Target Beauty Box Mother’s Day Review

Target releases seasonal beauty boxes. A new box released today. Some of the past releases, which I’ve already reviewed are still available. I only mention and review the boxes I purchase. These are not subscription boxes so I pass on the ones that do not interest me. They used to sell out the day they release but most last longer lately. A Sonia Kashuk box released today as well, but it sold out before I even logged into the site. It must have been popular on the east coast and with the early risers. It is one I definitely would have purchased if there was stock left. Shipping is always free, and you will know what is in each box before you make the purchase decision. Most items are sample sized, but there is almost always a full-size item or two inside. Value is usually at least triple the cost. The only variation in box content is on color items. Unless the color is specifically stated in the description, colors will vary. Boxes usually range in price from $5 to $10. Most boxes are $7. The Target Beauty Box Mother’s Day for $7.

Everything comes inside a white box Target Beauty Box.

Items are loosely placed inside with nothing but pink tissue paper surrounding them. This can lead to destroyed products.

All Beauty Boxes contain a coupon for $3 off any $15 Beauty purchase. This applies to cosmetics, skincare, and haircare. The coupon is valid for about a month from the order date. By the time the box arrives, you usually only have about 3 weeks to redeem it. This coupon works online and in-store. It expires 06/03/18.

The theme of this box is Indulgence. Other than the body spray, none of the products seem very indulgent. Despite the misnamed box, I wanted all the products.

A product card comes in each box with a brief explanation on each item.

There are 7 items inside the Indulgence box. That makes the cost of each item $1.

The 1.75oz OGX Coconut Miracle Oil Dry Shampoo is worth $2.45. Target mistakenly labeled this as 1.5oz. It is infused with coconut oil, essence of tiare, and vanilla bean extract to absorb oil and revive strands. I have yet to find a dry shampoo that fits all 5 of my desires so I love trying new ones. This one is new to me.

The Conair Scunci Spiral Twisters are worth $1.50. I have not tried this specific brand, but I have tried the much more expensive version of these from invisibobble. Those are $8 for three so I look forward to seeing how these compare. What I like about the others is they are mostly dent free as promised and they never seem to cause knots in my hair as some hair ties do. They are not comfortable when pressed against something, like a pillow or chair. Thus, I cannot wear them when sleeping or driving.

The full-sized 1.59oz St. Ives Cactus Water & Hibiscus Cleansing Stick retails for $7.89. Target lists this as 1.6oz, which is close. I love when there are full-sized products in this box. It is even better when it covers the cost of the box by itself. While I only have experience with one other cleansing stick, it was a very nice experience. Hopefully, this compares to that. This uses 100% natural coconut oil to hydrate and soften skin as it cleanses. That seems awesome.

The 1.69oz Soap & Glory The Scrub Of Your Life Body Buffer Travel Size is worth $2.77. This is a scrub I already know and love so seeing a deluxe sample of it in this box made the purchase decision a little easier. Everything from this brand has an amazing scent. It is a love it or hate it type of scent, because my ex hated it. My skin always feels soft and smooth when I use this. I love that it scrubs without feeling overly abrasive.

The 0.5oz La Roche Posay Lipikar AP+ is worth $0.74. I am always reluctant to use these face and body type products on my face. My pores clog easily so I am always weary of things that work on my body for my face. So, I am unsure if I will try this both ways but I will try it at least on my body. It is a lightweight moisturizer that replenishes essential lipids. Finding a lightweight moisturizer that does not make my skin feel tight is always a challenge. Getting a nice one for summer when thick moisturizers are too heavy makes it worth the effort.

The 1oz Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Lotion SPF55 is worth $2.66. This is another product I already know and love. Getting more sunscreen that I know works beautifully is always a good thing. It contains Helioplex® and dry-touch technology, which offers superior broad spectrum sun protection and a fast-absorbing, lightweight feel. My skin never looks or feels greasy when I wear this. I also never burn as long as I remember to reapply at the appropriate time.

The 2oz Free & Lovely Lavender & Amber Body Mist is worth $1.25. This smells nice, although it is more subtle than I expected. It does not have a strong alcohol scent as most mists do. Like most mists, it is not super long-lasting. At $0.625 an ounce, one could easily afford to keep reapplying though. Lavender always makes me think of sleep so it is not a scent I would normally wear in the day time. I use lavender sprays from This Works and Earth Therapeutics to spray pillows before bed. If this works that way, it will be a steal compared to the price and amount given on the others.

As with all drugstore products, price variation is huge depending on where you shop. For this box, I used Target prices on all items. This box has a $19.26 value. My personal value is also $19.26, because I will try everything in this box. While this is not the highest valued box ever, I am happy with it. I always like when a box is mixed with things I already know I love and things I have not tried yet. Trying new things while still knowing I will love some things is really the best of both worlds and eliminates some risk. Getting a box where there is nothing I already hate or nothing I am unwilling to even try always increases the chances of it being a perfect box (where I love all the items inside).

Remember to check all Target offers before placing an online order, but these boxes always sell out fast. You get free shipping when you order this, but the regular $35 shipping minimum applies if you add anything to the order. Look for extra items as quickly as possible. Boxes release almost every month and although the exact release dates vary, the first Monday of each month is the most common release. The second most common is the last Monday of the month. If you want to make sure you get the next box, subscribe to Target emails and look at them when they hit your inbox. Of course, I will always alert you on the front page when they come back in stock as well.

I'm Kimberly. Shopping is always more fun when I've found the best deal available, so I am always on the hunt. My father instilled that in me, and I love that I carry a piece of him. Sometimes, my husband and sons (13 and 8) let me shop for them, too. They do not use as many beauty products as I do. We can all benefit from nice products, even though their routine ends with moisturizer. That is when I can convince my 13-year-old to apply it.
