Sephora released the details on its Holiday Hooray Beauty Insider Event Rewards. These are promo codes for a select dollar off promo code based on reward tier. For many years, Sephora offered a gift card at the beginning of December for its rewards members. It was a gift card that required a $50 minimum purchase, but it was a real gift card nonetheless. You redeemed it the way you redeem any other gift card with Sephora. As long as you met the purchase minimum, the gift card would get applied. You could also use a promo code, so the only drawback was the gift card got applied after tax. That meant we paid tax on the $25, but we could redeem any promo code we wanted (and most promo codes are more valuable than the tax we pay on a $25 purchase). Each gift card was unique, and some members who chose not to use theirs gave them away to other people. Some people redeemed multiples and others redeemed none.
The Rouge program launched at Sephora on July 23, 2013. Prior to the launch, Beauty Insider members received a gift card for $15 off a $50 purchase and VIB members received a gift card for $20 off a $50 purchase. In 2013, VIB and Rouge members got lumped together to get the same $20 gift card. December of 2014 was the first year we saw the current amounts. Beauty Insider members got gift cards for $15 off a $50 purchase, VIB members got $20 off a $50 purchase, and Rouge members got $25 off a $50 purchase. It kept the same formatting for 2015 and 2016. I was on a blogging break in 2017, so I did not write an article to go over the first real change to the program since 2014. That is the year the gift card changed to a promo code.
In 2017, each member still got the same amount, but they were given a single use, general promo code to redeem instead. That promo code was 2017REWARD. Each member could redeem that code only once in-store or online. Because Sephora only allows a single promo code, you could no longer redeem a promo code for product the way you could when you redeemed your gift card. You did not have to pay tax on the amount of your gift card though, so you paid less out-of-pocket when the amount got deducted on the subtotal instead of the grand total. The program has changed once again for 2018.
The amounts received are the same for 2018, but the minimum spend has risen to $75. Over 2018, I watched kits raise in price while they lowered in value. I watched gifts with purchase that used to have a smaller buy-in go up from $25 to as much as $50 in some cases. Inflation is real, and it has hit Sephora the hardest this year. In other words, the change does not surprise me, but it is worth noting.
In addition to getting an extra $5 per tier, members of each tier also get an extra day over the tier below to redeem their promo codes as well. Rouge members get 14 days, VIB members get 13 days, and Beauty Insider members get 12 days. The event starts Thursday, November 29th and runs through Wednesday, December 12th.
An email arrived today alerting me of the event. It was interesting to see the November start as this has notoriously been an early December event, but Sephora likes to keep us on our toes. I also received my card in the mail today, so I am guessing yours is on the way if you have not received it already. Whether you receive the email and card or not, you can redeem this discount on your rewards account by knowing the following information.
Use code 2018HOORAY for your discount. This is the same code for everyone, and it will work as long as you are signed into your account. To redeem in person, have the Sephora rep pull up your account. Sephora claims this will only work once in-store or online. Some people have claimed they have redeemed once it in-store and once online during the redemption period, but I have only ever tried online redemption. In 2017, I can confirm that the code stopped working online once I redeemed it. This code will not work before or after the dates listed below, so it is a use it or lose it offer. You can read more about this on the Sephora Community Forum.

Don’t forget to look in the sale section. It exploded with a lot of great deals on 11/21/18. Many of them are still available.
What are your thoughts on the Sephora Holiday Hooray Beauty Insider Event Rewards. Sephora does not inform any Beauty Insider of all promotions. It does list a great deal of them on its Beauty Offers page, but I list some it does not on my Sephora Deals Page. Between the ones it lists and the ones I list, you can catch most of them. Subscribe to emails to get targeted offers. If you’re spending over $25 online, there is always a promo code that you can apply. Most major events run on a set schedule, which is why I track them.
