FabFitFun Summer 2019 Starter Box 10 Review
See FabFitFun Starter Box 2020
The person who ordered this 2019 FabFitFun Starter Box for me to review did so on 07/21/19, so he got Box 10. His box just arrived, which is why I am only now showing it. I finally offered new starter box invitations after his shipped, and the person I sent one to is already almost in receipt of it. Currently, FFF is shipping Box 15 (which I should review in a few days). There have been a lot of variations this year, but it is only the fourth someone I sent a box to sent me photos to share. Because I own all four products in this box, I will give my own thoughts. That way I inconvenience the person I sent it to as little as possible.
I have starter boxes and can send them to the first requests I see. Keep reading to see what you might get or to get some questions answered if you’ve received an invitation elsewhere. Whenever I get these invites, the person I send the box to gets it for free if s/he pays the $5 shipping charge. Anyone who does not cancel will automatically move to a seasonal subscription on the 21st day after the $5 gets charged. Either a Seasonal box (if there are any left) or an Editor’s box would start the official subscription.

How Can You Get a FabFitFun Starter Box?
FabFitFun occasionally sells these for $19.99 each, but the option to purchase the FabFitFun Starter Box is not available (at this publication date). To receive a starter box, you must get an invite via email from a FabFitFun subscriber. The problem is FabFitFun members only get a limited number of invites, and we never know when they will pop up. I’ve been subscribed for over a year, and I’ve only seen the option to send boxes twice on my account so far. Offers appear at different times on accounts, and blanket offers on most accounts are only readily available before the holidays.
What is the Guaranteed Value of a FabFitFun Starter Box?
Each box will have at least 3-4 full-size items with a minimum retail value of $75. Most of these are items FabFitFun has placed in past subscription boxes, Editor’s Boxes, Add-ons, and Edit Sales, but it is possible items we’ve never seen before could appear in these boxes.
Do I Get Any Benefit for Sending a Starter Box?
Current Subscribers will not get a referral credit for anyone who signs up after receiving one of their starter boxes. FabFitFun gets the chance to pick up the new subscriber, but it also takes a huge risk giving away so much value for the cost of shipping. To offset what it loses from customers who keep the gifts without signing up, it refrains from offering an incentive for those who refer the customers. Those who refer the customers get the benefit of knowing they helped someone score an amazing deal. After all, the Walmart Beauty Box sends me free products when I pay the $5 shipping charge and it never has products this nice.
What is the Catch?
There is no catch, per se. This is basically a trial box to entice trial members who enjoy it to stay subscribed for future boxes. You will automatically get moved to a seasonal subscription and charged $49.99 for that subscription 21-days after you pay the $5 for your starter box. In busier times, it is not unheard of for the 21 days to pass before your starter box arrives. Most people want to see what is in the starter box before they decide whether to keep or cancel the subscription. You can cancel the subscription even before your starter box arrives though, and FabFitFun will still send it to you. Those who cancel before the 21st day get to keep the starter box without getting moved to a subscription. That means they get 4 full-size items for $1.25 each just for trying out FabFitFun.
How Often Do the Items in the Starter Box Change?
All four items in this box are different from the last box, and all four items are different from the current box. They seem to be changing closer to once a month now. We’ll see if that trend continues.
The Summer 2019 Starter Box 10
It comes with a magazine, as the main boxes do. The magazine changed since the last box.
A card with the box contents comes with the box. Since FabFitFun took the time to print product cards, it is clear a great number of boxes will have the same items. A mystery bundle, which retails for $29, never has a product card. Those are random items thrown together (curated) to get rid of excess inventory.
There is a note from FabFitFun on the back of the card. This is from a past card, but I am guessing the gist or even wording is the same.
I’m having a hard time deciding if this box or the last box is the best I’ve seen. This one has a $175 value where the other had a $218 value. Both have an anchor with a product I love that has a huge value. The recipients are in for treats.
The Summer & Rose Celine Trinket Dish retails for $18. This tray is really cute. I ordered two FabFitFun Spring 2019 Editor’s Boxes, so I could have a set. Even though I’ve only used one so far, it is lovely. This is mine, but whoever gets the one he gifts will likely love it as much as I do. It looks as beautiful in person as it does onscreen.
The dr. brandt needles no more No More Baggage eye de-puffing gel retails for $42. We got this in our Spring 2019 box. I ordered two of those as well, so I have two. Because this claims it can work with or without makeup, I wanted to try it both ways before I gave the second away. So far, I have only tried it without makeup. It helps, but it is a little peach for my skin tone. Some say it pills under makeup, which is why I’ve been reluctant to try it that way.
The DIFF Cruz Sunglasses retail for $85. This was also in my FabFitFun Spring 2019 Editor’s Box, so the photo below is mine. I love these glasses. They look great without looking too oversized, like the ones in the spring box. They have a lovely purple tint that makes me sing Lorde’s “Royals.” Whoever ultimately ends up with these will probably like them.
The OUAI Leave-In Conditioner retails for $26. This was a product I already knew and loved when I received two more bottles with my spring 2019 boxes. I love leave-in conditioner, because my hair tangles easily. It is also dry and can always use more moisture. Not everyone loves this type of product as much as I do, so he should give it to me. Just kidding or am I?
Is the FabFitFun Starter Box Worth It?
The person who ordered it did so as a gift for someone else. Because the box took so long to come in, the birthday of the gift recipient passed. He ended up getting her something else. As far as these items go, he has no idea how or who he will gift them to. The glasses caught his eye, and he said he might even keep those for himself. At $85, he more than gets his $5 worth from that alone. I wish his box would have arrived in a more timely manner, because he thought subscribing to get cheap gifts was brilliant. I gift or host giveaways all the time from products I will not use. His opinion changed after the shipping delay, and he decided he is done with FabFitFun.

I'm Kimberly. Shopping is always more fun when I've found the best deal available, so I am always on the hunt. My father instilled that in me, and I love that I carry a piece of him. Sometimes, my husband and sons (13 and 8) let me shop for them, too. They do not use as many beauty products as I do. We can all benefit from nice products, even though their routine ends with moisturizer. That is when I can convince my 13-year-old to apply it.
