FabFitFun Fall 2019 Subscription Box Review With Add-ons

My Fall 2019 FabFitFun subscription box review is ready! FabFitFun is a quarterly subscription that releases one box per season. Boxes have over $200 in value. The items are always full-sized and include products from: beauty, wellness, fashion, and fitness lines. Subscribers can either pay $179.99 for an annual subscription ($20 off when buying 4 boxes up front) or $49.99 for a Seasonal subscription. Shipping is free, but sales tax gets charged (in certain states). There is usually a code to receive $10 off your first seasonal box. Those codes are fffa2p6 and FAB10Members can select add-ons at deeply discounted prices to include with their boxes. All subscribers get to customize some choice options, but Annual Subscribers (select members) get extra choices.

FabFitFun Fall 2019 Subscription Box Overview

There are 8 full-size items in this box. That makes the cost of each item $6.25 (if you paid $49.99 for the box). Of course, the cost goes down for those who paid less. Unless you select the scarf, you cannot really get a fall theme with this box.

The subscription box I received on my main account has a $303 value.

I really liked a lot of the items in the first and second category. Instead of paying an extra $10 to $15 to get one extra of each ($25), I opened a new account for $39.99 (with a $10 discount) and got a box full of items. Since I originally thought I did not want three boxes, I did order an extra number two customization for $10 on my second box. The subscription box I received on my new account has a $288 value.

I wanted another cheese board. Getting a third box also let me test my luck with the mystery item (did not get what I wanted), and get the item in the third category I still wanted. Everything else was just a bouns. The third box was ordered was after the other two arrived. Of course, I opened a new account for $39.99 (with a $10 discount) to get a box full of items and a free mystery gift. This subscription box I received on my new account has a $249 value (my mystery gift was $7 over the quote).

The items I selected for my first box were the ones I would have picked if I only had one choice, so these are always the items I want more.

There were three heart designs for the boxes this season. I received the pink, yellow, purple, and blue on all three subscriptions. My second box shipped on its own, so it got dirty in shipment. I will recycle that, but I will likely keep the others for storage.

Everything comes on top of white crinkle cut paper wrapped in white tissue, sealed with a sticker.

This is my second box.

This is my third box.

Every box teams with a philanthropic cause. This box supports City of Hope. It works to combine leading-edge research and innovation with compassionate care to create medical miracles in the fight against cancer, diabetes and other life-threatening diseases.

Each box comes with a magazine. The Cover model for this feature, Meghan Trainor, is the one who selected City of Hope as the charitable recipient for this season.

There is a note from the editor.

It goes over all the available products available for this box.

This includes brief descriptions along with the cost to purchase each item.

With more customization, the feature now spreads across three pages.

There are a lot of options for beauty products in this box.

The roundup to cover them, Beautypedia, spans two pages.

There was a feature on the scarf, which is soft and stunning.

There was a sneak peek for the upcoming Fall Edit Sale, which starts on September 23rd. It also includes a spoiler for the Winter 2019 FabFitFun Box. Looks like the answer to the clue is a faux fur blanket.

My favorite section is always the discount codes we get when we shop elsewhere.

Once again, there were so many offers that they spanned across two pages.

These boxes usually have a code from Hello Fresh for a discount. I have never used one, so I like to post mine for anyone who may want to try it.

FabFitFun Fall 2019 Shipping Schedule

There are three shipping groups. All annual subscriber boxes bill and ship in group one. Seasonal subscribers who select add-ons, extra customizations, are international, have a military address, or are overseas ship in Group two. Group 1 and 2 have some overlap, so it really is one large group. The final group is seasonal subscribers who add nothing extra to their boxes. Group 1 and 2 got billed on August 7th and all boxes should ship by September 6th. The third group will get billed on August 20th with all boxes to get shipped by September 19th. My boxes went out in group one, 08/12/19 (annual) and group two, 08/08/19 (new seasonal). They got delivered together on 08/15/19.

All FabFitFun subscribers got to customize three choice options.

Annual subscribers got to customize five items, and seasonal subscribers got to customize three. This is only available during the customization window. First time subscribers can choose as they sign up or they will get a randomly selected box from the current season or an editor’s box if the seasonal box is sold-out.

The window for the Fall 2019 FabFitFun box was from July 29th (annual start) to August 1st (seasonal start) to August 5th at 11:59pm. Members get one choice from each customization row included with the cost of the box. For those who want more than choice per row, they can add extra choices in a given customization row for $15, $10, or $7 each as long as supplies last. Those who arrive at the beginning of the customization window can usually add every extra choice if they want to. Popular items will run out of inventory leaving those who arrive later with less extra options.

FabFitFun Customization Options Fall 2019 Box

All Members Can Choose

FabFitFun Fall 2019 Customization 1: Plush Ultra Soft Plaid Scarf ($75), Anthropologie Travel Yoga Mat ($50), amika Strand Perfect Ceramic Styler ($80), or a mystery item ($55). You get 1 included with the cost of your box. Add extras for $15 each while supplies last.

When I moved my stuff back home, a lot of it never made it back into the house. My hair straightener is one of the many things stuck in my garage. I’ve been reluctant to purchase a new one, because the one I own works fine. That made this amika Strand Perfect Ceramic Styler perfect for me. Now, I have a straightener inside my house, and I know exactly where it is. Bonus points that it is prettier than my other straightener. Hopefully, it works as well as the other one.

The main reason I wanted a second box is this Plush Ultra Soft Plaid Scarf. I’ve been building my scarf collection, and I did not have a piece that looks like this one. It is so soft, and I know it is going to keep me warm. I love it already.

I really did not want the yoga mat, given how thin it is. Some people were getting Elemis, Grown Alchemist, and Kate Somerville with their mystery gifts. With the hope of any of those, I went for that as my customization 1 on my third box. Sadly, I did not fare as well. My items were the DERMASURI Deep Exfoliating Mitt ($20), and the DERMELECT SELF ESTEEM Beauty Sleep Serum ($42). At $62, these come in over the $55 quote. Even though they would not have been my choice, I will try them. They could surprise me.

FabFitFun Fall 2019 Customization 2: Kate Spade Out To Lunch New York Lunch Tote ($30), NassifMD® Detox Pads Complexion Perfection Pads ($45), Kut from The Kloth Slim Striped Wallet ($60), or Twine Cheese Board with Plate ($30). You get 1 included with the cost of your box. Add extras for $10 each while supplies last.

This is the second box in a row where I wanted all four items in category two. I did not want to order a third box or pay for more than one extra add-on, so I had to decide which item I would exclude. Ultimately, I settled on skipping the wallet, because it does not have a coin purse.

I selected the Twine Cheese Board with Plate on my main box, because I do not own a cheese board. It was the only item in this category I did not own. Once it arrived, I wanted a set. This is an individual size, not a serving platter. So, it would work better in pairs.

The board comes with a removable ceramic plate, a sharp knife, and a two pronged fork. It is really nice.

I selected the Kate Spade Out To Lunch New York Lunch Tote for my second box. Somehow, my selection for this disappeared from my dashboard. FabFitFun agreed to send it to me separately. It was worth the wait. Yes, it is small and lightweight, but it is really cute. This is perfect for a light lunch or snacks.

The item I tried to order and pay an extra $10 for was the NassifMD® Detox Pads Complexion Perfection Pads. Since the lunchbox was removed from my dashboard, this became my box option. I like trying different chemical exfoliants. This is one I have not tried yet, and $10 (or $6.25 if it’s your main box choice) is a pretty inexpensive way to try it.

I got the cheese board in the third box, so I have my set now. My husband already knows we will be snacking on a lot of cheese. We’ve kept the fridge stocked with it so far.

FabFitFun Fall 2019 Customization 3: The Better Skin Co. Skin Lava Magik ($32), BaubleBar Farah Ear Crawlers ($34), or Cosmedix Pure C Vitamin C Mixing Crystals ($54). You get 1 included with the cost of your box. Add extras for $10 each while supplies last.

The item I selected in my main box was the Cosmedix Pure C Vitamin C Mixing Crystals. I’ve been getting a lot of age spots, and I wonder if a more pure form of Vitamin C like this would help. It will take me a while before I know, but this choice lets me test this theory for a relatively low cost.

I do not usually wear jewelry, but I like having a few pieces for the rare times I do. These BaubleBar Farah Ear Crawlers really caught my eye, and I do not own anything like them. Crawlers always look so elegant, so I thought these would be the perfect earrings to wear to my next formal event. Now, I just need an invitation.

I finally get to try the The Better Skin Co. Skin Lava Magik, because I ordered that for my third box. This is a 3-in-1 cleanser, exfoliant, and mask. That seems interesting. It has to work better one way over the others, and I intend to figure it out.

Select Members Can Choose

FabFitFun Fall 2019 Customization 4: Eparé Dual Salt and Pepper Manual Mill ($21.95), Afterspa Hair Towel Wrap ($18), trèStiQue Mini Eye Essentials set of 4 ($48), or Skinvolve Body Boost Gel ($45). You get 1 included with the cost of your box. Add extras for $7 each while supplies last.

I would not have minded any of the items in this category. As I only got to choose on my main account, I picked the only item that does not already exist in my collection. That was the Skinvolve Body Boost Gel. It claims to target fat during workouts. The claim seems far-fetched, but I figured getting it in the box gives me a chance to try it for a very low cost.

I hoped I would get something else in my second box. Because it is seasonal, I did not get to choose. Sadly, I did not. This could be a good thing if I love it or it will blow if the stuff is awful.

Once again, I was hoping to get something different in seasonal box three. Sadly, or not so sadly if I end up loving it, I got the body gel again.

FabFitFun Fall 2019 Customization 5: Aromatherapy Associates Deep Relax Roller Ball ($29), Wander Beauty Baggage Claim Gold Eye Masks 6 Pack ($25), or SKIN&CO Roma Truffle Therapy Face Toner ($30). You get 1 included with the cost of your box. Add extras for $7 each while supplies last.

This is another category where I would not have minded any of the products. I use toner everyday and only use the other two as needed. That made the SKIN&CO Roma Truffle Therapy Face Toner the obvious choice for me. It is a toner I have not tried yet, and I always like trying new ones.

I received the Wander Beauty Baggage Claim Gold Eye Masks 6 Pack in my second box. This is a product I’ve received in other boxes, but I have not tried yet. An eye mask is always nice when eyes are puffy. If I do not like these, they also make great gifts.

I received the Aromatherapy Associates Deep Relax Roller Ball in my third box, and that made me really happy. Now, I have everything in this category, as well as category 3! There are times when I really need to relax. We’ll see if this helps.

Items in Every Fall 2019 FabFitFun Box

There are 8 items in every box. The first 5 items vary in each box while the last 3 are stationary and come in every box.

The Aveda damage remedy daily hair repair retails for $31. I always use a leave in treatment in my hair, and I know Aveda is a good brand. Getting to try this product makes me happy. This is probably an item I will keep two of.

The Harper + Ari Exfoliating Sugar Cubes retail for $16. It smells amazing. I cannot wait to try these. My husband already stole one, so I only have two left.

The Human + Kind Body Souffle retails for $18. I initially only got this in my second box, because it was missing in my main box. Customer service mailed me the missing tube though. Body lotion is something I use after every shower, so I go through a lot. I can never have too much. Lotion makes a great gift, but there is still a chance I will keep all three of these.

My Second Fall 2019 FabFitFun Box Review

I used a $10 discount code (above and below) to get this box for $39.99. That was a $10 savings over purchasing it in add-ons. Between the savings and getting the option to choose the first three items, this was a no-brainer. My plan was to get the extra customization with the $10 savings, but it did not work out that way.

I already covered all the items above, so I will just briefly say that I have no regrets paying $40 for all these extra items. Those who end up buying three or more extra choice options in different customization categories should consider purchasing second box instead. You will get the items anyway, plus extras of the items in all boxes.

My Third Fall 2019 FabFitFun Box Review

I used a $10 discount code (above and below) to get this box for $39.99. That was a $10 savings over purchasing it in add-ons. Between the savings and getting the option to choose the first three items, this was a no-brainer.

I already covered all the items above, so I will just briefly say that I have no regrets paying $40 for all these extra items. Those who end up buying three or more extra choice options in different customization categories should consider purchasing second box instead. You will get the items anyway, plus extras of the items in all boxes.

I also signed up when FabFitFun was offering a free Mystery Gift.

My mystery gifts were: the 111 Skin rose gold sheet masks -set of 5 ($160), and the 2.5oz Whish Exfoliating Foot Mask ($32). Both of these items, which added $192 in value to my box were in the summer box. That just means even more for me, unless I gift them.

FabFitFun Fall 2019 Add-Ons

My favorite part of this subscription is the ability to purchase add-ons. These products get discounted 30-70% off. The add-on window opened to select members on July 27th at 9am. It opened to seasonal members on July 30th at 9am. Members were only charged for items that were still in their carts at 11:59pm on August 6th. This means items are not officially sold-out until then. As members remove things from their cart throughout the sale, you can add them to yours. I suggest adding items you missed to your favorites, so you can periodically check them until the sale is over.

I only had add-ons on my main box, because I secured everything A wanted before the seasonal window opened.

FabFitFun Fall 2019 Bundle Add-Ons

Bundles are great to purchase when you want all or most of the items in the curation, because you save over buying all items individually. Even when there is a weak item (based on personal preference in the bundle), you should consider the bundle if it costs about the same as the items you want. When it is only $1-$5 more, you can always gift the superfluous item. The best scenario is when the bundle with the item you do not want costs less than purchasing the items you do want separately. It is rare, but that does happen.

FabFitFun Fall 2019 Add-ons Mystery Bundle $29

The mystery bundle was $29 and usually has a value over $100. It includes 3-5 items. I have a separate article to track all Mystery Bundles I order, so I will never go into great detail in the haul I purchased the bundle with. If you want more details on this bundle or any other mystery bundle I order, view that article. My items were: GAIA by Neon & Co Pearl Illusion Shower Gel ($35), The Saem Urban Eco Waratah Essence Lotion ($23.49), Madame Paulette Professional Stain Removal Kit ($39.99), and Mytagalongs Festival Emergency Kit ($28).

That brings the value for this $29 mystery bundle to $126.48. I had to double check everything, because I could not believe these items were this expensive. There is no way I would have paid full retail on any of them. They are all new to my collection, so I will keep them. Had I purchased the items separately through FabFitFun, I would have paid $49. Getting them in the bundle saved $20.

Single FabFitFun Fall 2019 Add-ons

The AHAVA Eucalyptus Dead Sea Bath Salt retail for $22. FabFitFun sells it for $7. I really like these and hope FabFitFun keeps carrying them, so I can get them at a discount.

The Homegrown Gourmet by Architec Harvest Medium Prep Cups retail for $12.99. FabFitFun sells them for $7.

These are a great size, really sturdy, and the blue matches a lot of my other dishes. I wish I grabbed a second set.

The beautyblender liquid blendercleanser retails for $30. FabFitFun sells this for $11. I really enjoy this, but the price always prevented me from purchasing it. When it popped up in the Summer Sale, I almost got it. Sadly, it did not survive necessary budget cuts. My line of thought was I already have enough brush cleaners for the forseeable future. Seeing it again was a sign I needed it.

The beautyblender chill swirl solid retails for $16. FabFitFun sells this for $7. This is my favorite cleanser for sponges. Getting it in the little container with the silicone insert for $7 is wonderful.

It makes most of my sponges look as good as new where some others leave them looking stained. This is probably the add-on I was happiest about.

The Green Goo Cold Sore Relief retails for $8.95. FabFitFun sells this for $5. I do not get cold sores very often, but my husband will usually get one every year or two. It is nice to have a product like this on hand, because you have to put it on right when you feel the tingle.

I would rather have one ready and waiting that expires before I can use it than need one and not have it. That actually happens sometimes. At least, it will hurt less if neither of us use this. It costs a lot less than Abreva. Hopefully, it works as well as Abreva though.

The Gustus Vitae Cider Mill Classics: Coffee, Donuts & More Set retails for $35. FabFitFun sells it for $14. It includes: Caramel Apple Cane Sugar, Spicy Chocolate Cinnamon Cane Sugar, and Vanilla Pumpkin Spice Cane Sugar.

I like the containers. They are magnetic and sturdy but not too heavy or bulky. Usually, I would transfer spices into my uniformed jars, but I will keep these as is.

I anticipate using these a lot this fall. These are great, fall flavors.

The Gustus Vitae Fall Into Autumn Cooking Set retails for $35. FabFitFun sells it for $14. It includes: Taste of California Seasoning (Salt-Free), Montreal Steak Seasoning, and Turkey Burger Seasoning.

These have the same containers as the sweet set, so I have some uniformity with these six.

I’ve already fallen in love with Taste of California. It is such a beautiful blend of spices that all work wonderfully together. Now, I can’t wait to try the other two.

The Nuva Spa Exfoliating Foot Peel Masks retail for $14.88. FabFitFun sells them for $5. I love peeling my feet mostly for the end result.

Foot peels can get really expensive. The Baby Foot one I reviewed is $25, and the Patchology one I reviewed is $20.

I want to find a cheaper one that really works, so I can peel more often. Whether this works or not, I will give it a separate article once I try it. Use the search bar if you’re reading this long after the publication date.

The Nuva Spa Natural Bamboo Bath Brush Set with Cellulite Massager retails for $19.88. FabFitFun sells it for $7. I bought 2, so I spent $14.

I bought the second one for my husband, because I had a feeling he would like it and try to steal components on mine. The funny thing is he laughed when I told him I was buying it. He’s already fallen in love with several pieces. Who is laughing now?

The Skindinavia The Makeup Finishing Spray retails for $29. FabFitFun sells this for $9. I know Skindinavia makes the Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray. Even if this is different, I figure it has to be good. I plan on writing an article comparing the two after I’ve had some time to compare this with that.

The Stretch by Forever New Refreshing Spray retails for $24. FabFitFun sells it for $11. I figure this will work like fancy Fabreeze.

If it does not work better than Fabreeze, I will stick with the cheaper option in the future. At least this sale gave me a chance to try it for a deal.

The Spongelle Pumpkin Spice Body Wash Infused Buffer retails for $16. FabFitFun sells it for $7. I did not think I would purchase a Spongelle. FabFitFun sends them in Editor’s boxes, and I figured I would reluctantly use or give them away.

Why? The only one I’ve tried was a little rough for me. I already have another one from an Editor’s Box to give the brand a second try. Then, I saw this Pumpkin scented one. Everything pumpkin is for me, including this. If I could eat and smell like pumpkin year round, I would.

The The Vintage Cosmetic Company Bath Pillow Pink retails for $9.50. FabFitFun sells this for $5. I’ve wanted to lay my head down in the tub before, but it always felt uncomfortable. When I brought a towel to prop it, I noticed it slid around.

This pillow has suction cups, and can be folded and stored when it is not in use. I hope it works as well as I think it will.

The PJ Salvage Give Love Pajama Set in Black retails for $78. FabFitFun sells them for $34. I wanted some comfy pajamas that also looked nice. These seem to fit the bill nicely. It is a bonus that they feel very high-quality. Hopefully, that means they will last for years.

Anyone who spent at least $15 in add-ons had the option to add 3 Months of Premium Wireless from Mint Mobile (unlocked phones only), and Barilla Chickpea Rotini for free. I only added the Mint Mobile, because I have a lot of nieces and nephews and figured one of them might want this. Verizon is my carrier, and I will keep it that way for now. The Chickpea Rotini was not very good. My younger son could not take more than a bite. I was unable to finish mine. Even though my older son finished his, he said he did not want any more. This is a kid who never turns down pasta. According to his palette, this is not a good substitute for the traditional pasta.

FabFitFun Fall 2019 Subscription Box Overview

This box has a $1559.56 value ($303 subscription 1 + $288 subscription 2  + $30 extra customization + $249 subscription 3 + $192 Mystery Gift + $497.56 add-ons). I paid $39.99 (before tax) for the second subscription on 08/01/19, $39.99 for the third subscription on 09/16/19, and $179 (before tax) for add-ons on 08/06/19. The amount of my first box was reimbursed by FabFitFun leaving my total out-of-pocket expenses at $258.98 plus tax. My discount was over 83% off. That brings the average box value for the year to $338.65, because I only use the main box items to calculate this. My personal value on the main box is $303, because I will keep everything in it. On the second box, my personal value is at least $154, because I will keep all the new items. I should get at least $153 in personal value on the third box. If I keep any of the duplicate items, my value could raise.

Was the Fall 2019 FabFitFun Subscription Box Worth It?

This box is definitely worth more than the $39.99 to $49.99 people would pay for it. I would still rank the Summer 2018 box as my favorite, but this is a good box. If I did not think this was a good box, I would not have purchased two of them, so that is a given. Of the last six boxes, I have purchased two each time. That is because I find they are more than worth it. This is my favorite subscription box service. When you combine great box items with a stack of out-of-this world add-ons, it makes the overall deal incredible and way too good to pass up.

I'm Kimberly. Shopping is always more fun when I've found the best deal available, so I am always on the hunt. My father instilled that in me, and I love that I carry a piece of him. Sometimes, my husband and sons (12 and 7) let me shop for them, too. They do not use as many beauty products as I do. We can all benefit from nice products, even though their routine ends with moisturizer. That is when I can convince my 12-year-old to apply it.

  1. I skipped this box because nothing interested me. I did pick up a couple of add-ons.

  2. There were a lot of good add-ons, so I am sure you scored some great deals. I cut into my add-on budget when I purchased the second box, but I have no regrets.

Deal or No Deal? What Do You Think?
