When Sephora released the Disney Minnie Beauty By Sephora Collection, there were three pieces I needed. I love all things beauty and all things Disney, so limiting what I collect is difficult. The first was the Minnie World in Color Eyeshadow Palette, which I picked up during the Sephora Love Note Sale. This is still available and definitely worth it. There was a 250 point tote bag (which may still be available in stores but is out of stock online) that I also think is worth it. My last piece was harder to pick up, but I finally got it on 05/03/16.

I used the annual VIB Discount as the promotion code with this order. It gave me 10% ($5.40) off. When you use a discount code, you’re not eligible to receive a product promotion. Although I generally prefer to use my discount with a higher purchase amount, I wanted to get this for less than $50 (before tax), but it was not available during the Love Note sale. Getting 10% off is not as good as 15%, but it is better than nothing. This code is for VIB or Rouge accounts to use for 10% off once a year. You’re eligible once per calendar year if you qualify for VIB status (even if you eventually qualify for Rouge).

I have not qualified for VIB in 2016 yet. My 2015 qualification, which is good through 2016, counted for this year. It resets around mid January each year, so I cannot use it again until around 01/15/17 (if I qualify again this year). Saving $5.40 on this is really not that much and many promo codes for product are worth more than that. My advice is use the code when it’s best for you, which is usually with a larger purchase. I am not planning any large purchases outside of the 20% off (VIB) sale, so this was fine for me.

The Sephora Collection Disney Minnie Beauty Minnie’s Aren’t You Gorgeous Handheld Mirror, which retails for $54 is a VIB Rouge exclusive. It is not even listed in the Rouge Exclusive section and will not even pull up when it is out of stock. When it finally released on 04/22/16, I was a little too slow trying to grab it. Since then, I had a few missed attempts, including one the day before I finally got this where it went out of stock while I was checking out. Unless this mirror is in stock, you cannot even access the product page. Thankfully, I added it to my Loves List to stalk it faster.

This hand-held mirror is actually quite large. Using my 13 inch laptop in both of the pictures above, you can see the laptop completely disappears while the mirror is still in the box. From top to bottom, it still almost covers the width of the laptop.

The back is all gold (the color not the metal), although this is obviously made of metal. It is very heavy. I’ve owned a few hand-held mirrors in my life time, but this is the heaviest. If someone startles you while you’re doing makeup with this, you will have a weapon ready (if needed).

I love the detail on the mirror: from the bow (on the front and the back), to the xoxo, Minnie on the front, to the cute little charm that adorns the top of the handle, and the Sephora inscription at the bottom of the handle. The only thing that would have made this mirror nicer is if they offered it in silver instead of gold.

The surface area of the actual mirror is almost as big as my hand. My hand is almost as big as my face, so this is about the size of my face. That makes it very practical for makeup application. Of course, there is nothing wrong with storing this is a box and saving it as a collector’s item either. I am still trying to decide how much I will use this. I will take better pictures tomorrow when I have more light. It was already dark by the time this arrived.

This ran out of stock almost immediately after I purchased it, but it has come back in stock multiple times since then. My guess is Sephora is releasing a small amount at a time to control inventory. It is a bit of a hassle to stalk the product, but it is extremely worth it. The mirror is beautiful, substantial, and nicely made. There is nothing cheap about this mirror, so it is worth the $54 price tag.

If you find this in stock, I highly recommend it. The $100+ price this is retailing for at unauthorized retailers is probably not worth it unless you are a huge Disney and beauty fans. I really am, but I would never pay the reseller mark up for this or anything, which I’ve discussed before.

I actually picked up the Sephora Collection Disney Minnie Beauty Reflection of Minnie Compact Mirror a few days later, because I thought they would be cuter together.

Two of the three samples I requested must have been out of stock. Thankfully, the one I really wanted arrived. Though I’ve received it in a past Birchbox and have not even tried it yet, I do not like passing deluxe items in the sample section. While I would have preferred the ones I selected to the substitutions, I will give these a shot. I received: a 0.1oz Yu-Be Moisturizing Skin Cream (which I ordered), a 0.03oz Giorgio Armani Fluid Sheer, and a piece 0.25oz each Alterna Bamboo set of Luminous Shine Shampoo, Luminous Shine Conditioner, and Silk Sleek Brilliance Cream. The 3x points on fragrance promotion (typical for Mother’s Day) runs through 05/08/16. I received single use samples of the following fragrances to promote this event: Dolce & Gabbana Dolce Rosa Excelsa, Marc Jacobs Daisy, Maison Margiela Replica Beach Walk, Dior J’adore, Elizabeth and James Nirvana White, and Tory Burch Jolie Fleur Rose.

This will combine with almost any available promo code (as long as the item is still in stock and it is not a one time use code you’ve already redeemed). I’d suggest loading the promo to your cart with a filler item, so you can save a step of this comes back in stock. Looking around for promo codes when you need to check out as fast as possible can backfire.
