The Sephora Love Note Sale, which I still refer to as Chic Week, launched today for Rouge members. It launches tomorrow for VIB and on the 9th for Beauty Insiders. Rouge and VIB clients get 15% off and can shop through the 13th. Beauty Insiders get 10% off and can shop through the 12th. There are a few changes to the program this year. I decided to go into the store today to get the free bag for Rouge clients to kick off the sale. If you like the bag and are not a Rouge member or were unable to get one, this is a 250 point perk anyone can redeem.
I had my eyes on the Disney Minnie Beauty By Sephora Collection. Trying to select the items I wanted without buying all of them was a challenge. The item I want most is the Hand Held Mirror ($54). It is a Rouge exclusive, but was unavailable during the sale. This mirror did come back in stock (and keeps coming back in stock), so I was able to purchase it on 05/03/16. Hopefully, it returns. From the items available in store, I decided to get the Minnie World in Color Eyeshadow Palette.
The cashier asked is she could give me samples. That does not happen often, so it was a nice touch. She gave me a 0.03oz Amore Pacific Rejuvenating Serum and single use samples of Bobbi Brown Creamy Concealer in Bisque and Light Peach.
The free bag (#TakemetoSephora) is cute.
I probably would not have paid 250 points for it, but I am happy to have it. To avoid charging my account 250 points for it, the cashier did not ring this up, so it does not show in my order history or the current point perks. My guess is it will add online soon.
The Disney Minnie Beauty By Sephora Collection Canvas Bag is also a 250 point perk. This is one I gladly redeemed for. I am happy to order all things Minnie or Disney. It is plain white on the back.
There were a couple of displays, so I am glad I looked around the store. The one on the outer edge only had eyeshadow palettes and lipsticks.
The brush set and additional eyeshadow palettes were in the center of the store. I remember seeing the compact mirrors, but I cannot remember where.
The Minnie World in Color Eyeshadow Palette retails for $45. I swatched four shades in the store and was only impressed by two. Of course, I got it anyway for my love of all things Minnie.
The palette actually resembles a clutch. If you’ve ever been to Toon Town, you may notice this would fit right in with its cartoonish effect.
The back is plain black.
You could actually use this as a clutch.
The hole on the top left (by the mirror) and the bottom right (by the shadows) help you lift the cardboard cutouts out.
Once they come out, the clutch also gets a lot lighter (which is impressive considering the removable parts are cardboard.
The background inside is not the prettiest, but it would still look flashy from the outside.
There are 20 shades inside. The middle 4 shades are 0.034oz, the 8 shades on the outside corners are 0.026oz, and the other 8 shades are 0.029oz. I will notify Sephora of the mislabeled (online) sizes.
My experience in store where half of the shades were lovely and the other were not great held up as I swatched all 20. About half of these were stunning and only one or two passes of color. Others were less stunning after 3-4 passes of color. Of course, I will give them a shot and share my experience as I wear them.
The top row includes: Flirt in a Skirt (matte medium brown), Hello Mickey! (shimmer fuchsia pink), Put a Bow On It (matte light beige), Daisy’s My BFF (matte bright white), and I’m All Ears (matte dark black).
The second row includes: Yoo-Hoo! (shimmer lime green), Ex-boyfriend (metallic light pink), Some Like It Dot (metallic orange copper), Mickey’s Squeeze (sparkle lavender), and Blue Rhythm (frosted light blue).
The third row includes: Puppy Love (matte light yellow), Starlets (frosted rosy-pink), Red Carpet Arrival (matte dark brown), Girlish Appeal (pearl plum), and So Demure (pearl navy blue).
The fourth row includes: Miss Minnie (frosted orange-red), Big Shoes to Fill (shimmer yellow), Pick Me Up at 8 (metallic yellow-gold), Whoopee Party (matte purple-blue), and Be My Bow (frosted gray).
The shadows were easy to work with and blended beautifully. This look uses Miss Minnie on the lid, Red Carpet Arrival at 8 in the outer V and outer crease, Pick Me Up at 8 on the brow bone and to highlight, and Starlets as a transition color.
I adored the overall look, and the colors remained vibrant all day. My only complaint is there was light creasing on both eyes. Creasing is the worst, especially when I use Nars Pro Prime, as I did here.
The second application actually went a little better. I had no creasing all day. The shadows blended nicely and were easy to work with.
This look uses Hello Mickey! on the lid, Starlets as a transition shade, Some Like It Dot in my crease, and Ex-boyfriend as a highlight.
I cashed in 2200 points called SB from Swagbucks for a $25 Sephora gift card. It usually costs 2500, but they have sales for 10% off your first gift card redemption of the month. The sale brought the $45 palette to $38.25. Then, I used my free $25 gift card and paid the $16.37 (with tax) difference.
