Nerd Block Jr March 2016

This Nerd Block Jr For Boys subscription is for my 9-year-old son, Xander. It costs $13.99 plus shipping ($6) per month and is for boys aged 6-11. All plans auto-renew. You get a discount paying up front for a set number of boxes. Save 10% at 3 months ($12.59 each plus shipping), save 15% at 6 months ($11.89 each plus shipping), and save 20% at 12 months ($11.19 each plus shipping). Each box has at least $40 in value and gives 4-6 toys. We are on the six-month subscription. You pay for all boxes and shipping on all boxes up front. Nerd Block has a variety of subscription offers including: Classic, Arcade, Horror, SciFi, Comic, Jr For Boys, and Jr For Girls. For details on all boxes, visit my Nerd Block Page.

This box actually has 7 items, which seems incredible considering he should only get 4-6. There is no product card, which I generally like to see. It is also difficult to price out items in the box. Many are not easily available for purchase. While I can find similar products or items marked up from the original seller on eBay or Amazon, the actual items are difficult to find. That also makes the value very subjective. If something originally retails for one price but is now only available for purchase through a marked up reseller, valuation can fluctuate.

Xander did not immediately give anything away from this box (as he did last month), so I think he liked this one better (even though he really liked that one, too). The item he reached for first was Funko Pop! Marvel Guardians of The Galaxy Ronan. We both liked the movie more than I thought we would, so I am not surprised he loves this. It retails for $9.92 at Wal-Mart.

The second item, which was equally exciting for him is the limited edition Dark Knight Batman Domo Plush. It retails for $19.99 at I try to only link retailers I am familiar with, so click those direct links at your own risk. Everything on the site looks legit though. This is also available at Amazon and eBay, and the prices vary drastically. This is a plush. Big mouth and all, it is pretty cute.

The Star Wars Storm Trooper Eraser Pencil Topper was difficult to find. I only see it in a set of 4 on They are selling for $12.49, so this is worth $3.12. It looks nicer than that, so I think it probably went for more initially. He really likes this, so he will probably remove the base and stick it on a pencil (instead of saving it).

The only place I found these Batman V Superman Stickers was at an Etsy shop called CountryCroppers. I’ve never purchased from that shop, so again, click at your own risk. This shop lists the 2 sheet package and the 4 sheet package included here, but it only has pricing for the 2 sheets. When I click on the 4 sheet set, nothing happens. I am using the 2 sheet price of $1.99 and multiplying it by 2 for this value, $3.98.

The Minecraft Foil Sticker Pack is a three-piece set of mystery stickers. It retails for $2.99 at, where I purchase most of their Minecraft items, including a pack of these stickers. Thankfully, the three he received here were different from ones we purchased in the past. He was happy with these.

The item from the last month’s spoiler is this Yo-Kai Watch Series 1 Medal Mystery Bag. They retail for $2.99 at Both of my boys like these. I was worried that they would not be interested, because they are not aware of this series. However, my younger son was playing with them all morning.

The 7.75 inch Transformers Poly Kite, which I could only find on, has huge price fluctuation. This BumbleBee one goes for as little as $1.15 plus $3.74 shipping to over $10. Amazon lists this, but I cannot find it available. I will list this at $4.89, because shipping is a clever way to increase the price, but I am unsure how much it originally went for.

There is a teaser for next month inside. This card shows that next month’s box will feature something from Penguins of Madagascar. I really love the Madagascar movies, and think the penguins from that movie were hilarious. It should be a great movie once they branch out on their own.

NerdBlock Jr March 2016 2

This box cost $17.89 ($11.89 plus $6 shipping) and is worth $47.88. His personal value is $47.88, because he is keeping everything. Pricing the box is always difficult, because many items are not available for sale by the time they arrive inside a box and while Nerd Block may use the over-inflated Amazon value, I do not. Xander was very happy with the box overall, so I’d say it was a successful month. Even with giving an item away, he still had 6 left. The squishy toy was his favorite item and the dog tag Minion necklace was his least favorite.

Ready to Subscribe? Remember to check my Nerd Block Page for all information about subscription options. Discount codes (which only apply to month-to-month subscriptions) do pop up at times. If there are any available codes, I will place them there. The discount will only apply to the first block, so you’d only get $1.40 off a 10% offer or $2.10 off a 15% offer. It always saves you more to purchase multiple blocks up front than to wait for a discount code that only saves you money of the first one. Blocks start shipping on the 15th, so you must subscribe before the 15th to get a box from the current month.

I'm Kimberly. Shopping is always more fun when I've found the best deal available, so I am always on the hunt. My father instilled that in me, and I love that I carry a piece of him. Sometimes, my husband and sons (12 and 7) let me shop for them, too. They do not use as many beauty products as I do. We can all benefit from nice products, even though their routine ends with moisturizer. That is when I can convince my 12-year-old to apply it.

Deal or No Deal? What Do You Think?
