in 2020. Yes, Sol de Janeiro is body care, but I would not use it on my face. My husband and sons would not use it at all. Sephora has done a pretty good job of offering a male option each year. While some men could pick any of these, some men cannot pick any of them. Not every man has hair, wears makeup, wants to sparkle, or uses a female perfume. Every person uses skincare, so I feel it’s a safe option each year. It was one birthday gift option I felt Sephora always did better than Ulta. That said, I still feel the Sephora gifts are better (for me) this year.

2020 Sephora Birthday Gifts Vs 2020 Ulta Birthday Gifts. Which One Is Better?

The answer is of course subjective. Two benefits that Sephora has over Ulta is members get o choose their gifts from a lineup of three or four depending on rewards level whereas Ulta members get their gifts assigned by month. Three of the four Sephora gifts also have a minimum of two products, but Ulta only offers one. When it comes to higher tiers, I think Ulta has the advantage.

Not only does the higher tier gift option for Quarter one at Sephora only have one gift (and there were times when it did last year as well), but it is not the highest value gift. There is no real birthday bonus for top tier members other than an extra choice, which costs members an item in quarter one. At Ulta, Platinum and Diamond members get a $10 birthday coupon to spend on anything. I’d say get both presents from Ulta and Sephora, but it is clear to me that Sephora birthday gifts are better for the entry rewards tier while Ulta birthday gifts are better for the higher rewards tiers.
