What do you do with all those foil packets you collect? Trying a foil is a great way to see if your skin reacts to the product, you cannot tolerate the smell, the consistency is annoying, or if there is anything about the product that bothers you. Sampling a foil and thinking you need to have that product in your life is rare, but it does happen. This is most likely to happen with products where you can see instant results. My plan is to try a foil of something new or something I have not used in a long time every day during a challenge month. To give my skin a break from constant new products, I will only complete foil challenges in even months. Feel free to take part in this challenge with me. If you are a fellow deal shopper, I bet you have a lot of foils stockpiled in your collection.
I suggest trying a variety of new products instead of too many of one type. Too much change can irritate the skin, and it easier to see how a specific product reacts when you are not introducing new items to that area too often. If you have sensitive skin, I also recommend you only try one new product a day to know what is causing irritation should you react to something. The 30 products I’ve selected for June 2019 are below. As I use them, I will edit in my first impressions. They will not necessarily get used in the order listed. I want freedom to grab whatever item I want each day and write about the products when I choose to. Some foils are big enough for multiple uses, so I may come back and edit more detailed reviews if I notice anything else from extended use.
7th Heaven Green Tea Peel-Off
ApotheCARE rosehip oil geranium aloe vera conditioner the booster – My hair did feel a little softer than usual, but my frizz was about the same.
ApotheCARE rosehip oil geranium aloe vera shampoo the booster – My hair was about as tangled after using this as it usually is.
Chanel La Solution 10 de Chanel Sensitive Skin Cream – This was nice. It moisturized great. For the price, I need more than nice though.
Christophe Robin Antioxidant Cleansing Milk – My hair was softer and less frizzy with this.
Christophe Robin Antioxidant Conditioner – I think this helped my hair, because I did not have as many tangles to comb out as I usually do.
Dr Dennis Gross alpha beta daily glow moisture
Dr Dennis Gross Ferulic + Retinol Wrinkle Recovery Peel – I did notice more of a difference when I used this from the first time I tried it. While I still think this is one you have to use a while before you see any results, my skin did feel softer. That’s a good sign it is exfoliating.
elf Hydrating Water Sheet Mask
First Aid Beauty Coconut Skin Smoothe Priming Moisturizer
fresh Soy Conditioning Eye Makeup Remover
Garnier Fructis Smoothing Treatment 1 Minute Hair Mask – My hair was so soft, moisturized, and sleek looking after using this. It even looked a lot less frizzy than it usually does. This is amazing.
Glossier priming moisturizer – I did not like the way this smelled. It could have gone bad, but I would be disappointed if it smells like that naturally. All day, I kept smelling it. My skin did look smooth, but I did not apply any makeup over it to see how it paired. For a makeup free day, it added some moisture with some light blurring.
Guerlain Abeille Royale Facial Treatment Oil
Jergens Wet Skin Moisturizer with Nourishing Monoi Oil – Unlike the Nivea product that you rinse off, you leave this one on. I do appreciate that I can apply this to wet skin and go. When my skin is wet, the lotion just glides on with minimal effort. Thanks to my bath robe, I do not even have to towel off. My skin absorbs whatever the robe doesn’t as I finish my routine. Working moisturizer into dry skin takes more time and effort so this is convenient for those who want to moisturize but do not have as much time. It definitely moisturizes, and I am more than willing to use this in spring and summer when my skin does not need more moisture. While it is not as moisturizing as almost any cream I apply to dry skin right after washing, it works a lot better than any you have to rinse off. It is also nice for people who like to get dressed right away without the feeling of moisturizer that has not yet sunk into the skin bothering them. I am not one of those people, because I love the feeling of moisturizer on my skin.
Kneipp Intensive cream Cellulite
La Mer the soft fluid long wear foundation Natural 12 – This was a little yellow for my skin tone, but the formula is beautiful. Other than it clinging to one dry patch I did not even know I had (sometimes you have to put makeup on to see them, because they do not appear on a bare face), it looked natural. It just looked like skin. I would not pay what it charges, but I can see why people who can afford it love it.
MD Solar Sciences Mineral Beauty Balm Light/Medium – I really enjoy this product. It is like a primer, BB cream, and SPF in one. It gives very light, matte coverage that lasts all day. This was wonderful on a day outside when I did not want to wear a lot of makeup.
Nivea In-Shower Body Lotion Radiant Silk – Even in the summer, I need more moisture. My skin did not even last 12 hours before it started to feel dry and itchy.
Ojon damage reverse Restorative Hair Treatment Plus – I did not notice a huge difference, so I do not think it justifies its price. My hair did feel a little softer, but it did not feel stronger or look more shiny.
Omorovicza Deep Cleansing Mask – This gave me a slight rash. It is not the first Omorovicza product I’ve been allergic to, so I think it regularly uses an ingredient that does not work for me. Other than that, it did make my skin look cleaner and brighter. Those not allergic will probably enjoy it.
Origins GinZing Refreshing Eye Cream – This hydrates nicely and adds a beautiful layer of luminosity to the under eye. I think it makes me look really awake.
Paula’s Choice Resist Weightless Body Treatment 2% BHA – The sample was not big enough for me to know if it does what it claims. I can say that I am not allergic to it and it provides enough hydration on its own. You do not need to add another moisturizer on top of it.
Philosophy Purity Made Simple – This has been a cult classic I’ve been meaning to try for years. Now that I have, I get it. It lathers beautifully and rinses really clean. There is a light fresh scent that makes the experience almost relaxing.
Real Techniques brush cleansing gel
Reverie Milk Anti-Frizz Leave-In Nourishing Treatment – I had not used this in a while, so I wanted to see if I still loved it as much as I used to. Yes, I do. It still reduces frizz, leaves my hair soft, and helps detangle. This is a true gem.
Skinesque Brightening Charcoal Black Mask – I enjoyed all three steps of this mask. Step one is a nice cleanser, and there is a really generous amount in it. There is a jelly-like serum in step 2 that provided instant hydration. The mask in step three was really wet, so it also provided lasting moisture. It also smelled like charcoal, so I was not surprised when my skin looked bright and clean when I removed it.
Tan Towel Self Tan Towelette for Face and Body
touch in SOL Moisturizing Ceramide My Daily Story Sheet Mask – This was a really wet mask that left my skin with a lot of moisture.
TULA Dual-phase Skin Reviving Treatment Pad – This is a chemical and physical exfoliator in one, and I like both sides. Neither were too rough for my skin. When it was over, my skin looked and felt smoother. It also looked brighter.
Up & Up Dental Whitening Treatment
