Julep Aquarius and a Secret Store Haul

I spent all of 2014 and 2015 collecting the Julep birthstones. My plan was to collect every birthstone in 2016 as well. Julep decided to forgo the Birthstone Collection this year to focus on the Zodiac Collection. Each sign releases prior to the introduction to the new period. That means we can expect each sign to release before the secret store opens. Generally, I suggest purchasing special polishes outside of the secret store, because you usually cannot apply a discount code to secret store purchases. February marks the second month in a row where Julep released a secret store code. That means waiting to purchase your Zodiac polish until the secret store opens will probably save you a lot of money this year.

The first nail polish in the Zodiac Collection is Aquarius. It released before the secret store offered it, but I waited patiently. Once I saw it in the secret store in a set (Making Waves) that included Manda for $14.99, I got that instead. This was only $3.70 more than purchasing it on its own, and I did not already own the gorgeous shade. I had to order something else with it to get over the minimum. Completely forgetting that I added a konjac sponge in my February 2016 Box, I decided to add a two pack from the shop. In the store, the price was a penny cheaper than buying one at the non-Maven price. It is not the best I’ve seen, but it was good enough for me (with the code). My JANSS10 promo code for $10 off a $20 Secret Store Purchase applied.

Julep Aquarius

Aquarius is a multidimensional teal duo metallic to match the aqua babe’s electric vibe. This retails for $14 or $11.20 for Mavens. Compare this to my other blue polishes.

Julep Aquarius 2

Manda is a sky blue with golden shimmer. This retails for $14 or $11.20 for Mavens. Compare this to my other blue polishes.

Julep Manda

The Konjac Cleansing Sponge is a product I already know and love. Each retails for $12 or $9.60 for Mavens. I hope to replace them any time I get them on sale. My husband claimed the one from my February Box while my sons claimed these. Thankfully, I have a special box order arriving later today that includes a sponge of its own, so I will still have a backup once my current one gives out.

Julep Aquarius 3

Getting two polishes and two konjac sponges for $16.98 makes each item about $4.25. My last birthstone order from December 2015 did slightly better, but that was the first time I was able to buy my polish from the Secret Store. That is better than I usually do for these orders. I hope Julep allows secret store codes throughout the year. Prior to my last order, I’ve never seen a code that works in the Secret Store. Each code can be used twice, so I will probably use this code for the next polish and keep the new code (already released for the one after that). Remember to check all offers before placing an online order.

I'm Kimberly. Shopping is always more fun when I've found the best deal available, so I am always on the hunt. My father instilled that in me, and I love that I carry a piece of him. Sometimes, my husband and sons (12 and 7) let me shop for them, too. They do not use as many beauty products as I do. We can all benefit from nice products, even though their routine ends with moisturizer. That is when I can convince my 12-year-old to apply it.

Deal or No Deal? What Do You Think?
