Ulta Gorgeous Hair Event Haul and a Pureology Beauty Break

A list of all recent Ulta Beauty Breaks.

The Spring 2016 Gorgeous Hair event officially wrapped last night. Based on history, the fall event will likely start sometime around 10/02/16, but it could start October 9th. This event is to hair what the 21 Days of Beauty is to makeup and the Glowing Skin Event is to skincare. If your hair products can wait until then, it is probably worth waiting. While it will be months before the lineup gets announced, a lot of items will appear. Hair products around the middle of this sale had a 5x points offer. This order from 05/18/16 received 5x points on the hair products. There is a good chance a similar promotion will début with the fall event. Getting bonus points on steals is too good to pass up. Making plans before the event starts can help make the most of the deals. This order was 3x points.

I wanted to make the most of the 5x points promo, so I waited for a Beauty Break (released most Wednesdays). This landed on a day where there were actually Beauty Steals I wanted to try, so it worked out all the way around.

The Beauty Break only required a $40 purchase, and I bought steals (which gives Platinum members free shipping with a $10 purchase). I went as little over $40 as possible. Even though I requested the skincare sampler, I received a fragrance sample. My samples were a 0.05oz Juicy Couture I am Juicy Couture and a 0.05oz Catherine Malandrino Style de Paris. These are both brands I’ve tried before, but the scents are new to me.

The Beauty Break was a four-piece gift from Pureology. It included: a 1.7oz Pure Volume Shampoo ($7.50), a 1.7oz Pure Volume Conditioner ($7.50), a 1oz Pure Volume Instant Levitation ($9), and a 1.8oz Colour Fanatic Instant Conditioning Whipped Cream ($8).

I’ve always wanted to try Oscar Blandi dry shampoos, but I have yet to receive any samples. When I saw everything from the line was buy one, get one free for this steal, I decided to buy two travel sizes. That way, I am not out too much if I hate them. It also did not make sense to purchase full-sized bottles when I have so many dry shampoos in my stash. The one I wanted to try the most was out-of-stock by the time I went to make my purchase. Everyone else must have wanted to try the same one.

The 1oz Oscar Blandi Dry Shampoo has a formula unlike any dry shampoo I’ve ever tried, so it could be interesting (hopefully in a good way).

The 1.4oz Oscar Blandi Pronto Dry Shampoo Powder Spray is the best-selling dry shampoo from the line, so it is the one I wanted to try second most.

I purchased the Nexxus Humectress Ultimate Moisturizing Conditioner, because I had less conditioner in my stash than I realized. This helps balance out a single shampoo, even though it is from a different brand. The brand itself did not matter to me, so I purchased a conditioner that was on a steal.

After finding items from the event I wanted, I checked the sales section and noticed they had great discounts on Urban Decay Revolution lipsticks and Butter London nail polishes. I am a fan of both.

The Butter London Patent Shine 10x Lacquer in Dearie Me! is a cool rose cream. Although I am sure I have similar colors in my collection, this really caught my eye. It looks even better in the natural light swatch than it does in the bottle, so I am very happy with this selection. The finish is shiny (not as shiny as I expected) and smooth. Compare this to my other pink polishes.

The Urban Decay Revolution Lipstick in Shame (a deep berry) is actually one I’ve swatched before. It was shortly after I wore Kat Von D Studded Kiss in Homegirl.

Urban Decay Lipstick

I did not like the Kat Von D formula (for that shade), but I loved the color. Someone mentioned this one was close in color but had a better formula. If I was not backlogged on lipstick, I would have purchased it. I remembered that I liked the swatch and would buy it at some point. It’s a good thing I waited, so I could take advantage of this deal.

Urban Decay Lipstick 2

This was not as close to Homegirl as I would have liked. It is a lot glossier. I am not opposed to any finish in particular, but I preferred the deep, matte look it had. That color also seemed a little darker. The formula on this is much better. As it fades, it does get a little patchy toward the inner part of the lips, but it stays bright on the outer part. A little extra lipstick immediately fixes it to where it is back to looking like the picture below. This is somewhat moisturizing and while it does transfer a bit, it mostly stays in place. It is a shame this formula was discontinued.

The Ulta Cotton Plastic Color Swabs got me over the $40 minimum, but I am sure they are fine. The cotton swabs in my travel bag have a similar container that recently got damaged, so it was a good time to buy these.

I received a product card offering 20% off NuFace items through 06/15/16 using the code SPRINGNUFACE.

I will continue to post offers I am aware of, so no worries if you happen upon this post after the offers above expire. If you have questions about any Ulta Coupon, I go over all types. Targeted Offers are exclusive to UltaMate Members, so I do recommend joining. New members get $10 of their first purchase with a referral. Remember to check all Ulta offers before placing an online order, because there are always general or brand specific offers that are not targeted. Deal stacking is not only allowed, it’s encouraged.
