When I received the Sephora Beauty Insider Sweeps email stating it was “a chance to win a million,” I thought it was pretty cool. That was until I saw how many points it takes to enter the giveaway. Whenever it costs a lot to enter a promotion, I usually opt out. Yes, the points spent are worth it for the winner, but the losers, and there will be a lot, only help Sephora remove some points from their books. As that would improve Sephora’s balance sheets, it is a no-brainer for Sephora. But, why should us Beauty Insiders dump our hard earned points into a contest where the odds of winning are likely incredibly slim? Of course, we cannot know the odds until all of the entires are tabulated, but Sephora never would have hosted this if it did not expect at least 1 million points to get redeemed. Anything redeemed over that lets them get 100 points off the books for less than $1. Overall, it will make the finance department happy.
I have one timeline where I list all major: Promotions, Sales, Deals, GWP, Promo Codes, and Events. Those who want to see an overall idea of what to expect this year should stop by. The promotion started on August 8th, and I’ve tried since then to talk myself out of entering. After all, it’s a fool’s bet, and I am not much of a gambler, even though I play some mean poker. I prefer giveaways or contests where you enter for free. If you lose, you was away with nothing. No regret, because you tried without spending money or points to get there. Well, I caved today. This is not a recommendation for you to follow my poor example. It is actually in my best interest if you don’t. With less entries, the odds of winning get higher. There are also less fools who feel ripped off from their points.
So, why am I writing this article when I am telling you not to enter? I thought it might be cool not only to share my experience, but thought it could be pretty wild if I actually won. Someone has to, right?
The options are one entry for 300 points, 2 entries for 500 points, or 5 entries for 1000 points. Ever the deal shopper, I did not want to pay 300 points knowing I could get it for less. I also did not want to spend 1000. That is a lot, so I opted for 2 entries for 500 points. Wish me luck. A million dollars would be nice.
All joking aside, I wish my fellow entrants luck. While I would never expect to win, it would be amazing. My newest giveaway is getting posted soon, and the odds of winning it are A LOT better. It is also free to enter, so come back to the blog in a few days for the link.

I'm Kimberly. Shopping is always more fun when I've found the best deal available, so I am always on the hunt. My father instilled that in me, and I love that I carry a piece of him. Sometimes, my husband and sons (12 and 7) let me shop for them, too. They do not use as many beauty products as I do. We can all benefit from nice products, even though their routine ends with moisturizer. That is when I can convince my 12-year-old to apply it.
