The Sale Section at Sephora blew up last week and keeps releasing loads of new goodies. Sephora is having an End of Summer Sale to make room for fall. New items from tarte, Urban Decay, Philosophy, Make Up For Ever, First Aid Beauty, Supergoop!, Ren, St. Tropez, Buxom, Lavanilla, bareMinerals, Josie Maran, Ole Henriksen, Sephora Collection, Stila, Formula X, Boscia, Ciate London, Korres, Algenist, Nest, Peter Thomas Roth, Butter London, Karuna, Julep, Jinsoon, and more are available. Although it is always a good idea to check the Sale Section as seasons change over, it is actually a good idea to check everyday over the next few weeks. I am seeing new items almost every day since I first reported about the sale on the 22nd.
This is actually an order I placed on the 17th, before the Sale Section blew up. Before this order, I had never tried the Josie Maran Whipped Argan Oil Body Butter. The $35 price tag makes this item a whopping $4.38 per ounce. That is a lot more than I usually spend on my body, and $35 is a huge investment for a product I’ve never tried. While they do sell 2oz versions for $12, which is a much cheaper buy-in, they are $6 an ounce at that size. So many people rave about this body butter, and I have extremely dry skin. It is something I always wanted to try. Both the Apple Crisp and ginger set have been in the sale section for a while for $22. At that price, it is $2.75 per ounce, which is a lot more reasonable to try a new product. Ginger is not a scent I am fond of, so I selected Apple Crisp.
Why is this Apple Crisp scent on sale? If Josie Maran is discontinuing it, I think it is making a mistake. This scent smells incredible. It is reminiscent of apples, but in a clean, fresh way. I adore the scent and may purchase more of this lasts in the sale section until Beauty Insider Appreciation Week, which starts 09/10/16. Rouge members should get 4x points during the event and other possible goodies, which I will list as soon as Sephora makes the official announcement. The product is incredible. My skin feels soft and moisturized all day long. It is not difficult to work in at all, because the body butter is not overly thick. Even though it is not overly thick, it is one of the most luxurious body butters I’ve ever tried. In other words, it is totally worth $4.38 an ounce, and I am glad it went on sale long enough for me to figure that out.
If you’ve never tried this or already know and love it, there is also a trio of 2oz Josie Maran Whimsical Wonder Whipped Argan Oil Body Butters in Vanilla Apricot, Vanilla Bean, and Sweet Citrus on sale. I purchased that as well, but it will take me a while to open them since this 8oz one is already opened. A little goes a long way, so I think it will last me a long time. That set has a cheaper buy-in at $17.50 and gives the chance to try three different products. The price per ounce is only $2.92, which is not bad considering it lets you try three products.
My husband, who has an issue with blackheads on his nose, is finally getting into masking. I cannot tell you how excited I am about this. It is about time he takes care of his skin, and it benefits my skin as well. Instead of masking once a week, I’ve been masking twice a week with him. My skin is looking better, so I will probably keep masking twice a week even if he decides to stop. We are alternating types of mask, so my skin is not experiencing mask overkill. After researching pore strips and discovering they are safer than I originally thought, I decided to order him one. We used to do the Biore Pore strips before everyone started saying they were bad for you, and we stopped.
This Sephora Collection Nose Strip in Charcoal Purifying & Scrubbing worked extremely well on him. It was actually kind of perfect, because he kept claiming he did not notice a difference in his skin (even though his skin is looking better) after every single mask I applied on him. With this pore strip (and others), you can see the blackheads it pulls out right in the trip. There is no denying it removed them when they are staring at you inside the strip as you remove it. I only purchased one, because I wanted to see if it worked before I purchased more. Now that I know it works, I will definitely get more. As great as this was, it did not remove everything, so it will probably take a few more treatments to completely clear his skin. Pores never stay clear, so I could buy these again if his pores clog up in the future and masks alone do not clear them out. Masks keep me relatively clear, so it is completely possible he will only need these to clear old stuff.
I love trying new foundations, so I used the code HDFOREVER for a deluxe MAKE UP FOR EVER Ultra HD Invisible Cover Foundation in Y225 Marble, which was free with this $25 purchase. When it comes to foundations, I do not open them until I am ready to use them to prevent the countdown toward expiration from starting. It will take me a while to open this. There are other shades available.
Have you ever seen a Sephora order without samples? I sure haven’t. There are times when packers only send one or two, but I’ve never received an order without any. The packing list changed the samples I ordered (which are listed in my account) and only listed them as general samples. The packer only checked off the items I purchased, so no attempt was made to pack samples. Like the people who only send one or two samples (likely when the missing ones are out of stock), the packer was probably unable to guess the three I ordered and decided not to send any. This has happened with other retailers, including Ulta and Beauty.com, so I can forgive Sephora.
It stinks though, because there was actually a deluxe sample in the Sample Section. That does not happen often. The deluxe sample I should have received was a 0.05oz Dior Diorshow Maximizer 3D Triple volume plumping lash primer. Although I prefer Lancome CILS Lash primer, I’ve used the Dior before and think it is nice. Receiving it would have been awesome. In the past (pre-blog, so there is no article), I’ve ordered that from Sephora when it was the promo code. My other samples would have been a 0.1oz Reverie Milk Anti-Frizz Leave-In Nourishing Treatment and a 0.1oz The Estée Edit by Estée Lauder Pore Vanishing Stick. Those are both items I have never received and really want to try, so Sephora really picked a lousy time to leave my samples out. On the bright side, I placed an order five days later. This deluxe sample was surprisingly still in stock, and it actually arrived.
Sephora does not inform a single Beauty Insider of all deal details. Certain offers are targeted and others have different purchase minimums based on the code. Remember to check New Offers and/or Recycled Offers before placing an online order. If you’re spending over $25, you can add a promo code to any order. See all Sephora articles.
