I know today is a big shopping day at Ulta (10x Points Day), but Sephora has offers of its own. The sale section exploded overnight with a lot of gems that will not last long. This is all part of the End of Summer Sale to make room for all the fall offerings. There are new items from Ciate, Julep, tarte, Stila, Korres, Sephora Collection, philosophy, Benefit, Ole Henriksen, Kat Von D, Nudestix, First Aid Beauty, Formula X, Butter London, Supergroup, L’Artisan Parfumeur, Nest, Buxom, Boscia, Josie Maran, Urban Decay and more. New items are releasing every day, so it is a good idea to keep checking.
For VIB and Rouge customers, Sephora also released a new promo code. The code VIBICON is for an Hourglass set that includes: a 0.14oz Veil Mineral Primer, a 0.15oz Film Noir Full Spectrum Mascara, and a 0.03oz Femme Rouge Velvet Crème Lipstick in Icon with a $35 purchase. This is a repeat from a similar code last year, but I never picked that set up. Although I selected this promo code for my love of this primer, I do not own this lipstick (other than in liquid form).
Hourglass is one of the higher end brands at Sephora and some customers even consider it a high-end brand.
The packaging certainly has that high-end feel. Birchbox used to package items in these little pouches, but they never looked this fancy. This is shiny.
Every item in the set comes in the same shiny packaging. This is the standard packing when you order an Hourglass item, but I’ve received samples from the brand that were not packaged this nicely. They went all out for this VIB promo code.
The packaging of the actual items is not too shabby either. That primer is made of glass, which is common in higher end samples.
I own this lipstick in liquid form, but I prefer traditional lipstick. My lips are dry. Once I wear this, I will add pictures and a review. It is a blue based red than leans a little pink.
Sephora gives three free samples with every order. There is a deluxe sample in the sample section. An order I have not shared yet (will share in the next few days) arrived without samples, so I decided to try once again to get the 0.05oz Dior Diorshow Maximizer 3D Triple volume plumping lash primer. This time, I actually received samples, and they were the ones I ordered. The other samples I ordered were a 0.07oz boscia Tsubaki Oil-Infused Exfoliating Powder and a 0.04oz Atelier Cologne Vanille Insensée Cologne Absolue Pure Perfume. Samples can always be substituted (or not arrive at all), but I am glad that mine were not for this order.
This is a primer I’ve used in the past. Although I do not like it as much as I like Lancome CILS, it is a good product. Getting a deluxe sample in the sample section is always nice, no matter what it is. If it is something I am not interested in, I can always gift it. I will probably keep this pretty sample.
I’ve heard so many great things about Josie Maran Whipped Argan Body Butters. My skin is really dry, so I finally decided to order one (in the order I will share in the next few days). It is the 8oz Apple Crisp one on sale for $22. This is one of the best body butters I’ve ever used, and it smells incredible.
If the sale scent is that incredible, I really want to try other scents. The 2oz sizes of these body butters usually retail for $12 each. Getting three in a set for $17.50 is an incredible deal. I ordered the Josie Maran Whimsical Wonder Whipped Argan Oil Body Butter Trio, so I will get to they the formula in Vanilla Apricot, Vanilla Bean, and Sweet Citrus.
Those all seem like amazing scents to me, so I am sure I will like them. Once I’ve tried these, I will have experience with four scents and will know which I prefer to splurge on. At $35 for 8oz of body butter, this is a splurge.
I was wandering through Sephora with a friend, and she asked if I had swatched the Ciaté London Olivia Palermo x Ciaté London Smokey Suedes Eye Palette yet. At that point, I had not. She suggested I do, and she was right.
This swatched beautifully. There were two palettes in this collection, and the other one was a lot less impressive. After almost ordering it that day, I decided to put it in my Loves List for the VIB sale this November. It is on sale for 50% off, so I doubt it will last until the VIB sale If you have your eyes on this palette, get it now.
The packaging is very beautiful, which does not survive me at all. I’ve seen Olivia on The City. That was a spinoff from The Hills, which I did not watch long. It lacked the appeal of the original. On the episodes I saw, this girl was all about the luxe life. She put those touches into this palette. This is more beautiful than your average $39 palette. Ciate invested in packaging instead of a brush that most people never use anyway.
There is a clear plastic insert that says, “Seriously Soft-Touch Suede Eyeshadow in my personal favorite shades for beautifully smokey eyes.” These are extremely soft shadows that definitely gave the suede feel. The only shade that lacks a suede feeling is also the only shade that feels powdery. It is the shade in the center.
This palette has 9 shades. There are 5 0.052oz shades in: Shaken (pearl gold shimmer), Glazed (pearl bronze/red shimmer), Butler (matte bone), Prosecco (pearl ivory shimmer), and Plumberry (matte aubergine). The smaller 4 are 0.042oz shades in: Verde (pearl bright olive), Whoopie Pie (matte deep brown), Cocoa (pearl bronze shimmer), and Macchiato (matte mid-pink brown).
These shades are swatched in order from top left to bottom right. They are: Shaken, Verde, Macchiato, Glazed, Butler, Prosecco, Cocoa, Whoopie Pie, and Plumberry.
I did get some creasing with this look, but it was a really hot day. Blending went well, but Cocoa was a little patchy on application (it was not patchy in the swatch).
For this look, I used Prosecco on my brow bone and inner corner, Shaken on my lid, Macchiato as a transition shade, Plumbery in the crease, Whoopie Pie on the outer V and lightly in the outer crease, and Cocoa with Macchiato on the lower lash line.
I will add pictures and an official review once I try it to see if it lives up to the swatches. This is the third new palette (two in the Ulta 10x points event) I ordered today, so it may take me a while to get to it. Hopefully, I can get the review up before it sells out, but I doubt this palette will last long in the sale section.

I'm Kimberly. Shopping is always more fun when I've found the best deal available, so I am always on the hunt. My father instilled that in me, and I love that I carry a piece of him. Sometimes, my husband and sons (13 and 8) let me shop for them, too. They do not use as many beauty products as I do. We can all benefit from nice products, even though their routine ends with moisturizer. That is when I can convince my 13-year-old to apply it.
