I’ve played around with the Bite Beauty birthday gift I received from Sephora, so I am ready to offer its review. As I mention on my Birthday Beauty Deals page (which you should visit if you have a birthday coming), Sephora has a choice from three options for the 2018 Birthday Gift. Any Beauty Insider (join if you have not already) with a birthdate on file can redeem a birthday gift at Sephora. Prior purchases are not required, and there is no purchase required to pick up a gift in-store. Online redemption requires a purchase, and it is subject to whatever free shipping minimum you have. Paying for shipping is never a good idea when a free shipping offer with a minimum purchase is available, but it also defeats the purpose of a free gift if you pay to have it shipped to you. VIB Rouge customers and anyone who purchased Flash have no free shipping minimum. There has not been a Rouge bonus since 2014. Everyone gets the same choices.
If you are a VIB or Rouge member who does not want any of these options, you can select 250 bonus rewards points as your Sephora birthday present (effective 08/09/18).
I decided to go into the store to pick up my gift, which excluded me from the Bumble and bumble gift set that is online only. It includes a 1oz Bumble and bumble Hairdresser’s Invisible Oil Shampoo ($6), and a 1oz Conditioner ($6.50). This is also the least valuable of the gifts at $12.50.
I decided not to get the GlamGlow gift, because I already own both of the products in it. My son can also redeem this for me on his birthday using his account. It includes: a 0.5oz Glamglow Supermud ($24), and a 0.5oz Glowstarter Mega Illuminating Moisturizer in Nude Glow ($14.41). This is the most valuable gift at $38.41.
I selected the Bite gift, because I already love Bite lip products. The two deluxe items inside are products I do not already own. This is a gift I can keep for myself.
The 4-piece Bite Beauty gift includes: a 0.031oz Matte Creme Lip Crayon in Glace ($14.88), a 0.05oz Amuse Bouche Lipstick in Chai ($8.67), a 0.018oz foil of Agave Lip Balm ($0), and a 0.018oz foil of Agave Sugar Lip Scrub ($0). This gift has a $23.55 value.
I do not place value on foils, but I love to receive them whenever possible. The products in the foils are actually items I purchased in a deluxe set around the holiday. So far, I have not tried either of them. Getting them in foils is perfect, because I can gift the deluxe sizes I purchased if I do not like the products.
I will recycle this box, but I admit the lips on the top are adorable.
Even though the two bonus items are foils, this is the only gift set with four items. The others only have two.
The colors on the deluxe samples are similar. Glace (left) is a dusty mauve. Chai (right) is a mauve brown.
While Chai is warmer than Glace, I wish they would have varied a little more. For people who love mauves, this is a perfect gift.
The Bite Beauty Matte Creme Lip Crayon in Glace is the prettier of the two colors. It is a cooler shade and it paired nicely with cool-toned makeup. When I use these pencils, I use them to line and fill in my lips. That makes them easier to apply on the go or when in a hurry. This formula is not as comfortable and moisturizing as the Amuse Bouche formula, but it also lasts a little big longer than the that. My lip lines and dry patches were not accentuated with this.
The Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche Lipstick in Chai is a little more warm. I’m actually drawn to some brown shades, but this particular one is not my favorite. When I use a really moisturizing formula like this one, I usually line my lips. My lip lines and dry patches were not accentuated with this. Like most bullet lipsticks that are incredibly moisturizing, this does not last a long time. It does fade somewhat nicely and feels great while fading.
What are your thoughts on the Sephora Bite Beauty Birthday Gift? Let me know below. Sephora does not inform any Beauty Insider of all promotions. It does list a great deal of them on its Beauty Offers page, but I list some it does not on my Sephora Deals Page. Between the ones it lists and the ones I list, you can catch most of them. Subscribe to emails to get targeted offers. If you’re spending over $25 online, there is always a promo code that you can apply. Most major events run on a set schedule, which is why I track them. I'm Kimberly. Shopping is always more fun when I've found the best deal available, so I am always on the hunt. My father instilled that in me, and I love that I carry a piece of him. Sometimes, my husband and sons (12 and 7) let me shop for them, too. They do not use as many beauty products as I do. We can all benefit from nice products, even though their routine ends with moisturizer. That is when I can convince my 12-year-old to apply it.
