Birchbox Man Box Review February 2016

See all Birchbox Man articles.

Birchbox Man gives at least four grooming samples a month $20. The price is double the Woman’s box, because of the added lifestyle item, which usually retails for over $20 by itself. As long as the lifestyle item is something you’d want, you should always get your investment back. You will get an email reminding you to select your lifestyle item. Respond as soon as you can, because the more desirable lifestyle items can go out-of-stock. All grooming samples are chosen based on the answers to your online profile questions. For every review on an item received in your box, you get 10 points, which is equal to $1 in the shop. A five item box, like this one, gets my husband $5 back.

The theme for this month is Life Hacks. It arrived in the standard boring brown box.

The first thing you notice when you open a box is a card going over the box theme.

The sample choice was between: Hammak Boxer Briefs ($22), an OCD Experience Leather RFID Wallet ($42.99), or a two sample bundle including: Murchison-Hume Garmet Groom Stain Remover ($6) and Wurkin Stiffs Stiff N Stays ($25). There was no featured box this month.

The 0.24oz Lab Series Max LS Power V Lifting Lotion is worth $11.01. My husband laughed and asked what a lifting lotion is. I told him it is an anti-aging moisturizer. He actually has a bad memory, because I bought him a full-sized Lab Series Skincare for Men Max LS Age-Less Face Cream a couple of years ago after he loved a sample I gave him. That is an anti-aging moisturizer from the same brand, so there is a good chance he will like this.

The 0.25oz Blackbird Transparent Shave is worth $3.50. This oil preps the face for shaving. He will put it on right after cleansing. It works with shaving cream or alone.

The 0.07oz Montale Santal Wood is worth $4.94. It has crisp top notes of seawater and juniper that give way to a warm heart of sandalwood before landing on a fresh, woodsy base of oak moss. Who writes that stuff! My prediction is he will not like this one. He is generally not into woodsy scents, but I will edit this if I am wrong.

The 0.5oz MALIN+GOETZ clarifying clay mask is worth $7.06. He laughed at this one as well. It seems like he is having a really hard time getting into anything that is not basic skincare. That said, he has not canceled the subscription yet, so I think he enjoys trying new things more than he lets on. I cannot remember for sure, but I think he’s used masks before.

The Hammak Basic Boxer Briefs retails for $22. This was his sample choice. He loves trying new underwear and already loves these. After feeling how soft they were, he insisted I feel them. That is a good sign. His only complaint, which will keep these from being worn outside the house, is there is no opening. Men on the go would rather not drop their pants at a urinal.

The box has a $48.51 value. His personal value is also $48.51, because will try everything in the box. I know he wants to try all the items, because I volunteered to take the moisturizer and clay mask when he made fun of them, but he politely declined my request. If you want to subscribe, remember to look at start-up offers and all available offers. When you’re ready to spend your rewards points, remember to add your free two piece sample pack when spending $35 from the Bonus Shop. See other Birchbox Subscription articles. I'm Kimberly. Shopping is always more fun when I've found the best deal available, so I am always on the hunt. My father instilled that in me, and I love that I carry a piece of him. Sometimes, my husband and sons (12 and 7) let me shop for them, too. They do not use as many beauty products as I do. We can all benefit from nice products, even though their routine ends with moisturizer. That is when I can convince my 12-year-old to apply it.

Deal or No Deal? What Do You Think?
