The Holiday Sample Bags for customer appreciation launched on November 1st last year, so people got nervous when the Mystery Sample Bag launched on November 1st this year. That promotion is usually tied to Cyber Weekend. Sephora chose to flip the promotions for 2016, so the Sample Bag launched November 26th. Why the change? I’m guessing Sephora decided to release the Sample Bags after the VIB sale for 2016, so the people who usually choose between the sample bag and the discount will have an easier decision this year. It is also completely possible they got behind schedule in procuring and marketing the items for the bags. This switch up definitely threw me off, because I decided to pass on the mystery bag. I did pick up a Sample Bag though if you want to see a review on Bag #2 and the options in all four bags.
Another change is the bag has a $35 minimum purchase. This has always been a $25 minimum purchase in the past, but other bags that were once $25, like the VIB Appreciation Bag (which releases in August most years but was September this year), went up to $35 this year. It is safe to say the days of sample bags with a $25 purchase are gone. I cannot see that purchase minimum returning since it is three times removed now. VIB and Rouge members can use the code VIBTRYME for a bag. All Beauty Insiders can use the code TRYME for a bag. Yes, this means VIB and Rouge clients can use each code once for a second bag (if they are feeling lucky). Bags will include a full-size Sephora Collection Sleeping Mask and six mystery samples. As with all mystery bags, some are better than others. Expect to see some that are decent with very few foils and others that are mediocre and foil heavy. Some people got as few as one deluxe sample last year where others got as many as four.
Sephora does not inform a single Beauty Insider of all deal details. Certain offers are targeted and others have different purchase minimums based on the code. Remember to check New Offers and/or Recycled Offers before placing an online order. If you’re spending over $25, you can add a promo code to any order (though the deluxe promos have a $35 minimum). Product reviews do not always make it into the haul article, but you can always type the product into the search bar to see if I’ve mentioned it or reviewed it elsewhere. See all Sephora articles.
