The Diamond Rewards level officially launched at Ulta on January, 16, 2018. As someone who made a large purchase on January 1st thanks to the incredible Platinum Perks that day, I assure you that every purchase from January 1st going forward counted toward the spend requirement for this year. It just took the system a couple of weeks to get ready. Since this level did not exist in 2017, only those who qualified in 2018 have Diamond status. This means 2017 spend was not taken into account. Though I did see some who spent over $1200 last year mention they received Diamond status after complaining, I chose not to take that route. That means, I spent the first five months of this year in Platinum status. On 06/04/18, I crossed over to Diamond when I surpassed $1200 in spending this year. Ulta was out of welcome boxes, so I only received mine recently.

Now, that the program is in full swing, it will work like other tiers do. Those who qualify in 2018 will have status through 2019. In order to qualify for 2020, each Diamond member will need to qualify again in 2019. As long as you keep qualifying, your status will not lapse.

This level requires a minimum spend of $1200 from January 1st through December 31st. Diamond Members get everything Platinum Members get, but they also get some rewards of their own. After you qualify, you will receive an email with a unique code (for online redemption) and coupon (for in-store redemption) to redeem for the welcome gift. As with all unique codes from Ulta, it will only work once regardless of which method you choose to redeem it. I received an email on 06/14/18 welcoming me to the Diamond tier and apologizing that the welcome gift was out-of-stock. This leads me to believe it takes about 10 days from the qualifying purchase until you receive the unique code to redeem for the welcome box. Of course, I will update that next year if I notice it is faster when the gift is actually in stock.

Beauty goodies are a part of the welcome box. They are not in the advertised list of perks, but Ulta offers a lot of perks that are not advertised. My guess is they leave this open so they can constantly change out the items inside. The welcome gift changes throughout the year. That means what I received may differ from what you receive(d) and what other bloggers receive(d).

The email arrived on July 13th, so it took a full month. As I was not ready to place an order then, I did not order my kit until 07/19/18. Each welcome offer is good for 90 days from the receipt of the email. It is important to note the date, because there is a real possibility that the beauty goodie(s) vary based on order date. If you noticed that the first email said goodies and the second said goodie, you have a keen eye. My guess is it will be a goodie when the item is full-size or goodies when the items are deluxe sized.

I like that there is an option to get the gift in-store and online. Those who want to pick it up without a purchase can run into a store and those who don’t want to run into the store can make a purchase online. It is an added bonus that they can redeem this with only a $25 online purchase (now that they’re Diamond). Hopefully, the birthday gifts eventually get this option. As of 2018, those gifts are still in-store only.

There is a card inside the box, which pretty much goes over all the same information that gets emailed to you. Ulta wants to make sure everyone knows exactly what they are getting, so it never hurts to double up on the information.

I admit I like looking at this welcome picture, because I know there is no way she is holding a diamond. It makes me wonder what it is. My guess is plastic. That of course makes me laugh.

Every box comes with a $25 gift card for a beauty service. When it arrives, it is smooth and peeled to the top of the box. Of course, I could not wait until I took the photos to see what services applied to this coupon, so I removed it to see. Then, I stuck it back on for the photo. Other than the $25 free shipping minimum and extra 0.25x point multiplier, this is the only adverted perk of this level. It does not specify any exclusions, but it does have a $25.01 minimum. That means a $21 brow wax is out (unless they allow you to take $25 off your total if you redeem multiple services that are under $25). I would not rule that out until I see if it works or doesn’t.

As someone who has a great hair stylist and avoids facials to steer clear of testing more than one new product at a time, I may have a hard time redeeming this. If I cannot redeem it, I will come back and post a picture of the bar code for one of you. My coupon is valid through 12/31/19, which is when my Diamond status expires, assuming I do not renew in 2019.

The gift(s) come(s) in the cute pink box on top of white crinkle paper. This has a lot of cushion and nearly assures your gift(s) will arrive intact.

I received two deluxe gifts. The number and size of your gifts could vary. It is also possible you could get the exact ones I received. If you redeemed around the same time I did, I think the odds increase.

My gifts are a 0.25oz Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation Primer ($9), and a 0.06oz NARS Powermatte Lip Pigment in Starwoman ($8.67). That makes the value of this welcome gift $17.67. Of course those who redeem the coupon get $42.67 in value. My personal value is at least $8.67, because I am keeping the lip pigment. The Smashbox primer gives me a rash, and it is too early to see if I can find a service to redeem the $25 on.

The NARS Powermatte Lip Pigment in Starwoman, which is new to my collection, is a blue based red. On my warm-toned skinned, it almost looks berry. Don’t let it fool you, this is a dark, cool-toned red. This is not a traditional liquid lipstick, so it will transfer. It claims it is smudge resistant and compared to bullet lipstick it is. Once I wear this, I will edit in a picture and review.
