My Sephora 2016 Birthday Gifts
See Sephora Birthday Gift Reviews 2020
All Sephora Beauty Insiders get a free birthday gift. There are two gifts to choose from, and I will go over the gift I selected in this article. One gift is for the skin care lover, and the other is for the makeup lover. If you love both like I do, good luck choosing. They’re both incredible this year. It is completely free if you pick it up in person or you can include it with an online order any time from two weeks before your birthday until two weeks after your birthday. Email reminders go out (for those signed up to receive emails). If you did not receive an email or do not see the option to add it online, I have instructions in this article.
I decided to place my order online, because an item I really wanted popped up on 03/08/16. That also allowed me to use a promo code. The code I used was VIBYSL. It gives a 0.33oz Yves Saint Laurent Touche Eclat Foundation in Beige 50, and a 0.33oz Yves Saint Laurent Blur Primer. This promo code requires VIB status (or higher) and a $35 minimum purchase. Someone reported the Blur Primer ran out, so this promo only gives foundation now. This is what happened to me when I ordered the VIBBLUR promo on 09/15/15. By the time it finally arrived, the Blur Primer was out of stock, so I never received it. Only the Blur Perfector arrived. The foundation in this promo is way too dark for me, so I will gift it or trade it. If I would have missed the Blur Primer again, that would have blown big time.
The picture above is everything I received in the order (opened up). Paint it Pink Sephora Favorites (the pink items on the bottom of the top picture) posted yesterday, so the review is only posted there. All the freebies I received with this order are below. I already went over the 2 piece online order promotion.
In addition to getting an online promotion, you also get three samples. I selected: a 0.017oz Verb Leave-In Mist, a one-time use Kate Somerville EradiKate™ To-Go Acne Treatment, and a 0.04oz Miu Miu Eau de Parfum. I’ve never tried the Verb or the Miu Miu, so I was happy to see those samples. The Eradikate is something I know and love, but I do not own any in the to-go treatment form. It will be nice to use these while traveling, because the glass bottle this product comes in is fragile for travel.
I redeemed 100 Beauty Insider points for a 0.05oz Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche Lipstick in Radish. It arrived a little sweaty, but it was not as sweaty as the Laura Mercier lipstick from the set I paid for.
I love the fuchsia color. The formula is lovely. It is not as moisturizing as the regular line of lipsticks, but it still does a great job. Where this improves is in longevity. This lasts a really long time. From morning until evening, I only needed a single touch-up in the middle of the day. It does not accentuate dry patches and only slightly highlights lip lines. The finish is semi shiny.
I really love the color from the swatch, so I look forward to trying this. Although I have not tried anything from the Amuse Bouche line yet, I’ve never tried a Bite Beauty lipstick I did not like.
I selected the Marc Jacobs gift even though I am upset there is no Rouge bonus this year. This was a really hard decision, because I love the Rose Face Mask in the Fresh set.
This set includes: a 0.03oz Marc Jacobs Beauty Le Marc Lip Crème in Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, and a 0.01oz Highliner Gel Crayon Blacquer. The lipstick color is new to me, and I am a fan of the Le Marc formula. Although I already own a Highliner, I really love the formula of this eyeliner, so I am happy to have another one.
This baked rose is more stunning than I pictured, so I am glad I went with this gift.
This is a moisturizing formula. Unlike its Rouge counterpart, it fades quickly. My guess is you get 2-4 hours and a single meal erases most of the color. It accentuates lip lines, but it does not highlight dry patches. The formula is comfortable while it lasts, and I really like the color.
The highliner is a solid black eyeliner that does not skip.
It glides on easily and does not budge on my upper lash line.
It does move a bit on my water line thanks to the gel formula. My eyes do better with kohl formulas.
It does not really move at all on my upper lid (even when I tried to smudge it after initially wanting to go thick and deciding to take the line a little thinner).
If you’re unfamiliar with program perks or how promotions work, I cover that. Do not forget to get your free Sephora gift if your birthday was within two weeks. Sephora does not inform a single Beauty Insider of all deal details. Certain offers are targeted and others have different purchase minimums based on the code. Remember to check New Offers and/or Recycled Offers before placing an online order. If you’re spending over $25, you can add a promo code to any order. See all Sephora articles. I'm Kimberly. Shopping is always more fun when I've found the best deal available, so I am always on the hunt. My father instilled that in me, and I love that I carry a piece of him. Sometimes, my husband and sons (13 and 8) let me shop for them, too. They do not use as many beauty products as I do. We can all benefit from nice products, even though their routine ends with moisturizer. That is when I can convince my 13-year-old to apply it.
