I spent all of 2014 and 2015 collecting the Julep birthstones. My plan was to collect every birthstone in 2016 as well. Julep decided to forgo the Birthstone Collection this year to focus on the Zodiac Collection. Each sign releases before the introduction to the new period. That means we can expect each sign to release before the secret store opens. Thanks to a great code in my July Julep Subscription Box, I was able to place this order before the item hit the secret store. This was the first order I’ve ever paid sales tax on. The August selection email notified everyone in my state and about 10 others that we will start paying sales tax, so I expected this.
The seventh nail polish in the Zodiac Collection is Leo. I used the code SUMMERCOLOR for a free nail polish color with a $10 purchase. That code is valid through 08/31/16. My body sponge was dying, and I did not want to resort to the loofa I received in a Target Beauty Box (yet). It arrived a year ago, and I did not replace my sponge sooner to finally use that. At the last-minute, I changed my mind. Thinking back to when I used those regularly, they were never pleasant. Like other Julep products, this product had a name change. Online, it is the Charcoal Body Konjac Sponge, but it still says It’s Fun to Exfoliate on the package.
My July Subscription Box arrived on the 19th, but the code was not working on Leo yet. It only worked when I ordered Leo with another polish. I decided to try for a few days and planned to just get a polish if it never loaded with the sponge. In case it never loaded, I also chose to select a sponge with my August Subscription Box (arriving tomorrow). This code finally worked with the sponge on the 24th, but the Maven window closed before I tried to change the sponge inside my box. That was between 10 and 11pm on the West Coast, and Julep is on the West Coast. The window should have been open. At least I know and love the sponge, so I do not mind receiving two a day apart.
Leo is a shimmering golden honey duo metallic. This is a copper-bronze shade. The finish is semi glossy and a little rough. A top coat can smooth it out. Compare this to my other copper and bronze polishes. See this featured in a manicure.
I usually would not pay the full $12.60 Maven price for the body sponge, but I do not mind paying it when I get a free polish. This is a nice code. If you want to join Julep, visit my Julep Maven page to see all start-up offers. Visit my regular Julep page to see more offers for shopping. All polishes above are swatched once. They get darker with more swatches. See all Zodiac Collection, Julep, or Subscription articles. Tips For Getting the Best Deal lays out every way I can think of to save money at Julep.
