Target Facial Beauty Box September 2018 Review

Boxes usually release on the first Monday (or last Monday when the month has 5). This is the first in a long time where it released on another day.

Target releases monthly beauty boxes. These are not subscription boxes. They used to sell out on the same day they released, but that only happens with the super incredible boxes now. If you consider the box I am about to share incredible, grab it now. Shipping is always free, and the box contents announce as soon as the box goes on sale. Most items are sample sized, but there is almost always a full-size item or two inside. Value is usually at least triple the cost. The only variation in box content is on color items. Unless the color is specifically stated in the description, colors will vary. Boxes usually range in price from $5 to $10. The Target Facial Beauty Box September retails for $7. Another box also released today. As I am not purchasing that one, I will not cover it.

Everything comes inside a Target Beauty Box. This one is purple with a pink lid.

Items are loosely placed inside with nothing but orange tissue paper surrounding them. This can lead to damaged products, but that is not really an issue with sheet masks.

All Beauty Boxes contain a coupon for $3 off any $15 Beauty purchase. This applies to cosmetics, skincare, and haircare. The coupon is valid for about a month from the order date. By the time the box arrives, you usually only have about 3 weeks to redeem it. This coupon works online and in-store. It expires 09/29/18.

The theme of this box is Hello Quench & Glow! Every product inside fits the seem, but some fit it extremely well, like the wintering strips and the hair mask.

A product card comes in each box with a brief explanation on each item.

There are 5 items inside the Hello Quench & Glow box. That makes the cost of each item $1.40.

The 0.14oz foil of Lumene LAHDE Aerating Gel Mask is a single use sample. Technically, sheet masks are single use, but they sell that way. When I get a foil of something that sells in a larger size, I do not assign value to it. My reasoning for this is foil samples should always be free. Others may assign value to this. Despite not adding value, I always like trying new things. It is an airy water-gel formula that replenishes skin’s moisture to promote a healthy, glowing complexion. I love hydrating gel masks, so my expectations are high.

The 1.5oz TRESemme Keratin Smooth Deep Smoothing Mask Sachet retails for $1.99. I dislike that they sell these packets this way, because there is anywhere from 3-5 uses in a foil this large. Hair masks only get used once a week, so this would stay unsealed with unused product in it for about a month. This mask itself does interest me, because my hair needs a weekly treatment. It has keratin and marula oil to fight frizz, detangle knots, enhance shine, add softness, and tame flyaways.

The Acure Brilliantly Brightening Biocellulose Gel Mask retails for $5.99. This is a unique biocellulose fiber that evenly distributes the antioxidant powers of vitamin C, kale, and cucumber. It claims to refresh and smooth skin.

The Miss Spa Energize Facial Sheet Mask retails for $2.99. This is not available on the Target website, and it is out-of-stock on most other websites. It makes me wonder if Target once again placed a discontinued item in a box. I dislike the idea of that, because I use these boxes to find new products. I like the idea of energizing skin from sodium hyaluronate’s restorative abilities help boost skin’s moisture levels and protect against environmental stressors. If it is really hard to find, I hope I do not end up loving this.

The 0.41oz Masque Bar Rose Gold Peel Off Mask retails for $2.99. It is out-of-stock in the old 0.51oz packaging and has not yet popped up with this new packaging. This has natural fruit extracts that aid in purifying and soothing to brighten and soften skin. I love peel off masks as long as they do not try to take all of my peach fuzz with it. Hopefully, this one is gentle.

As with all drugstore products, price variation is huge depending on where you shop. For this box, I used Target prices on all items. This box has a $13.96 value. Someone who places value on sample foils may assign value to the Lumene product resulting in a higher box value. Target has not listed a value on some of these boxes lately. Considering this one only has twice the value of what I paid, that does not surprise me. The value is usually higher. My personal value is also $13.96, because I will try everything in this box. Every item in this box is new to me, and I really love trying new masks (of all types). I think this might be the lowest valued box I’ve seen so far, yet it is far from my least favorite. A box of masks I’ve never tried before is almost always going to ran high with me.

Remember to check all Target offers before placing an online order. You get free shipping when you order this, but the regular $35 shipping minimum applies if you add anything to the order. Look for extra items as quickly as possible. Boxes release almost every month and although the exact release dates vary, the first Monday of each month is the most common release. If you want to make sure you get the next box, subscribe to Target emails and look at them when they hit your inbox. Of course, I will always alert you on the front page when they come back in stock as well.

I was sad I missed the Honest box they had awhile back. I have been really wanting to try their skincare & makeup, but it is kind of pricey (for Target).

I missed that one as well. That and the Sonia Kashuk one went really fast, I think.
