Causebox Summer 2019 Welcome Box Review and a $10 Off Coupon Code

My Causebox Summer 2019 Welcome Box review is ready. I ordered this on July 13th, and it arrived on July 20th. That turnaround was very impressive. Considering I only had my original summer box eight days before this arrived, I had not even begun exploring that one. Causebox includes a mix of: exclusive, ethically made products from a wide range of items. They are always full-sized, and the value of the box will always be over $200. There are 6-8 full size items in every box. Each item is cruelty free, vegan whenever possible, and always socially conscious. This is a quarterly subscription program. There is one box per season. Welcome boxes are usually available between seasons. Those who sign up between seasonal boxes will get a welcome box. Those who sign up before the fall boxes get announced will get a version of this welcome box.

Current members will not get a welcome box unless they start a second subscription or contact customer service and request one on their main account. This benefit is particularly helpful for annual members who want to customize. All products are taxed (except for Canadians). Annual subscriptions (4 boxes pre-paid up front with a $20 discount) are $199.80. The cost for the Seasonal subscription is $54.95 per box. Click here to get $10 off your first seasonal box. Membership is charged on the day the account is activated and on the 1st of the month in March, June, September, and December for subsequent seasons. Annual Subscribers get to make choices on some items. This is known as Causebox Custom. They will receive an email one week before the bill date with the options. Seasonal subscribers receive a random box.

Causebox Summer 2019 Welcome Box Subscription Box Overview

There are 9 full-size items, including the art print. That makes the cost of each item $6.11 (if you paid $54.95 for the box). Of course, the cost goes down for those who paid less. This box is themed beautifully for summer.

The box I received is really cute. It looks like life on the bottom of the sea floor. If the box did not get dirty during shipping, I would have repurposed it. I will recycle it though.

Everything comes on top of white crinkle cut paper wrapped in white tissue, sealed with a sticker.

Each box comes with a magazine. It feels more like newspaper, so I am betting it’s recycled.

It comes with a note from the editor.

There are features for some products in the box.

My favorite section is where we get the exclusive coupon codes.

Boxes usually ship within two weeks of your order date. After they are shipped, it can take 2-8 businessss days for them to arrive. Shipping confirmations are emailed. As this is a supplemental box, the shipping schedule variess a bit. My box arrived one week after I ordered it.

Causebox Summer 2019 Review

The only variation from one box to the next is on product colors or patterns. That means everyone received $323.63 in value for the Summer 2019 Causebox. Causebox has one item overvalued, so it lists a slightly higher starting value in error. If you feel the $10 Art Print (post card) is there to overvalue the box, you might look at this like $313.63 in value for seven full-size products.

The GLASS LADDER & CO. MEGAN Portfolio Clutch in Blush Pink, Navy Blue, or Natural Beige retails for $120. This is the main reason I ordered the box.

I wanted a new portfolio to hold important documents, and the one I was using was nowhere near as nice as this one. While I would have dealt with any color, I was really hoping for beige.

It looks so classic, so I am glad that is the color I received. This vegan leather (pleather) bag was made in California. The construction is gorgeous.

There is a double clasp on the front, which gives it some room to stretch depending on the items you place inside. I also like the large pocket out there, because I will store flat things I need quick access to there.

There are a lot of pockets and dividers inside that could easily hold a number of things. The obvious slots are for pens and credit cards, but you are only limited by your imagination. I wish the diagonal pockets on the back wall were rectangles instead. While the diagonal pockets are visually stunning, they are more shallow and will limit what they can hold.

The biggest pocket on the back wall is designed for laptops. This is even called a laptop bag on the brand’s website. My 13″ MacBook does not really fit inside, so I cannot use this that way. As that was not my intention, it is okay for me. Those who intended to use it that way are likely disappointed. It does claim it is compatible with 12.5 X 8.5 laptops, but most laptops are larger than this. Causebox should have ordered the MEGAN XL bag instead of this for its box. More customers could have used this as intended. That one holds a 13″ laptop and is only $10 more. While I feel this is extremely overpriced at $120, I think the blow would have been softened if it at least held most laptops.

The FAIR SEAS SUPPLY CO. TURKISH TOWEL in sand or sea retails for $44. It is made from 100% certified organic Turkish cotton. This quick-drying, light weight towel is also visually stunning.

I really would not have minded either color. This beige is classic and beautiful, but the blue one would have paired nicely with the kimono I am getting from FabFitFun.

The reduce Everyday Insulated Wine Tumbler retails for $12.99. This one retails for $2 more at Target, so I linked the direct brand. My husband insists this is only for cold beverages, but I cannot find any information online to back up his claim. Nevertheless, it did come in the summer box. A stainless steel drink holder keeping drinks cold in the heat seems like a challenge. I would assume the metal will heat up, but I will experiment and see how it goes.

My husband was planning on stealing the white one I received in the summer box. Now that it repeated (but in blue), he wants this one instead. That works out, because I prefer the white one.

The MARINA DE BUCHILUMIÈLA necklaces in You are my Sunshine or I Love You to the Moon and Back retail for $39. I like the moon necklace more, but it only comes in silver through this Causebox.

Because gold looks better on me, I am happy I received the You are my sunshine necklace. Jewelry is not really my thing, but I do like to have some on hand for the rare occasions when I wear it. This is really pretty and dainty.

The LUNA NECTAR The Metamorphic Jade Roller retails for $25. I already had a jade roller, but I find this one to be more sturdy.

It is really cooling and relaxing. I doubt it will have any long-term benefits, but you never know.

The ZOYA Nail Polish Set of 3, which retails for $30, comes in Naked Manicure Buff Perfector, Purity, and Mia. Each polish is the full size 0.5oz one that retails for $10 each. If you buy a 4-pack, you could get the same $30 price, so I would recommend that over this (assuming you can even find a place to purchase this).

My Mia (which is pink) was missing, but I did get two Naked Manicure Buff Perfectors. As I received three, I decided just to keep the wrong set without saying anything. Somewhere out there is a set that has two Mia polishes in it. I got the better end of that deal, because a perfector is more useful in duplicate form than a color polish (unless you really love the color).

I apologize that I could not get a clear photo, but I will eventually upload this on a swatch spoon as my other base coats and treatments are. This is what the Naked Manicure Buff Perfector looks like. It is clear with a peach tint. The finish is semi glossy and smooth.

The ZOYA Purity photo looks like it does in real life. Yes, it is a little streaky, but I only swatch polishes once. With an extra pass, you could probably even this out. I will eventually transfer this to a swatch spoon like my other white polishes. It has a semi matte and smooth finish.

The 0.8oz Klei Nourish Coconut Milk & Chamoile Pink Clay Mask is worth $38 value the 3oz full-size. Causebox lists this with a $38 value. According to the direct site, the 3oz jar has a net product weight of 1.1oz. This is listed at 0.8oz. I measured the jar with the product in it. It came to 3.79oz. When I removed the product, it came to 2.96oz. That means there is 0.83oz of product, which is very close to the 0.8oz promised. Because it takes 1.1oz of product to equal the full-size, this is worth $27.64. Mine was actually worth a little more, because I got more than the advertised 0.8oz of product. Nevertheless, I am using the value for the 0.8oz net weight of the product. During the testing phase, I lost some product anyway, so I am probably back to where I should be.

This smells nice, and I really like the idea of a clay mask I can make as I go. As someone who does not use clay masks often, they dry out before I can finish them. If I like this product, powder might be the way to go.

The ALTRU MACRAME PLANT HANGER retails for $15. This is very well-made. So far, I’ve been impressed with the Causebox in house brand products. It looks very sturdy, and the construction is beautiful. I think they should consider opening a shop where it sells the products it makes. Until then, I cannot link them. If you want the items, you have to buy the box they are in or hope they pop up in a future box.

Antra Svarcs Art Print retails for $10. I am not sure who would pay that and I mean no offense to the artist. The piece is nice, but it is not an original.

This is a mass printed post card. It should be advertised no higher than $1.99. For those who choose to frame it as a 5×7 piece of art, they might feel more inclined to deem this worthy of the quoted price.

There were two options, so it would have been nice to receive the ocean one in this box. I already received the sand one in another box making this my second.

Causebox Summer 2019 Welcome Box Overview

This box has a $323.63 value. I paid $44.95 plus tax (used a promo code to join). While I would never pay $10 for the post card and think it is hilarious that there is a value assigned at all, I think all the other items are fine. I will probably not wear the necklace much and may not use the plant hanger, but I will get a lot of use out of the other items. There is not an item in here that I will not keep, so my personal value is also $323.63. That brings the average box value for the year on the Welcome Box to $323.63, because it is my first box. If there was another welcome box for another season, I am not even aware.

Was the Causebox Summer 2019 Welcome Box Worth It?

This box is definitely worth more than the $44.95 to $54.95 people would pay for it. I prefer this one to the box offered over the summer. Because I think that one was easily worth the cost, this one is a no brainer. The funny thing is I kind of wanted the portfolio from the spring box, but I was not really sold on many of the other items. By waiting, I was able to get the same portfolio with items I like more than the ones that came in the spring box. It did combine the item I wanted most with the item I wanted least from the spring box, so it was not a total win. Who knows, maybe I will find a use for the plant hanger after all. Seeing the sponge, the glow mask, or the mist from the spring box would have made this a better box, but it is still really nice. Getting a second cup from the summer box was nice, because my husband wanted to steal it. Now, we each have our own.

Causebox Summer 2019 Welcome Box 2

If you subscribe between August 1st and September 1st (when the fall boxes become available), you will get the Causebox Summer 2019 Welcome Box 2 instead of the one I reviewed above. There are some overlapping products.

I'm Kimberly. Shopping is always more fun when I've found the best deal available, so I am always on the hunt. My father instilled that in me, and I love that I carry a piece of him. Sometimes, my husband and sons (12 and 7) let me shop for them, too. They do not use as many beauty products as I do. We can all benefit from nice products, even though their routine ends with moisturizer. That is when I can convince my 12-year-old to apply it.

Deal or No Deal? What Do You Think?
