Nail Polish Swatches Greens
My nail polish collection is large. Polishes kept in good condition (away from heat or light) can last a long time, longer than the two years many people quote. A good thinner (I use Seche Vite) can also revive them. I have tossed polishes when thinner cannot save them or they have obviously gone bad, but it is rare. When I started collecting polishes again, I tossed all polishes older than the summer of 2013. To avoid ordering duplicates, I created a spreadsheet. Swatching them with these spoons I purchased from Amazon will help me compare the colors, finishes, and overall quality. All polishes only have one coat, because I wanted to spot the difference between my sheer and opaque polishes. We’ve all seen polishes that look dark in the bottle only to need 3-4 coats for opaqueness. No polishes have base or top coats either, because that can change the way the polish looks.
This will cover greens. I thought it would be nice to wrap the nail polish series with the greens on Saint Patrick’s Day. These polishes look green in the bottle or have green in the polish name. They are not necessarily labeled green by the polish manufacturer and do not always look green once they’re swatched. Every time I get a new green polish, I will edit this to add the new one in. Of course, the polish will also be featured in the article reviewing the purchase. If you’d like to see any of my other nail polish colors, I also have articles for Corals & Oranges, Yellows & Golds, Browns & Blacks, Blues, Pinks, Beiges & Nudes, Coppers and Bronzes, Reds, Sheers & Whites, Salmon & Wines, Purples, Grays & Silvers, and Nail Treatments, Base Coats, & Top Coats.
I photographed the greens in order from lightest to darkest and used a flash. Of course, the second picture starts with the darker greens that did not fit in the first picture. The flash is wonderful at picking up detail and finish. The individual pictures below use natural daylight for a more exact color. When I add new polishes, I will not take group pictures again, but I will place the new individual picture in order of where it lies within the shade meaning every article will have the lightest shade first and the darkest last.
The Elf on the Shelf Cotton Candy Scented lime green sheer polish with green and gold glitter. It does have a faint cotton candy scent that disappears the longer it is worn. The finish is semi glossy and a little rough. A top coat should smooth it out. This was a Christmas Gift from my son. I am not doing a separate article on this, so it is only mentioned here.
OPI Go On Green is a sheer blue-green with green micro glitter. The finish is semi glossy and smooth.
NARS Disco Inferno is a duo chrome. It is a sheer pale green and silver-violet blend with green and gold micro glitter. This looks more green in regular light, but the silver-violet shines with bright lights (like in the group photo with the flash). The finish is semi glossy and smooth.
Sephora X Ariel is a sheer turquoise top coat with an iridescent green glitter. The finish is a little rough. A top coat should smooth it out.

Julep Shoshanna is a sheer polish with full-coverage yellow holographic glitter. While yellow is the main color, there is enough red and green glitter to give this a green feel. The finish is semi glossy and slightly rough. A top coat or two can smooth it out.
wet n wild Glowstick is a neon green with yellow micro glitter. The finish is semi glossy and smooth.

Julep Capricorn is an evergreen starlit shimmer. The finish is semi glossy and smooth.
Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Chimera is a mint green metallic. It is somewhere between a teal and an emerald with mint and green micro glitter. The finish is semi glossy and smooth. This is one of my favorite polishes.
Julep Celia is an icy green metallic. It has mint micro glitter like Chimera, but the base color is darker (closer to an emerald). The finish is semi glossy and smooth.
Formula X Mr Positivity is between a teal and an emerald with a green glitter, but it becomes deeper (closer to a full emerald) with more coats. The finish is semi matte (although the glitter looks semi glossy in the light) and a little rough. A top coat should smooth it out.
The darker greens are below.

See this featured in a manicure.

I'm Kimberly. Shopping is always more fun when I've found the best deal available, so I am always on the hunt. My father instilled that in me, and I love that I carry a piece of him. Sometimes, my husband and sons (13 and 8) let me shop for them, too. They do not use as many beauty products as I do. We can all benefit from nice products, even though their routine ends with moisturizer. That is when I can convince my 13-year-old to apply it.
