FabuFinds: Product Spotlight Spring 2018
After I review my Empty Products, I like to take a little extra time to go over the standouts. These FabuFinds are products I love so much they seem like they’re made for me. They are items I would repurchase, even without a deal. Items I am loving but cannot finish any time soon make it into Deal Discoveries. To eventually spotlight all of my FabuFinds, I will never repeat items already mentioned in a past article. That does not mean they lost their magic. It is also possible an item not spotlighted in a past Empties article may get promoted as I try it more and fall deeper in love. Over time, past FabuFinds may get demoted as I find things I love even more. There are 6 products I consider FabuFinds in my Spring 2018 Empties that I have not discussed yet.
I usually have dry hair, but when I use Wella Elements Renewing Shampoo it is hard to tell. This one is sulfate free, but it still has a nice lather. That results in very clean hair that does not feel stripped at all. Somehow, my hair does not tangle much as I wash it either, which results in less tangles and less frizz. There is a very subtle scent to this. My hair always smell clean but never overly perfumed. It leaves my hair very soft and smooth. Sometimes I would walk by a mirror expecting to see my normal level of frizz and get surprised that it looked so sleek. When this was gone and I used a different shampoo, my dry, frizzy hair returned. This definitely made my hair look and feel nicer than it really is and is worth the splurge. That said, Ulta puts this on sale often in its events. Wait for a sale. The Liter event starts soon, and I should have an article for that up tomorrow. The ad is already here.
I’ve tried a lot of eyeshadow primers from drugstore to high-end. If you name one of the popular ones, I have probably tried it. Of all the cream based primers, the Lorac Behind the Scenes Eye Primer is my favorite. It is very close to the color of my skin so it blends in nicely and leaves everything looking matte. Whether I set it with powder afterward or not, eyeshadows blend beautifully across the eyelid when this is its canvas. As I age and my eyes continue to get more hooded, primers that once worked to prevent creasing altogether only reduce it. This is one I still get very little creasing with. On days where I am really lucky, I get no creasing at all. Some of the other primers I once liked can no longer give me any crease free days.
If you’ve followed my blog for a while, you might think I had already named this Josie Maran Whipped Argan Oil Be Spirited Sweet Citrus a FabuFind. I already knew this was my all-time favorite body moisturizer, but I was searching for the right scent before officially declaring it a FabuFind. This is the scent I had waited for. The scent on this is beautifully sweet and wonderfully citrusy. Neither fragrance is overpowering as some body butters are. Some of you may remember how overwhelming the scent on the last one I finished was. When it comes to body butters, I generally think the thicker the better. That slippery feel that always leaves my skin a little tacky is what I want. I get that from this body butter even though it is not overly thick. The oil makes it very easy to spread so I can apply this in a flash. A little product also goes a really long way, which is a blessing given the price per ounce. My skin feels incredibly moisturized from the moment I put this on until the moment I wash it off. There is never a second where my skin feels dry so this moisturizer really lasts.
When it comes to hand creams, I think I am an expert. As someone with extremely dry hands who applies lotion after every single hand-washing, I have tried a lot. We all have different needs in our hand creams. I want an extremely rich one that does not fully absorb into my skin. The skinfix Ultra Rich Hand Cream is perfect for me. It is so deeply moisturizing and leaves my hands with a nice slip. There is nothing worse (to me) than a hand cream that completely disappears into my skin, because when I say my hands are dry, I mean it. They rarely even sweat like normal hands so there is almost no moisture in them at all. Creams that leave a slight tackiness to my skin are exactly what I want, and this one delivers.
Spider lashes are not my thing, but I do not want to take the extra time to comb through them to remove clumps. A mascara that provides great definition without any clumping is the number one thing I look for in mascara. Yes, this usually means I get less volume but that is a trade-off for smooth lashes. The Stila Huge Extreme Lash Mascara fits the bill. It reminds me of my favorite mascara, Lancome Definicils. This wand is actually better than Definicils at defining the top lashes, and the curve helps hold a curl in my lashes a little longer. Usually, my curl falls fast and my lashes go limp. That is the only thing the keeps Definicils from being perfect. Defincils is better for the bottom lashes, because this brush has a hard time reaching them horizontally. When I use a mascara brush vertically, it clumps more than I like. I have medium-length blonde lashes that look almost nonexistent without mascara. All I really want is something that makes them look a little longer and more defined so people can see them.
My skin can look a little pale so I do occasionally like to add a little color. Some self tanners cause breakouts on my skin, especially around my face. The Dr Dennis Gross Alpha Beta Glow Pad Self-Tanner for Face gives me the color I want without clogging my pores. It is just a subtle boost so it looks like a natural, healthy glow. It is golden-bronze, and not orange at all. My face looked darker for about a week. I think it feels like the regular peel pads, which I already love from this line. Of all the peel pads out there, these do not burn any open acne I have as bad as some others. As a picker, that is a major concern for me. The only caveat is if you use a regular peel pad after using this, it will start to strip the color faster. That means you either have to use these as long as you want the color or temporarily avoid regular peels. For those who always use these in place of regular peel pads, they would probably have a subtle color all year round.

I'm Kimberly. Shopping is always more fun when I've found the best deal available, so I am always on the hunt. My father instilled that in me, and I love that I carry a piece of him. Sometimes, my husband and sons (13 and 8) let me shop for them, too. They do not use as many beauty products as I do. We can all benefit from nice products, even though their routine ends with moisturizer. That is when I can convince my 13-year-old to apply it.
