Limited Edition Boxes are my favorite items to purchase from Birchbox. These are a mixture of full and sample sized items that usually fit a specific box theme. All boxes have a value far greater than the cost so they are a great deal when the items you want to keep exceed the value of what you’re paying. Better boxes sell out quickly, but the ones that linger will occasionally pop up in the sale section for 30% off. Aces sometimes get 40% off on sale items. Predicting which ones will sell out is not always easy so I buy the ones I really want close to the release date. If you’re on the fence because of price, wait it out.
The Limited Edition: Millennial Time Capsule released on 01/04/18 for Aces and 01/05/18 for everyone else. Aces usually get early access, but I have never seen an item sell-out in early access. I ordered my box on the 4th, and it arrived yesterday.
Every box comes with a product card. It goes over the items inside the box and lets people we gift the box to know if we took anything. Yes, this has stopped me from taking things out of boxes I’ve gifted others in the past. Of course, you could give the items without the card or just take what you want anyway.
The other side is the theme of the box. This theme is Good Vibes Only.
This box retails for $42.
There are 8 items inside, and all of them are full-size.
The GLAMGLOW® BUBBLESHEET™ Oxygenating Deep Cleanse Mask retails for $9. This oxygenating mask purifies pores and bubbles upon application. It is something I’ve wanted to try since it released.
The full-size 0.084oz Touch In Sol Metallist Liquid Foil Lipstick Duo in Maria retails for $25. This is something I’ve wanted to try but the price turned me off. It is two products in one so it is really only $12.50 per product.
From swatches alone, I am already impressed. The liquid foil lipstick is beautiful and dried down completely. My guess is it will not transfer too much if at all. I did not notice a lot of stickiness from the gloss and think the glitter looks nice.
Once I wear this, I will edit in a review and pictures.
The full-size 0.13oz Milk Makeup Liquid Strobe in Ultra Violet retails for $24. I love the Pantone Color of the Year so I really wanted this highlighter. My excitement has slightly faded. It is difficult to apply. After clicking for a really long time, the product started dispensing. There was not enough for a full swatch so I clicked some more. The pen got stuck so I can no longer click it. No more product is dispensing either.
From the swatch, I do notice the Ultra Violet reflect. That is beautiful. What is not beautiful is how much glitter this product has. Granted, I am not a millennial, but I doubt most of them want this much glitter on their face for everyday wear. I will save this for a night out. If I can get this to work again, I will edit in a picture of myself wearing this.
The full-size 2oz VERB Ghost Oil™ retails for $16. It is a lightweight hair oil. I have frizzy hair so I need oil. My hair is also fine so I do not like products that weigh it down. If this works as it should, I will probably love it.
The full-size 0.16oz Smith & Cult The Shining Lip Lacquer in Now Kith retails for $22. I feel like Birchbox includes this brand in too many limited edition boxes so this is the item I am least excited about. That said, I am still trying it.
The rosy nude shade is beautiful. It felt so sticky in the swatch though.
I will edit a picture and review once I wear this.
The Emoji Heart Eyes Pop Socket is not sold at Birchbox. The Amazon price seemed high and I cannot find this exact one listed on the Pop Socket site. Others on that site retail for $10-$15. Based on the box value Birchbox quotes, I am guessing this retails for $10. As someone who drops her phone often, I’ve considered getting one of these. From what I’ve seen, the knob gives a secure grip. I might get a new phone soon so I will wait to pop this on until after I decide. My concern was always would it fit on my cell phone case. If I get a new phone, I can always buy a case to work with this.
The Pink Selfie Light retails for $6.85 at Walmart. This works really well for the price. A micro USB cord comes with it so you can use your phone’s power brick to charge. It comes ready to go and starts working with a simple click. There are 3 lighting options. All of which illuminate the picture nicely without getting in the way of the photo.
The Locust Series Wireless Selfie Stick retails for $10.99 on Amazon. It is adjustable with a decent arm reach. There is a pop-out you can remove for larger phones (if necessary). A micro USB cord comes with it so you can use your phone’s power brick to charge. There were no instructions, and I was unable to get it to work. After contacting Birchbox for the instructions, I was told many people have reported the product was defective. I was given a choice of a $6.30 refund or 100 points ($10 to spend in the shop). Of course, I took the points, because I shop at Birchbox often. It is too bad this does not work, becasue I was strangely looking forward to it.
When I look at all the swatches together, I see Birchbox was going for a bold look with the colors selected. I also see possibilities to make some looks more natural.
Whenever you spend over $35, you can add a free 2-piece sample pack to your cart. This combines with any promo code, because you add it directly to your cart. Discount promo codes are on my Birchbox page, but you can always view the Bonus Shop for GWP promo offers. Promo codes cannot be combined. Choose the one you like best. For this order, I used 10FOR2018 to get $10 off a $50 purchase. The $10 for the sample pack gets deducted after the subtotal so the price of the sample pack gets factored into the purchase requirement for a promo code.
The items I received in my sample pack were a 0.07oz Bumble and bumble Hairdresser’s Oil ($0.82) and a 1oz Beauty Protector Beauty Cream Body Lotion ($2.29). That adds $3.11 in value to my order. It has been a long time since I received over $10 in value on these samples so I never recommend paying for them. You can order a mystery sample pack with a less than $35 purchase if you pay $10. I like the oil but I need more time with it to see if I love it. Though I’ve received the lotion before, I have not tried it yet.
The box retails for $42 and has a value of $123.84. My personal value is also $123.84, because I will keep everything. Birchbox estimates this box to have a $123 value, which is correct. Given that I got $10 off my box, used some points, and got $3.11 in free samples, I think this was a great deal. It is the first box I ever remember having all full-size items. Unless someone hates most of the items in this box, it would be hard not to get the value paid in use. Even if I can never get the highlighter to work again, I will still be happy with this purchase. It will also be worth it to know that the packaging on that product is faulty, and I will avoid it in the future.

I'm Kimberly. Shopping is always more fun when I've found the best deal available, so I am always on the hunt. My father instilled that in me, and I love that I carry a piece of him. Sometimes, my husband and sons (12 and 7) let me shop for them, too. They do not use as many beauty products as I do. We can all benefit from nice products, even though their routine ends with moisturizer. That is when I can convince my 12-year-old to apply it.
