If you have to buy it, get the best deal!
I track all Ulta Beauty offers, and this article is the master calendar for all 2019 Ulta Beauty Promotions, Sales, GWP, Deals, Coupons, and Events. Consider it a starting point for budget planning or an idea of what to expect and when. To keep this as concise as possible, this timeline serves more as a guide map. Whenever I write a separate article to delve into more detail on the event or promotion, I will link it below. If a separate article does not exist, I will list the pertinent information in this one. It will not include many minor promotions, except links to any I spotlight, like Hot Buys and sale items. Anything I find worth mentioning is below. Ulta has deals or some type of event taking place almost every day of the year. There is almost never a reason to make a full-price purchase without getting some type of benefit.
Many of these promotions repeat all-year long. All general events that repeat get repeated on the calendar below. Events with descriptors get arranged on the calendar in reverse chronological order based on their first appearance. Subsequent blanket offers only have a small title and date to keep the timeline accurate without adding too much text to the article. Some targeted offers are not repeated on the timeline, because they are different for everyone. The timeline on targeted offers will exist in the individual article. See Tips For Getting The Best Deal At Ulta for a deeper dive into UltaMate Rewards and how to maximize your deals.
The first 20% off prestige coupon should arrive soon, because this coupon is a staple at Ulta.
These are different from point multipliers. You spend the specified amount and get the promised bonus points with that purchase. We got 4 of these last year, not counting Brand or Product Specific Bonus Points. I expect the first offer to release in January of 2019.
These are different from Hot Buys. This is the article where I list every beauty deal worth mentioning that is separate from an event. The first beauty deal of 2019 came out on January 12th.
These are single gifts with any purchase sent to select accounts. Everyone receives different offers, and my son rarely gets any at all on his regular account. My first targeted offer came on January 11th. They do not come often anymore.
These are perks only Platinum and Diamond members get. Many major events get some Platinum Perks. Reward Perks almost always come out on the first Monday of each month (with rare exception). The first perk of 2019 came on January 6th, which was free shipping on any steal during the Love Your Skin Event. It came sooner for anyone with a birthday from January 1st through 5th.
-The Love Your Skin Event runs 01/06/19-01/26/19. Expect to find steals and deals on skincare with event long offers and the standard daily steal format from other major events.
These are GWP bags available to any Ulta Beauty customer with a specified purchase minimum. They are almost always listed in the GWP section. The bag that arrives on 3rd of January was an affiliate exclusive. Most of these offers get emailed, but there are times you can stumble on one in the GWP section you did not receive an email on. Checking the GWP section every time you place an order is a good idea.
The first affiliate offer of 2019 released on January 3rd. When Ulta emailed it on 12/28/18, I did not know it would be an affiliate exclusive, but it is not searchable on the website.
The first Beauty Break of 2019 came out on January 2nd. Beauty Breaks almost always release at 8am PST on Wednesday mornings, but I documented every one and every variation from the standard date. There were 61 in 2018. That means Ulta makes it up to us on the weeks when it skips the usual schedule.
The first UltaMate Rewards Perk came on January 1st. It was the first Fragrance Crush of the year.
The first coupons for a specified amount off select products arrived on January 1st. Most are targeted, but I will list some general ones with higher amounts. There are almost always general coupons that apply to drugstore purchases on the Ulta main page, so I do not usually list those anywhere. Since the unique offers vary by Rewards Member, I am not going to place them on this master list each time it pops up.
Everyone receives a $25 gift card for services. The gift(s) inside vary from multiple samples to a single full-size item. I will update the link above with my 2019 box (after I receive it). It is available as soon as the member qualifies starting on January 1st.
These are perks that only Diamond members get. Most of these perks comes out on the first Monday of each month, but no perks released on January 7th as expected. The welcome gift was available as early as January 1st though.
The 2019 gift changes each month. Every member gets a gift and 2x points during their birth months. Platinum and Diamond members also get a $10 coupon.
These are targeted offers, so they will vary for everyone. Like other targeted offers, they will not repeat on a certain schedule. The first offer releases before the year even started, but it carried over into the new year. Since the offers vary by Rewards Member, I am not going to place it on this master list each time it pops up.
These are almost always targeted offers, so yours will vary from mine. The first offer released before the year event started, but it carried over into the new year. Since the offers vary by Rewards Member, I am not going to place it on this master list each time it pops up.
This event runs from December 25th through January 26th and offers the lowest price on jumbo hair care plus some other deals centered around hair. *It carries over from 2018, so you will see a duplicate listing below.
If we saw a promotion in 2018 that does not repeat in 2019, I will list it here. Ulta has added (not removed) major promotions, so I expect a short list by the end of the year if it has any entires at all.
Because I did not create an article like this for 2018, I have listed all 2018 promotions below. Reviewing this calendar will help us predict when these events may pop up in 2019. It will also make it clear when we see a new event or a missing event when we compare the lists. Click the link on the event header to pull up the article on each promotion.
Having a good understanding of how to maximize earnings and spend points at the right time makes the program more valuable. In 2018, I dedicated an article going in-depth with explaining the program. This article is timeless, so I will edit it as I see changes.
This event runs from December 25th through January 26th and offers the lowest price on jumbo hair care plus some other deals centered around hair.
The first ever 3X Ultamate, 5X Platinum, and 7X Diamond Points on all products popped up on December 16th. It was valid one day only.
I’ve decided to track when the free shipping minimum dips from the standard $50. It happened many times in 2018, but I did not make note until after the December 9th offer. Diamond members have a $25 free shipping minimum.
This was the first year of the Platinum program, and Ulta chose to lump Diamond and Platinum members together for 5X points on the earlier offer. It separated them by tier for this offer giving Diamond members the added 1-point bonus. The offer is in-store only for 2018, but as it is new, anything can happen in 2019. Members started getting the general in-store coupon on December 6th. It is valid through December 24th. Those who did not get it on the 6th should have it by now (as long as they get their emails, that is), because I’ve received it 3 times. Since it is general, pull up the article and screenshot my coupon if you did not receive yours.
Another event I cannot recall from last year is the Merry Monday Sale. Again, I was not blogging, so I cannot say with certainty this was new in 2018. That is another reason I wanted to do this article. Next year, I will scroll down and see what is definitely repeating, what is missing, and what is new. This was a one-day event on Monday, December 3rd. It had a number of deals and discounts up to 50% off.
This is Ulta’s advent calendar event which takes us from December 1st through December 25th for 25 days of deals. It is a Christmas countdown. Deals get released one-week at a time, but each deal is only available on one select day.
These are offers for a bonus rewards card with an online eGift or gift card purchase. The amounts vary based on the purchase amount. This offer appeared on November 25th and repeated on December 12th.
For the first time in 2018, I decide to combine all the events Ulta hosts starting the week of Thanksgiving in one article. I enjoyed this formatting and will probably keep it for the future. There are a lot, so view the article for more deals.
This is an event that runs before Cyber Weekend. Ulta could have called it anything, but I am guessing it takes this name due to its proximity to the bigger Cyber Monday event.
This ran from November 4th through November 10th. It is an event I cannot recall from 2017, but I was not blogging. The formatting is similar to the Fall Haul, the Summer Sale, and the Spring Haul. My guess is Ulta decided to finally round-out the seasons.
Prior to October 22nd, every bonus points offer I had seen was with a specific minimum purchase. This was the first time I saw an offer for specified number of points with a $25 brand (NYX) purchase. Four days later, I received another offer for bonus points with the Urban Decay Naked Cherry Palette purchase. That was when I was sure Ulta is keeping this promotion for the long haul. These are targeted offers, so they will vary for everyone. Like other targeted offers, they will not repeat on a certain schedule. All members got offers like this on November 19th and November 21st during Member Appreciation.
The first ever Diamond Perk Beauty Bag released on October 2nd. It disappeared the same day and has yet to repeat. Until it repeats, I cannot start predicting patterns. I have no clue when this will appear again.
From September 30th through October 20th, we got the second and final Gorgeous Hair Event for 2018.
This event took place from September 23rd through September 29th. It is another event that got bigger in 2018.
This promotion made its first appearance on September 9th, which is right on par with the 2017 event. It repeated on December 26th.
From September 2nd through September 22nd, we got the second and final 21 Days of Beauty Event for 2018.
This is the big event that takes place every August, usually on the third Monday of the month, but it has taken place on the fourth Monday. It was the first year of the Diamond Program, so this was Platinum Appreciation Day in the past. On August 20th, all Diamond and Platinum members got 10X points on select products and 5X points on everything else.
This was a one-day only event on August 8th. Most deals got 30% off but some were up to 50% off.
I find most deals better online (other than the in-store clearance section), so I do not make it into the store often. Unless I happen to stumble upon something worth mentioning or get an Ulta notification, your experience on this will vary from mine. The first time anything worth sending to customers went out was on July 24th. This does not mean your store or even mine did not have anything worthwhile until then.
The first 5X Points on anything offer popped up on July 22nd. That was only available to Diamond and Platinum members. It repeated on 10X Points day. Any product not included in the large 10X points event on August 20th got 5X points. This did technically repeat on September 9th for Platinum and Diamond members, but it was in the 3X, 5X format. Diamond members also got 5X on December 6th with the 3X, 4X, 5X formatting.
Another event that grew this year was the Summer Sale. It ran from July 1st through 4th with more deals than usual.
The second (or first depending on how you look at it) Jumbo Love Event took place from July 1st through July 28th. It held the usual 4-week format.
From May 13th through June 2nd, we got the first Gorgeous Hair Event for 2018.
This event took place from April 8th through April 21st. It expanded from previous years.
From March 18th through April 7th, we got the first 21 Days of Beauty Event for 2018.
This was the first year of the Diamond Program, so it was also the first time we saw this specific promotion. It appeared on March 11th. We saw repeats on April 22nd, June 3rd, August 4th, September 30th, November 11th, and November 27th.
The Beauty Stars Event ran from March 1st through 5th.
The Beauty Stars Event repeated with new options from November 2nd through November 4th.
All members got 10x points on mascara and lashes for Member Appreciation on November 20th.
February 2018 saw the launch of Skinfatuation. The first monthly GWP for this event released on February 26th. Ulta and Dani mentioned this was a year-long event, but it has not released anything since October. I’ve checked Dani’s Youtube to see if she kept promoting this after Ulta stopped, and she has not posted any new videos either.
The first hot buys of the year popped up on February 16th. These release all year, including the latest round on December 12th. Whenever Hot Buys coincide with an event, I list them with the event instead.
The first coupons for a specified percentage off select products arrived on February 10th. All were targeted and unique, but general offers pop-up at times. There are almost always general coupons that apply to drugstore purchases on the Ulta main page, so I do not usually list those anywhere.
The first affiliate offer of 2018 released on February 11th. It opened to the public the next day. This was a slow year for affiliate exclusive offers, which made finding and stacking as many deals as possible easier for the consumer.
The first ever Diamond Perk released on February 5th. This is only because the program had a mid-January launch. Expect the first perk of 2019 to release the same day the Platinum Perks do.
The first bag of 2018 released on February 5th. We also got them on June 4th, September 21st, and November 9th.
We received five rounds of codes. The first official email went out on January 23rd. Others went out on April 12th, June 21st, October 14th, and December 4th. Click the link to see the rounds with multiple codes and some other honorable mentions.
It was available as soon as January 16th in 2018, so I wanted to list it at the earliest redemption date for 2018. Everyone receives a $25 gift card for services. The gift(s) inside vary from multiple samples to a single full-size item.
On the 16th of January, the program officially launched. Anyone who spent $1200 in 2018 joined the newest tier. For all you ballers who truly started off as Diamond by spending $1200 in the first 15 days of the year, I have mad props for your skill and budget.
These are single gifts with any purchase sent to select accounts. Everyone receives different offers, and my son rarely gets any at all on his regular account. My first targeted offer came on January 16th. These offers seriously slowed down from 2016 to 2017 then again in 2018. Even when I did receive some, most were unique codes.
The first sale item worth mentioning (to me) released on January 15th. I did not update that article as often as I should have in 2018, but I have a plan for 2019 to combine it with other retailers and update it more.
These are different from point multipliers. You spend the specified amount and get the promised bonus points with that purchase. We saw these on January 14th, July 6th, November 1st, and December 18th. The January 14th one arrived on my Platinum account but not my son’s UltaMate account. My Diamond account got the November 1st offer, but my son’s regular account did not. That makes up to 4 offers on Platinum accounts and up to 2 offers on UltaMate accounts.
The first major event that actually launches in 2018 is the Love Your Skin Event. This year, it ran from the 7th through the 27th. It is always a 21-day event that coincides with the Liter Sale (only in the Winter). In the summer, this event does not repeat with the Liter Sale. Expect to find steals and deals on skincare with event long offers and the standard daily steal format from other major events.
These are GWP bags available to any Ulta Beauty customer with a specified purchase minimum. They are almost always listed in the GWP section. The first one arrived on the 7th of January and the latest one arrived on 12/11/18. Most of these offers get emailed, but there are times you can stumble on one in the GWP section you did not receive an email on. Checking the GWP section every time you place an order is a good idea.
These are almost always targeted offers, so yours will vary from mine. My first offer came on January 5th. I received another one today, and I am sure more will arrive before this year is over.
The first Beauty Break of 2018 came out on January 3rd. Beauty Breaks almost always release at 8am PST on Wednesday mornings, but I documented every one and every variation from the standard date. Through the 12th, we’ve already seen 59 this year. That means Ulta makes it up to us on the weeks when it skips the usual schedule.
The first coupons for a specified amount off select products arrived on January 2nd. Most were targeted, I did list some general ones with higher amounts. There are almost always general coupons that apply to drugstore purchases on the Ulta main page, so I do not usually list those anywhere.
The first Platinum reward perks of 2018 started on Day one! Reward Perks almost always come out on the first Monday of each month (with rare exception). Since the first Monday in 2019 is on the 7th, we could get a later start this year. Of course, Ulta could start us off on a different day.
We saw Platinum Perks on 01/01/18, 02/03/18, 02/05/18, 03/05/18, 03/11/18, 04/02/18, 04/12/18, 04/22/18, 05/07/18, 06/03/18, 07/09/18, 07/22/18, 08/04/18, 08/06/18, 08/20/18, 08/24/18, 09/03/18, 09/21/18, 09/28/18, 10/02/18, 11/05/18, 11/09/18, and 12/05/18. Click the link to see what each offer was. There were also offers tied to specific events not listed above.
In 2018, the birthday gifts for every quarter got announced just before the new year started. This was the first time I’ve ever seen that (since 2014 when everyone received the Calvin Klein Mascara). It is too soon to say if we will see the same in 2019. Expect at least the first quarter gift to get announced by the end of this month. I reviewed the Quarter One gift.
The Jumbo Love Event started on December 25, 2017, but it carried over until January 27, 2018. That makes this the last official event of each year and the first official event of each year. It is also the only one that has consistently carried over from one year to the next.
This section is to go over any major promotion we saw in previous years but was noticeably absent in 2018. It could mean that the promotion permanently ended. There is also a chance it just took a break in 2018 and could return in 2019. By the time 2019 is over, anything on this list that does not repeat in 2019 is likely a dead promotion moving forward. When a promotion takes a two-year absence, it is less likely to get revamped.
Ulta used to allow online customers to select a sample pack at checkout. This was a 2-piece free sample set (usually foils unless you selected fragrance). I used to get the same samples whether I selected skincare or variety, so I mostly selected variety. Sometime in the middle of the year, the option to select skincare or fragrance disappeared. That left only the variety sample pack. Many orders I placed this year would come without samples even when I selected the variety sample pack. While I have received orders in the past with missing samples, I had not received as many in all my years shopping Ulta as I did in 2018. There were times later in the year where the option to select a variety pack disappeared, but it reappeared each time. It disappeared again before my 11/05/18 order, and I have not seen it reappear. Since it has disappeared and reappeared before, it is possible it will again. Though I never place value on foils, I love the opportunity to try new things and agree with those who feel the sample loss does slightly diminish the shopping experience. This will also give me fewer items for my Foil Challenges, but I am sure I will still collect enough to keep it going.
Ulta has a lot of promotions each year. What are your thoughts on this 2019 Calendar of Ulta Beauty Promotions? Let me know below. Targeted Offers are exclusive to UltaMate Rewards Members, so I do recommend joining. Whenever there is an exclusive or unique Ulta Beauty offer, I will note that above. An advanced breakdown on Earning and Redeeming Points can help you maximize the UltaMate Rewards Program. Coupons are almost always available. I go over all types of Ulta coupons and track 20% off prestige coupons. Remember to check my Ulta Deals page before placing an online order for possible exclusives and advice. There are always general and brand specific offers I do not list, so check the GWP section of the Ulta site as well. Ulta encourages deal stacking. Most major events run on a schedule, and I track each one. Read Tips For Getting the Best Deal at Ulta. See all Ulta articles.
