Ulta Bonus Point Offers 2018

See 2019 Bonus Point Offers, and all 2019 Ulta Beauty Promotions, Deals, Coupons, GWP, Sales, and Events.

This article covers all blanket bonus point offers for 2018. I have a separate article for brand or product specific bonus points. As soon as I see them, I will update this article with new offers. It could be a large post by the end of the year depending on how generous Ulta is with bonus point offers. These bonus point offers are separate from point multipliers, which I also track. My goal with tracking offers is to better predict trends, as many retailers including Ulta repeat offers around the same time each year. This means I can look at the 2017 offers to get an idea of when 2018 offers may arrive.

By having them all listed in one place, it is also easier to see a pattern (if there is one) and helps predict when the next 2018 offer is coming. Ulta Bonus Points is a promotion that assigns a flat number of points with a specified purchase. These are targeted offers, so some accounts will not receive them at all. If you do not receive an email on this promotion, remember to check My Bonus Offers inside My Rewards. It is a good idea to check there anytime you see someone receive an offer you did not. There is always a chance your email had trouble coming through. For those who receive these bonus offer promotions, the amounts will always vary.

Some people get less bonus points, but they have a smaller buy-in. Others may get more bonus points, but they have a higher buy-in. Occasionally, there are people who get less bonus points for the same buy-in, but this is less common. The general rule is people get different offers based on account history. People who spend more throughout the year usually get the higher buy-ins with better bonus offers, but these offers are not an exact science. It is a sign that there is something wrong with your account if you consistently miss targeted offers others seem to get, so contact Ulta if it happens too often. There is no reason someone with an active account should miss multiple (more than 3) targeted offers in a row.

There were four total general offers this year (not counting brand or product specific offers) for Platinum offers. That is the most I’ve ever seen. UltaMate members received up to 2.

Offer 4- My offer (Diamond account) and my son’s offer (UltaMate account) are both for 350 bonus points with a $50 purchase. The offer is valid 12/18/18 only, and the 20% off prestige coupon overlaps this event.

Offer 3- My offer (Diamond account) is for 350 bonus points with a $50 purchase. The offer is valid from 11/01/18 through 11/04/18, and the 20% off prestige coupon overlaps this event. *My son did not get an offer on his UltaMate account.

Offer 2- My offer (Diamond account) is for 250 bonus points with a $60 purchase. Other than my January 2018 offer, this is what I usually get. The offer is valid from 07/06/18 through 07/14/18. The Liter Sale overlaps this event. Read details on that sale.

My son’s offer (UltaMate account) is for 100 bonus points with a $30 purchase. This is the first time he has received a bonus points offer. His account was created after the October 2017 offers and before the January 2018 offers, but he did not receive an offer in January 2018.

Offer 1- My offer (Platinum account) is for 350 bonus points with a $80 purchase according to my email. It initially said 350 bonus points for a $90 purchase when I activated it, but it updated hours later. I usually get almost as many points for a smaller buy-in. My last three offers for 250 or 300 points for a $60 purchase. The offer is valid from 01/14/18 through 01/20/18. Considering I am making a huge purchase on the 21st from the Love Your Skin Event, I will miss this offer. Too bad it did not extend one more day.

Points get awarded a few hours after the order ships. This bonus point offer does combine with any multipliers you already have. I go over how to calculate multipliers in my Earning and Redeeming article. There are no base points built into this offer so just add the total to whatever you earn with your multipliers or standard points.

I did not save all of my 2017 Ulta emails and did not complete my 2017 article due to a long blogging break. The bonus points offers I am sure about ran from 01/01/17-01/07/17 and from 10/26/17-11/04/17. Those may have been the only two, but we will see if we get more in 2018.

What are your thoughts on these bonus points? Let me know below. Targeted Offers are exclusive to UltaMate Rewards Members, so I do recommend joining. Whenever there is an exclusive or unique Ulta Beauty offer, I will note that above. An advanced breakdown on Earning and Redeeming Points can help you maximize the UltaMate Rewards Program. Coupons are almost always available. I go over all types of Ulta coupons and track 20% off prestige coupons. Remember to check my Ulta Deals page before placing an online order for possible exclusives and advice. There are always general and brand specific offers I do not list, so check the GWP section of the Ulta site as well. Ulta encourages deal stacking. Most major events run on a schedule, and I track each one. Read Tips For Getting the Best Deal at Ulta. See all Ulta articles. I'm Kimberly. Shopping is always more fun when I've found the best deal available, so I am always on the hunt. My father instilled that in me, and I love that I carry a piece of him. Sometimes, my husband and sons (12 and 7) let me shop for them, too. They do not use as many beauty products as I do. We can all benefit from nice products, even though their routine ends with moisturizer. That is when I can convince my 12-year-old to apply it.

  1. Hi I love your content. I had a quick question. Are these extra points for card holders? I am a platinum member but not a card holder and I have never received any of these extra points with a minimum purchase amount. Also I think some of the 5x the points are for certain members because earlier this year I wasn’t offered anything off of urban decay and I saw that on a previous post.

  2. No, I do not have a credit card. I received this offer and have received this offer in the past many times. This is definitely a targeted offer as are most 5x points offers, which I discuss in this article. I received the Urban Decay offer but I mention in the article when I see an offer I did not receive. It concerns me that you’ve never received one of these offers. While it is targeted, you should not get excluded every time. Check the My Rewards section of the account to make sure you did not receive it.

  3. No I have gotten a few but never the buy in one. Let’s say I split my purchase will I receive the extra 350 in points twice?

  4. Yes, if you have a bonus points offer you will get the bonus points for every qualifying purchase you make during the promotional period. The order has to go over the minimum though. If you go under the minimum in two orders but they add up to over the minimum during the promotional period, you will not get bonus points on either order. I have made multiple qualifying purchases in the bonus period before and got points on all of them, just as you would on other offers. I have also made multiple orders during 5x and 10x points events and got those as well. Just make sure you activate it before you shop and the points will be added after your order ships. I hope you get included in the next bonus point offer.

  5. I second Ash’s comment. I’m Platinum as well, have been an Ultamate Rewards member for over a decade, and can’t recall receiving bonus offers like this (ex. 250 points for $60 purchase). There are almost always point multipliers available in my account, but I rarely use them since they’re usually brand-specific. I’d be much more likely to take advantage of the X-points for X-dollars offer. I called Ulta about this today, and they said the offer wasn’t “available in my area.” Upon further questioning, the rep said the offers are random. I hope you continue to post any of these you see/receive – I’m definitely curious how often they come up. Thank you for all the great content on your blog.

  6. Most offers are targeted so the rep was right about that. It is unusual to get excluded from the same promotion time and time again. The rep generally would not know why you were excluded if you asked and those are offers the reps cannot usually do much about. I believe you and Ash that you were excluded, because you should have received an email if you were included in this offer or past ones. There are times when the offer comes before the email. I got a 5x points offer in my account on the 1st that I did not get an email about until the 5th, which I discuss in the 5x points article.

If the offer is not in your account and you did not get an email, you were not included in that promotion. I have heard about certain promotions getting excluded from areas based on local laws. It is possible where you and Ash live the law excludes the promotion. Another possibility is reps say it is not available in your area when they are not sure what else to say. I can say I have only seen this specific offer in January and October. If it pops up at other times, I have been excluded.

  7. Question- do these bonus point offers work in store too or just online?

  8. All point multipliers and bonus points work in-store and online. As long as you make a qualifying purchase, you should notice the bonus points within a couple of hours of leaving the store. Online purchases usually credit within a couple of hours of shipping. If it takes days to ship (which happens sometimes), it will take days to get your points. Getting the points almost right away is a benefit of shopping in-store.

  9. I recently became aware that I wasn’t getting all of the bonus points with the bonus point offers. When I emailed Ulta customer service I received an email back saying that the bonus offers for not able to be combined. The reason this came up was because they had a 10 multiplier on purchases of beauty star items as well as a 500 bonus points with orders over $100. I didn’t receive all of them and when I emailed customer service they said you can’t do both at the same time because they work like coupons. Is this true in your experience? It seems odd that they don’t put the wording anywhere, just give you the option to activate the offer.

  10. Unless the rule just changed, I think you were misinformed. Ulta employees do not always give proper information unfortunately. Ulta picks when it runs its promotions. If it did not want multipliers and bonus points to combine, it could just offer them at different times. If you want to pose a specific scenario, I can advise you on what I think. That said, I cannot make Ulta honor missed points. I would however call and speak with someone if the person via email told you no.
