Completing My Disney Reigning Beauty Mirror Collection and Why I Prefer Shopping Sephora Online

Almost a year after the release, I’ve finally completed my Disney Reining Beauty Mirror Collection. I started with Belle and Snow White the day they launched, 09/15/15. On 10/07/15, I purchased Cinderella. The Elsa and Anna mirror has been available online almost non-stop since the release. Aurora and Ariel proved elusive. My thoughts were I had the three I wanted most, so I would not get any more unless I was able to get them all. We went to Disneyland last weekend (where I purchased another special Disney compact I will share with you in a separate article within the next week). Of course, I visited the Sephora at Downtown Disney, because Disney is my favorite place and Sephora is a close second. That store just seems a little more magical than other Sephora stores, even though it is far from the best I’ve been to.

Sephora Downtown Disney Anaheim

I expected to find Disney items that were difficult to find in other places, because this store tends to keep Disney releases in stock longer than other stores. My Sephora X Ariel collection nail polish in August 2014 came from this store long after it was out-of-stock everywhere else. Sephora finally launched a store at Disney springs in Orlando three months ago, so there is a good chance they will have special Disney merchandise as well. We have not been to DisneyWorld since it launched and have no trips planned there, so it will take me a while to see it.

The store actually has two Disney sections, but I could not find either one on my own. Thankfully, an employee helped me find both. Most of the items from the Minnie collection are in the first section. This section is not impressive, because it only has three of the items from this line. There are still six items available online, including the Sephora Collection Disney Minnie Beauty Reflection of Minnie Compact Mirror, which I highly recommend. That is also one of the three items in store. If your Sephora has the Minnie collection displayed and you have not already looked at it, make sure you do. It is definitely Core Collection for me.

The second section has the princess mirrors. They only have four of the six, but there are only three of the six online. Sadly, Belle is not available in store or online, so she is unattainable without going through a reseller. I will rather go without than purchase from a reseller, because I like deals. Resellers typically gouge. There is a chance Belle will re-stock online, because Ariel and Cinderella were unavailable online and both popped back up recently. As I mentioned above the Elsa and Anna mirror is almost always available online. Aurora (Sleeping Beauty) and Snow White are only available in this store. If you need either of those mirrors, the store will sell it to you over the phone and ship it to you. In case any out-of stock mirrors come back online, the links in this paragraph will pull up the original product page.

Disney Aurora Mirror

Although I was happy to see Aurora in this section, I was not going to purchase her. Without Ariel, my collection would have still been incomplete. I decided to log into Sephora.com to see if any mirrors restocked there. That is when I noticed Ariel was in stock again, and Elsa and Anna was still in stock. It was time to complete my collection. I purchased Aurora in store. My fellow deal seekers probably know why I did not purchase Elsa and Anna in store even though it was right there in front of me. The store usually does not give you any incentive to purchase from them. For $32 plus tax, I received the compact and nothing else. Unless I  have to buy something in store, I prefer to get a deal when I shop. My deal (from Sephora) comes in the form of the promo code and the free pre-packaged samples. Yes, I know Sephora will make me samples from their testers and a lot of other deal saving tips, but I prefer not to take those.

Disney Aurora Mirror 2

This Sleeping Beauty mirror is a Sephora Collection and Disney Collection collaboration. Anything Sephora makes tends to have beautiful packaging and the items are snuggly placed inside their packaging. Aurora fits beautifully inside the thick foam.

Disney Aurora Mirror 3

The detailing on this mirror is beautiful. It is a very heavy compact, so this is not cheaply made. I love all the special touched and the curved glass just above her silhouette. When the light hits the compact, it sparkles. Every princess has design touches that are special to her. Pink is fitting for Sleeping Beauty, and I love that they captured her with the birds.

Disney Aurora Mirror 4

There is an inscription on the back of all compacts. This is probably my favorite. It reads, “a girl needs her beauty rest.”

Disney Aurora Mirror 5

There is a mirror in the top and bottom. This lays out completely flat, so the hinge is flexible.

I decided to split up the orders for the two compacts online. By splitting them, I was able to get a promo code and three samples with each mirror. That is the main benefit of ordering online, so I never place one large order for multiple products unless I am using a discount code. It is too bad Sephora does not allow multiple promo codes, because I hate all the added waste to ship products. If they allowed that, I would forgo the extra samples for the added promo code. When I spend more, I want more rewards. Splitting orders is the only way to do that. Sephora has frozen accounts for too many small orders placed close together, so I never recommend doing this more than 2 or 3 times a day and never too close to other orders where you did the same thing. In other words, I split these, but I would not place 2 orders in one day for a while after this.

Two of the three samples I placed with this order arrived. I actually ordered the YSL lip sampler with three orders and only received it on one. It got substituted here, and the other order (which will post soon) did not receive any samples at all. Sephora packers will usually substitute samples when the one you ordered is out-of-stock, but they sometimes just send the ones in stock leaving you with 0, 1, or 2 instead of 3. That is probably not why my next order did not receive samples, but I will go over my thoughts with that article. The samples I received with this order were: single use Urban Decay Naked Skin Color Correcting Fluid in Peach, Lavender, Green, Pink, and Yellow, a 0.04oz Atelier Cologne Pomélo Paradis Cologne Absolue Pure Perfume, and a Stila Aqua Glow Serum Foundation with single use bubbles in fair light, light medium, and tan.

Disney Ariel Mirror

I used promo code SCOUTED for an 8 piece sampler. This is usually a promo code I would avoid, because it only includes foils and not even 12. Sephora usually does 12 foils when they make a foil promo code. The promo code includes brands that do not get a lot of promo codes or samples though. These brands are newer, but they get a lot of rave reviews. This sampler includes: a 0.07oz Sunday Riley Tidal Brightening Enzyme Water Cream, five Sunday Riley Luna Sleeping Night Oil capsules, a single use Tata Harper Resurfacing Mask, a single use Tata Harper Regenerating Cleanser, a single use Tatcha Pure One Step Camelia Cleansing Oil, a single use Tatcha Polished Classic Rice Enzyme Powder Classic, a 0.05oz Drunk Elephant C-Firma Day Serum, and a 0.05oz Drunk Elephant B-Hydra Intensive Hydration Gel. Six of these eight samples are new to me, so I cannot wait to try them.

Disney Ariel Mirror 2

The Little Mermaid (tied with the Lion King) is my favorite Disney cartoon. Disney has made a lot of great cartoons recently, but I still connect more to the ones that came out when I was still a kid. While Ariel is not my favorite princess (that is a tie between Belle and Tiana), I am happy to finally get her mirror.

Disney Ariel Mirror 3

This mirror is also $32 and absolutely worth the price.

Disney Ariel Mirror 4

This Ariel mirror is a Sephora Collection and Disney Collection collaboration. Anything Sephora makes tends to have beautiful packaging and the items are snuggly placed inside their packaging. Ariel fits beautifully inside the thick foam.

Disney Ariel Mirror 5

The detailing on this mirror is beautiful. It is a very heavy compact, so this is not cheaply made. I love all the special touches and the curved glass just above her silhouette. When the light hits the compact, it sparkles. Every princess has design touches that are special to her. Turquoise is fitting for Ariel, and I love that they captured her daydreaming.

Disney Ariel Mirror 6

There is an inscription on the back of all compacts. I get why they selected this, but I feel this misses the mark. Ariel never went with the flow. She always swam upstream. It reads, “go with the flow.”

Disney Ariel Mirror 7

There is a mirror in the top and bottom. This lays out completely flat, so the hinge is flexible.

Disney Ariel Mirror 8

The final mirror came with a hyped promo code that I will put to the test.

All three of the samples I ordered with this actually arrived. It is always nice to get the samples I order, because they are usually items I really want to try or items I already know and love. The samples I ordered and received were: a Yves Saint Laurent Rouge Volupte Shine sampler in 0.02oz bubbles of N41 Corail A Porter, N45 Rouge Tuxedo, and N49 Rose Saint Germain, a 0.03oz Hourglass Ambient Light Correcting Primer in Mood Light, and another single use Urban Decay Naked Skin Color Correcting Fluid in Peach, Lavender, Green, Pink, and Yellow.

Disney Elsa and Anna Mirror

I love the YSL Rouge Volupte formula and am always happy to sample new shades.

Disney Elsa and Anna Mirror 2

I used the promo code ALLNIGHT for a 0.1oz Urban Decay All Nighter Waterproof Longwear Liquid Foundation. It would have been cute to see the sample with a similar bottle to the full-size, but it is just a normal plastic foundation sample. Summer time in Vegas gets really hot, so I will see if this really lasts all night. A waterproof foundation seems perfect for summer.

Disney Elsa and Anna Mirror 3

I love Frozen, but it disappointed me that Elsa and Anna have to share a mirror. All of the other princesses get their own mirror. On the one hand, I get that they were stronger together, and that is the message, but Elsa is a Queen. If Disney wants to include her in its princess collection, at least give her a solo billing. That said, I am still happy to have this mirror. My collection would be incomplete without it.

Disney Elsa and Anna Mirror 4

This mirror is also $32 and absolutely worth the price.

Disney Elsa and Anna Mirror 5

This Elsa and Anna mirror is a Sephora Collection and Disney Collection collaboration. Anything Sephora makes tends to have beautiful packaging and the items are snuggly placed inside their packaging. The Elsa and Anna mirror fits beautifully inside the thick foam.

Disney Elsa and Anna Mirror 6

The detailing on this mirror is beautiful. It is a very heavy compact, so this is not cheaply made. I love all the special touches and the curved glass in the center of their silhouettes. When the light hits the compact, it sparkles. Every princess has design touches that are special to her. This purplish-blue is fitting for Frozen, and I love that they captured Elsa in the midst of magic.

Disney Elsa and Anna Mirror 7

There is an inscription on the back of all compacts. This is extremely fitting for Elsa and Anna, because it summarizes the entire movie. It reads, “strong bond, strong heart.”

Disney Elsa and Anna Mirror 8

There is a mirror in the top and bottom. This lays out completely flat, so the hinge is flexible.
