The Fall 21 Days of Beauty is in full swing. Read my overview for tips on the sale. Ulta offered a 24 piece Beauty Bag as a Platinum Perk with a $125 purchase. This is not a common offer during a major promotion, like the Days of Beauty. These monster bags are more common when Ulta actually needs to push us into an order. There is no expiration date listed on this offer, so it is available while supplies last. I had a few (dreaded full price) items I’ve been waiting to purchase. Since I wanted to get this bag, I decided to get them with some steals I was going to get anyway. It also helps that I redeemed 2000 points for a $125 credit, so I did not pay full price on anything.
I definitely wanted to order a couple of today’s steals, but I was pleasantly surprised that yesterday’s steals were still getting discounted. Ulta is cutting people on the west coast some slack, because I’ve arrived before midnight in my time zone to find offers disappeared plenty of times. The steals for yesterday still up at 11:50pm PST when I placed this order. That is almost two hours after they should have shut down, because Ulta is on Central time. It is always possible new GWP offers or Beauty Breaks will release in the morning, but waiting for them is always a risk. These Urban Decay blushes (especially in the less wild shades) should sell out early.
The steal from the 16th that was still working when it was still the 16th here on the west coat but almost 2 hours into the 17th in the middle of the country was the 0.15oz Pur Cosmetics HydraGel Lift. It was still $13. This is something I considered purchasing when I saw the original catalog. I am glad I was able to get it after the cutoff. A hydrating eye primer seems amazing, but I really like that this works under and over.
I actually swatched this, but it did not impart any color whatsoever. It was also somewhat matte, so it blends into my skin completely. There was an instant cooling effect on the back of my hand, which has thicker skin. This cools even more under my eyes. My eyes did not look much different the first time I used it, but I will continue to use it and see if I notice anything. Under eye creasing was about the same with or without this product, but I have not tried it on the eyelid yet. That is not really what I bought it for, but I will try it that way at least once to twice.
The full-size 0.23oz Urban Decay Afterglow 8 Hour Powder Blush is available today for $13 (50% off). I selected BitterSweet (bright purple) and Crush (medium pink). It is neat that you can see the color of the blush through the UD screen.
That screen is where the mirror is on most blushes, so these lack mirrors. I am okay with the lack of mirror, although I generally prefer one.
As much as I love purple, I never would have purchased that blush at full price. Some of the swatches I’ve seen look scary, but I do not own anything else like it.
This purple was a lot more subtle than I expected, but the color builds. The flush of color almost mimics what skin looks like when it’s cold, so it was strange that I liked it so much. It did not last anywhere near 8 hours, but it did last around 3. That is not too bad, because most powder blushes fade faster than that.
This pink is also a little brighter than the pinks I usually select, so getting it at 50% off was the boost I needed to expand my color selection. I was able to blend this into an extremely wearable color. It did not last anywhere near 8 hours, but it did last around 3. That is not too bad, because most powder blushes fade faster than that.
Ulta Beauty Smoothies, Butters, and Scrubs are $7 each. I love these products, but I really wanted to get another Luxe Smooth Exfoliating Body Scrub. Sea Mist + White Flower is a scent I have not tried yet, so I selected that one. These scrubs exfoliate beautifully when I apply them to damp or dry skin. They are never too rough. When I add water to them, they cleanse as well. It is a time saver when I want to exfoliate, but I do not want to cleanse before exfoliating. This does both at the same time.
I’d gone back and forth on whether to purchase the Anastasia Beverly Hills Glow Kit Sun Dipped. It is $40. This was not my first choice when I saw the other palettes, but this is the only one at Ulta. I do not have rewards dollars anywhere else, so it is time I get my feet wet with a glow palette.
There is no mirror in this palette either, but the pans The shades on the left will be difficult to use as highlighters, so I may use them as bronzer and/or blush.
The shades in this one are: Bronzed (amber with penny metal finish), Tourmaline (warm taupe with a rose gold finish), Moonstone (radiant quartz with a pearl finish), and Summer (luminous sand with a white gold finish). Of course, I will add pictures and reviews once I try this.
Bronzed is a little more orange than I’d prefer. This will never work as a highlighter on my skin tone, so I will try this as a bronzer if I use a light hand to limit how orange it appears.
I used bareMinerals Bareskin Sheer Sun Bare Glow on my skin after applying foundation and before applying Bronzed. The overall glow is extremely beautiful, but very shiny. This look also uses zero contour, so it is 100% bronze. That is not a look I go for often, but I will reach for this powder when I want a shimmery, glowing bronze. It is a lot nicer than I thought it would be.
Summer is close to my skin tone.
This was a lot more noticeable than I thought it would be, so I had to blend this out for a more natural look. I actually like this a lot more than I initially thought I would. There is shimmer, so this is not the highlight I’d suggest for a natural look.
I really want to love Tourmaline, because this is such a beautiful shade. Every swatch I’ve seen makes me fall deeper in love. The shade will never work as a highlighter on my skin tone, so I will try this as a blush or eyeshadow, possibly even a bronzer.
As expected, this shade is way too dark for my skin. Even with a delicate fan brush, this looked like I was applying bronzer instead of highlighter. I was able to blend it out using a face brush. It ended up looking okay, but it took a lot of work. This is a beautiful shade, so I think this is an excellent color for people with deeper skin tones. The shade fades faster on my skin than others, but I did buff this out a lot more than I do with other shades.
Moonstone is a stunning shade that looks dreamy on my skin tone.
As expected, Moonstone is my favorite. This makes my skin look like it is glowing. I prefer a natural glow, so I blend it out after applying. It still pops with a lot of blending. It does not last very long (as most powders do not) on my face. Reapplying something this beautiful is totally worth the effort though.
The Best of Becca Youthful Glow Kit is where my luck finally changed with Best of Becca kits.
This is my fourth Best of Becca kit, and I am pretty sure there are only four. It is the most expensive at $49. The Best of Becca Collection, Best of Becca Radiant Glow, and Best of Becca Blushed Radiance all arrived with a broken piece. That’s right! I was 0 for 3 with these sets before this one officially made me 1 for 4.
They are usually placed in silver tissue inside a box too big for the items. These items were also placed in silver tissue, but for the first time, Becca placed everything inside a bubble mailer. It kept everything in tact, which is great considering 2 of the 4 items come in glass containers.
This item has a powder, but it is a blush. Every time a powder broke in the first 3 sets, it was always a highlighter. I was still nervous, so I am glad Becca bubble wraps this set. If you’ve been burned by one of these sets before, this just could be the set to improve your track record.
The set includes:
-1oz full-size Backlight Priming Filter
-0.16oz Under Eye Brightening Corrector
-0.09oz Luminous Blush in Snapdragon
-0.68oz Shimmering Skin Perfector Liquid in Opal
Opal is on the left, the corrector is second from the left, the primer is second from the right, and the blush is on the right.
The primer makes my skin look luminous. That is not an easy feat for my dry skin, so this is a great primer. It does not help product stay on my face as long, so I would recommend something a little more cohesive in hotter weather.
The dark circles under my eyes are usually against applying a brightener. I usually reserve those for areas I want to highlight, not areas I want to hide. That made the Under Eye Brightening Corrector the item I least looked forward to (other than Opal since I already owned it). Becca claims this brightener is the first of its kind, so I gave it a try. This is a very thick cream, which does settle into creases. Unlike most under eye brighteners, this did not overly accentuate dark circles. It is a product I’d consider using if I periodically check my creases to smudge it back out. On days where I have bad circles, I doubt this will work, but I will report back if I discover it does not.
This is now the third kit with a liquid Opal. With five shades in this series, they could have included a different color. It is insanely beautiful, as all Becca highlighters are, but I may not keep this. I prefer the smaller ones with the doe foot applicators, but this sample would make it easier to add this to foundation.
Snapdragon is a beautiful coral pink with shimmer.
Ulta reversed the sizes in the description for the Under Eye Brightening Corrector and the Shimmering Skin Perfector Liquid in Opal. It made it look like the Under Eye Brightening Corrector was full-size, but the sample is still very generous at 80% of the size.
The Platinum Perk is a 24 piece Beauty Bag with a $125 purchase. There are 24 deluxe beauty products, 2 foils, a coupon for $5 off a $10 Ulta branded purchase, and everything comes inside a large, cute, vinyl, leopard print bag.
This bag is a lot bigger than it looks as shown by it overshadowing the package and palette I ordered here, which are large themselves.

Buxom Dolly is the shade on the left. I love this formula and shade and will add a picture and new review once I wear it again.
I am actually impressed with this bareMinerals product. It definitely gives a bronze look and is not too orange to use as a contour for days where you do not want a separate bronzer and contour. This leaves my skin looking dewy when I use it without adding powder contour or bronzer on top. In summer, I really love the dewy look, so I will break this out in warmer months. My only complaint is it does disturb the foundation underneath.
On my nose, you can see where it moved the foundation, but it did not pick it up as much on my cheeks, which are much more dry. If I can find a way to apply this without disturbing my foundation, I’d consider buying it. Applying it before foundation may actually help, because this is a serum bronzer.
I like the Benefit Roller Lash, because it does hold a curl in my straight lashes longer than most mascaras. It is my favorite mascara from Benefit, because it does not transfer to my face. This does get clumpy a little faster than I’d like and does not define the lashes as much as I’d like it to. Unless I love a mascara, I usually do not keep duplicates. There are just too many in my collection I still want to try, so I will probably not keep this.
My bag also had a tarte Brazialliance skin rejuvenating maracuja self tanning face towelette and single use samples of Urban Decay Naked Skin Concealer in light, medium light, and dark. The Ulta eyeshadow primer and The Body shop primer are missing from the picture above, because they rolled into the floor before the picture. I received them though.
There is also a general GWP available with any purchase for a 1oz Living Proof Timeless Pre-Shampoo Treatment through 09/24/16.
I selected the variety sampler, and laughed when the samples arrived. Ulta had to send my usual 0.005oz Benefit Porefessional sample. At least, I received a 0.05oz paco rabanne Olympia Eau de Parfum. Although I really do like the Porefessional, it would be nice to actually receive other samples for a change.
