Ulta 20% off Prestige Urban Decay Gwen Stefani Blush Palette
See the 2019 20% off Prestige Coupon Offers.
Ulta releases 20% off prestige coupons to UltaMate members five times a year: late January, early April, Platinum members in late June 2016, early July for UltaMate, late July for Platinum members (this is the normal time but members who received them in June did not receive the July offer), late October, and Mid December. The July offer was reduced to 10% for non Platinum members in 2015 and 2016. In 2016, the early April offer was also reduced to 10% for non Platinum members. During this promotion, select UltaMate members receive a coupon for $15 off a $50 purchase if they have not shopped in a long time. Each unique coupon is eligible for one online purchase AND one in-store purchase. Coupons emailed have a different code than coupons mailed. If you receive a coupon from both methods, you will have two different online codes and two different in-store bar codes.
Prestige offers have a few exclusions, so these coupons are not 20% off everything as the ad that comes with coupon states. They exclude: Clinique, Lancome, Dermalogica, Dyson, Beauty Steals, and Benefit Brow Bar. Additional exclusions including fragrance and select new releases will be added at times. There are other times throughout the year to get general offers for 20% off non-prestige or 20% off a single item, but those are general, multi-use codes. If you have more questions about this or any Ulta Coupon, I go over all types.
This is typically the first big promotion of the year. With the 2016 launch of the Glowing Skin Event, I wondered what other changes we would see to the program. That event is to skincare what The 21 Days of Beauty is to makeup and Love Your Hair is to hair products. Surely, it stood to reason, this change could result in changes to other promotions. After all, 2015 saw a couple of changes, most notably the 10x points event for Platinum members in August had a lot of exclusions. We also saw the minimum to achieve Platinum status raised from $400 to $450 in 2016.
When the Glowing Skin Event wrapped on 01/23/16, I expected to see the 20% offer sometime around the 24th. It arrived on the 30th, which was not too much later than I expected and still in January. Last year, it was good for over a week. It was actually less than 24 hours, because Ulta’s business day resets at midnight central time (very strictly) and the codes were not emailed until many hours later. Thankfully, I knew what I wanted and was able to place a quick order. Unfortunately, by limiting the coupon to one day, it made it impossible to stack with a beauty break, GWP bag, or any of the lovely promotions Ulta is known for and deal lovers stack. None of these larger deals were available on the 30th, by design. Ulta is finally starting to clamp down on opportunities to combine offers. While it is still possible, it has become more difficult.
The 4oz Alterna Caviar Clinical Daily Root & Scalp Stimulator is something I’ve repurchased several times. It is a holy grail product of mine, because my scalp has not felt dry or tight since I started using it. I do still occasionally get dry scalp flakes, but they are less frequent since I started using this product. Even though I love it, I wanted to pay less than $36 for it. After my last purchase, I decided I will only purchase this during a 20% off sale. They happen 5 times a year, so that gives me plenty of opportunity to shop for it. This is the item I really needed in this order, because my current one will not last until the next 20% off sale.
I received a 0.25oz Alterna Oil Crème Pre-Shampoo Treatment with a $25 Alterna purchase. This is actually something I really want to try, so I will probably use this soon. Currently, I use an oil before washing when I feel I need a little extra assistance with my hair. That does not always wash away, which is good and bad depending on how much is left. A crème formula will probably wash out better than oil.
I received an email offering a free Dermalogica Skin Smoothing Cream sample. It did not require a purchase if picked up in person. From my experience, picking up free samples without a purchase in store is nearly impossible. Now matter how quickly I get there after receiving the email, my stores tell me they are out-of-stock. Unless I am already going to Ulta for another reason, I would never make a special trip to pick up a freebie. Thankfully, Ulta lets you add it to an online purchase, and I was already planning on making an online purchase anyway. The offer expired the day I redeemed this, 01/30/16.
It comes with a $5 Dermalogica moisturizer coupon and the sample sells for $5. What does this mean? If you’re planning on buying a Dermalogica moisturizer in the near future, buying this $5 sample will get you a $5 coupon back toward the brand plus a free sample (once you redeem the coupon). I do not feel inclined to purchase anything from Dermalogica, because I did not buy the sample. If you do buy the sample, try to redeem the coupon to get your money back.
The Urban Decay Gwen Stefani Blush Palette has six 0.09oz blushes. It retails for $45. Many claim this palette is perfect for fair to light skin tones. I definitely plan on testing that theory and will share my looks as I do, because the swatches look darker than I expected. Only one looks light and nearly blends in with my skin tone.
The outside of the palette, while beautiful, makes me think of an eyeshadow palette. I imagine the circles have powders that size underneath them, but they do not. It seems a little odd.
While 0.09oz is not large for a blush, it is decently sized for a blush inside a palette. After getting many that are the size of eyeshadows, I appreciate getting these which are big enough and spread far enough apart to stick a blush brush inside.
There is a beautiful mirror inside the package.
The colors inside look like they belong to a face palette instead of a blush palette. Lo Fi seems like an obvious bronzer and while Angel and Hush look like highlighters. When I try this palette, I plan on using each powder as a blush and how I think the powder will work best.
Cherry is a light pink satin.
This is a great natural pink for my skin tone. I love it. The powder only lasted 2-3 hours, which is my normal amount of wear.
Easy is a deep rose with gold shimmer.
I adore this shade with my skin tone. It gave me the epitome of rosy cheeks. The powder lasted about 3-4 hours, which is longer than most powder blushes last on me.
Angel is a champagne-nude shimmer.
Angel added very little color, which was expected from the swatch. I really think this will work better as a highlighter. This is what it looks like as a blush. Although the shimmer makes it obvious I am wearing it, the color is close to my natural skin color.
Lo-Fi is a soft bronze matte.
Lo-Fi used as a blush barley shows up on me, so I will try it as a bronzer next time. I was actually more impressed with the way Angel wore considering this swatch looked more vibrant. This did not even last 2 hours, so it was the fastest fading blush in the bunch.
Hush is a medium pink with gold shimmer.
This pink-gold shade actually makes a prettier blush than I imagined. It has just the right amount of pink and gold to give a beautiful warmth. This could probably double as a bronzer. It reminds me somewhat of Too Faced Pink Leopard Bronzer. The color lasted about three hours.
OC is soft pink with peach shift.
OC looked much better on than it did in the swatch. The orange color was actually flattering and warmed up my usually pink complexion. I liked it, but it only lasted around 2 hours.
On swatches alone, I liked all shades but OC. Lo-Fi looks a little more orange than I prefer in a blush or a bronzer. Angel is very close to my skin tone, but I think it would make a lovely gold highlighter.
If you are already planning your next 20% off purchase, I anticipate it will arrive on 04/03/16 or 04/10/16. It arrived on 04/05/15 last year, which was the day after the 21 Days of Beauty wrapped. With the leap year, the event would start and wrap two days earlier this year if Ulta sticks to the same schedule. Ulta may start the Days of Beauty or the 20% off purchase a little later this year to have it reach deeper into April.
I will continue to post offers I am aware of, so no worries if you happen upon this post after the offers above expire. If you have questions about any Ulta Coupon, I go over all types. I'm Kimberly. Shopping is always more fun when I've found the best deal available, so I am always on the hunt. My father instilled that in me, and I love that I carry a piece of him. Sometimes, my husband and sons (12 and 7) let me shop for them, too. They do not use as many beauty products as I do. We can all benefit from nice products, even though their routine ends with moisturizer. That is when I can convince my 12-year-old to apply it.
