Birchbox Man gives at least four grooming samples a month for $20. The price is double the Woman’s Box, because of the added lifestyle item, which usually retails for over $20 by itself. As long as the lifestyle item is something you’d want, you should always get your investment back. You will get an email reminding you to select your lifestyle item. Respond as soon as you can, because the more desirable lifestyle items can go out-of-stock. All grooming samples are chosen based on the answers to your online profile questions. For every review on an item received in your box, you get 10 points, which is equal to $1 in the shop. A five item box, like this one, gets my husband $5 back.
The theme for this month is Time to Shine. It arrived in the standard boring brown box.
The first thing you notice when you open a box is a card going over the box theme.
It directs you to the website for a list of samples.
This list on your dashboard tells you what you received, how much it would cost to purchase the full size, and refers you to the product page if you want more information on it.
The 0.36oz Bálla for Men Powder is worth $1.75. Getting this talc-powder on a day where Johnson & Johnson lost a $55 million lawsuit for possible causation in a customer’s cancer due to 40 years using Baby Powder is concerning. My husband still wants to try this, so I hope it goes well.
The 10z Kiehl’s Facial Fuel Energizing Face Wash is worth $2.62. Unless this smells like a man, I plan on sneaking this. I love trying all things Kiehl’s and caffeine in face wash seems intriguing.
The 1oz Baxter of California Herbal Mint Toner is worth $1.80. I purchased him a toner a while back and he barely uses it. He says, “I am not a big fan of using crap just to use crap.” Hopefully, he gives this a real shot, because I found that toner preps my skin with moisture to allow everything I apply afterward to absorb better. Even when I start applying products right after washing, the toner gives myself a better base than my dry face alone. Sometimes, it even removes dirt my other products left. That helps me realize which cleansers are better than others. Toner is an overlooked superstar in my routine.
There is no size listed for the English Laundry Eau de Parfum Notting Hill, but this looks like the average 0.05oz vial. Using that size, this sample is worth $1.25. I find English laundry scents overwhelming, so I doubt he’ll like this. If I am wrong, I will report back.
The ICNY Twill Ball Cap, which was the lifestyle item he selected this month, retails for $34.95. As you can tell from the flash picture of all the contents, the logo is reflective. That and the reflective band in the back make this a great cap for night-time, even though it is black.
The box has a $42.37 value. His personal value is also $42.37, because he will try everything in the box. This was not one of his favorite boxes, so he’d probably consider this a less successful box. He did not like the hat, which is where most of the value in this box comes from. If you want to subscribe, remember to look at start-up offers and all available offers. When you’re ready to spend your rewards points, remember to add your free two piece sample pack when spending $35 from the Bonus Shop. See other Birchbox Subscription articles. I'm Kimberly. Shopping is always more fun when I've found the best deal available, so I am always on the hunt. My father instilled that in me, and I love that I carry a piece of him. Sometimes, my husband and sons (12 and 7) let me shop for them, too. They do not use as many beauty products as I do. We can all benefit from nice products, even though their routine ends with moisturizer. That is when I can convince my 12-year-old to apply it.
