The 2019 Sephora Birthday Gifts are out, and they’ve caused quite a stir. Sephora birthday gifts for 2019 have up to four options depending on your Beauty Insider Rewards level. These Sephora birthday gifts come from Drunk Elephant, Kat Von D, Jo Malone, and Milk Makeup. A lot of retailers other than Sephora offer birthday gifts, so check my list before your big day. There are two Sephora birthday gift 2019 options any Beauty Insider member can redeem.
The online only option(s) for this year is for Rouge and VIB members only. It started as a Milk Makeup Gift but switched to Jo Malone in Quarter Two. Sephora is also starting the year with the option for Rouge and VIB members to get 250-points in place of a gift. That option was not added until August of 2018. A lot of retailers offer birthday gifts, so check my list before your big day. I reviewed the Bumble and bumble, Bite Beauty, and Glamglow birthday gifts from 2018. See my 2019 Sephora Birthday Gift review for Drunk Elephant, Kat Von D, Milk Makeup, and Jo Malone.
I have one timeline where I list all major: Promotions, Sales, Deals, GWP, Promo Codes, and Events. Those who want to see an overall idea of what to expect this year should stop by. How do you get a birthday gift at Sephora? People with birthdays late in the year can sometimes get the gift for the new year (if they choose). You have four weeks to redeem your gift, which includes two weeks before your birthday and two weeks after. You will usually see a pop up banner online and get an email notifying you when your gift is available. Click through either link, and you will be fruitful. Those picking up the gift in-store can give their email address or rewards card to verify eligibility. Make sure anyone picking this up on your behalf knows your email address. Only one birthday gift is available per year so choose the one you like best.
If you do not receive a link, you can select the birthday gift from the Rewards Bazaar or the top right of your screen at checkout. Check out other available offers while you’re there. Contact customer service if you are within two weeks of your birthday and cannot redeem the offer. No purchase required to pick up a birthday gift in store, but there is a purchase required online. Those without flash or standard Rouge shipping are subject to a $5.95 shipping fee if spending less than $50.
What is the 2019 Birthday gift at Sephora? There are two options for Beauty Insider Members and four options for VIB and Rouge members.
For those who select their birthday present based on value, I’ve covered how much each is worth below.
- 0.007 oz Tattoo Liner ($7.37)
- 0.049 oz Lock-It Setting Powder ($3.87)
- 3 x 0.005 oz foils of Studded Kiss Crème Lipstick ($0)
At $11.24, this is not only the most controversial gift of 2019, but it is also the least valuable. In a year where Sephora is placing most of Kat Von D’s products into the sale section, I think making this only makeup birthday gift option for Beauty Insider members was a huge gamble. *I do not place value on foils (they should always be free) and use the smallest size sold to calculate price per ounce. That is the cheapest buy-in. Those who place value on foils or use the full-size setting powder to determine worth on the sample will get a different amount. This has less value than the hair samples from 2018, which I thought was already impressively low. Read my review on this Sephora Birthday Gift.
- 0.5 oz Protini™ Polypeptide Cream ($20.12)
- 1 oz Beste™ No.9 Jelly Cleanser ($6.80)
At $26.92, this is not only the most hyped of Sephora’s birthday gifts for 2019, but it is also the most valuable. I am still exploring this brand, so I cannot say whether it lives up to the hype yet. So far, I have not found anything I feel I need to spend this much on. Milk Makeup (VIB and Rouge Only) *Online only
This option was only available in the first quarter.
- 0.21 oz Cooling Water Under-Eye De-Puffer ($14)
- 0.1 oz Kush High Volume Mascara ($9.23)
At $23.23, this birthday gift is the second most valuable. Considering this is the VIB and Rouge gift, it is disappointing that it does not have the highest value. Then again, it does not really surprise me. Read my review on this Sephora Birthday Gift.
Jo Malone (VIB and Rouge Only) *Online only
This was not available for Quarter One. It could mean we might get a new gift each quarter, but the reason for the change is unknown.
0.3oz Jo Malone Peony & Blush Suede Cologne ($20.40)
At $20.40, this birthday gift is the second least valuable. Considering this is the VIB and Rouge gift, it is disappointing that it does not have the highest value. Then again, it does not really surprise me. Read my review on this Sephora Birthday Gift.
250 Sephora Birthday Bonus Points (VIB and Rouge Only)
If you are a VIB or Rouge member who is not interested in any of the other Sephora Birthday Gifts, you can add 250-points to your bank by redeeming this option.
What are your thoughts on the 2019 Sephora Birthday Gifts? Let me know below. Sephora does not inform any Beauty Insider of all promotions. It does list a great deal of them on its Beauty Offers page, but I list some it does not on my Sephora Deals Page. Between the ones it lists and the ones I list, you can catch most of them. Subscribe to emails to get targeted offers. If you’re spending over $25 online, there is always a promo code that you can apply. Most major events run on a set schedule, which is why I track them.
