Bzz Agent L'Oreal Root Cover Up

My latest campaign was to sample L’Oreal Root Cover Up. I started getting stray gray hairs about two years ago and completely stopped coloring my hair over a year and a half ago. This means my grays are prominent, even though they somewhat blend into my blonde hair.

Boxes usually include a product card to go over some important details of the campaign.

This one did not, but I watched enough commercials featuring Eva Longoria to get the gist.

NYX Butter Lipstick

Since I have not colored my hair in over a year and a half, this is mostly my natural color with some lingering highlights (the reason my hair is more blonde at the tips of some strands). I can spot the grays in my hair without zooming in, but feel free to zoom in (thanks if you have zoom) for a closer look.

Urban Decay Lipstick Dark

The picture above is after I applied spray. I do not spot any grays, so I think this successfully covered them all. It does create a little frizz from the sprayer, but I can work most of that out.

I ended up doing two up close before and after shots, because I noticed the light changed slightly the first time I used this product. This is not camera trickery, but the lighting really shifted in less than a minute. The picture above is what my hair looked like before I sprayed this.

I sprayed this a little too close to my head and a little too long, so it actually stained my scalp. All the stain came out the next time I washed my hair, so it did not inflict any damage. Thanks to the shift in lightning, it is hard to see, but the grays are definitely covered.

The lighting did not shift in the second set of pictures. It is much easier to spot the grays in the before picture and compare it to the after picture.

When I look at the after picture, I only spot one gray (I’m not telling where I spot it, so you can play Where’s Waldo). It is likely I just missed that spot. This spray definitely covers grays as long as the product coats the strands of hair with them. In my attempt not to stain my head, I held the sprayer farther back this time. I also sprayed for a shorter period. If you have more grays and do not mind a slightly stained scalp, you could spray closer to your scalp and for a longer period. This should cover them all. Once again, the sprayer disheveled my hair a bit, but it is somewhat repairable.

As long as you get a color that is close to your natural hair color, this should work. The color of mine is so close to my natural color that my husband insisted he could not tell a difference. That is a good thing though. I do not want an obvious difference. Just cover my grays and blend in with my hair. He is a gentleman and barely notices my grays though, even though I am sure he really sees them.

I give this four out of five stars. It definitely works and looks completely natural if you buy the right color and do not spray too close to your scalp. The price is a little steep at $9.99 for 2 ounces, but I’ve already used it three times and feel there is a lot left. It will probably last a while. My hair is naturally soft (despite being frizzy), and this hardens it a bit. I would liken it to the feeling of a light hold hairspray, so it is not too bad. This also adds a bit of frizz I cannot work out since this is the last product I apply. A brush will put everything back in place, but that sticky feeling is not fun to brush through. If you have a lot of gray or regrowth from your natural color blending in with your bottled color, this is a great item for your arsenal. As someone with a little gray and natural hair, I will not purchase this for a while. Once the gray takes over, I will be all over this.

Once you’ve tried the product, you have tasks to complete. Completing the tasks helps you qualify for future programs. These are the tasks I will complete for this campaign. The tasks on this list are right on par with my recent mission.
