I love trying new things. When I qualified for the Pumpkin Voxbox. When fall comes, I get excited to partake in as many pumpkin flavored treats as possible. This year, I may have already gained a pound or two from all the treats. Sadly, there were no actual pumpkin treats inside the Pumpkin VoxBox. Whoever named it either did so to tease me or the pumpkin item that was coming fell through, and they ran with the name. Regardless, it was a nice box, so I am not complaining.

A product card describing the item is always inside. The card usually provides tips and other pertintent information needed to get started with the product.

I usually like when boxes also include coupons. If I love the item, a coupon to repurchase it is always appreciated. One coupon here is traditional. The other two are full redemption coupons. These come when an item you’re meant to sample is perishable. A coupon (or redemption certificate) will take the full price off (up to a certain amount so retailers do not have to reimburse inflated prices). From my experience, these certificates usually cover the full cost.

The coupon for a free Alexia frozen side covered the entire cost of the product. It took me a while to find this, because none of the stores near me carry this brand. I selected Crispy Rosemary fries, because it was the item from three I thought my family would enjoy most. This was a little disappointing. If you’ve ever bitten into an odd tasting fry, you will not like these.

My husband has no clue what I am referring to when I tell him there is a rogue odd fry mixed into my fries. It happens from time to time with almost every place that sells fries. You’ll be eating and they all taste great, then suddenly you eat one that tastes off. A lot of these have that off taste, which happened too many times as I was eating these. While this could have been an unusually bad bag, I have never tasted that many off fries in a single batch.

The ones that were not rogue tasted fine. They were far from the worst or far from the best I’ve ever tried. I liked the rosemary addition which was faint enough that I could still add a little salt to these. My first batch from this bag was crispier than my second. We cooked a much smaller batch the first time, so I do suggest cooking these in smaller batches to get a crispier result.

The coupon for Yucatan Guacamole also covered the entire cost of the product. Like the Alexia frozen size, it took me a while to find this, because none of my nearby stores carry the brand. My avocado allergy I had as a kid may have resurfaced recently, so I did not not eat the guacamole. Thankfully, my husband sampled it for me. He was very unimpressed with this and says it is very bland.

The discount coupon may actually be used. My older son claimed the Mr. Sketch Scented Marker and says he likes it. My sense of smell is pretty good, and I do not really notice much of a scent. I am curious to see if we got a dud or if the new one will have the same almost non-existent scent. If I buy one, I will report back on how that goes. This marker writes just fine. It is a yellow-orange, so it reminds me of a highlighter. When I colored over print in a magazine, it did not function like a highlighter. This covers the print as much as an orange-yellow marker can cover black print.

Werther’s Original Soft Caramels are so delicious. I forgot how much I loved these until the sample arrived. My intent was to save one for my husband, because he loves caramels, too. After both of my boys tried and wasted one, I decided to show them what they were missing by eating them in front of them only to discover I could not stop and ate them all. Luckily, the bag was not too big. Unluckily, my husband missed out. If by some chance you love caramel and have never tried these before, you simply must! Send one to my husband, because I do not think he will get any of the bag I am about to buy either.

The Pop Chips Sea Salt Potato were right up my husband’s alley, so I made it up to him for eating all the caramels. He loves really hard chips where I prefer mine light and airy. I also prefer my food with less salt, and he loves salt. After eating one hard, salty chip, I knew he would love them, and he did. These are tasty, so I like them. Unless they’re deli fresh hard chips, I will always opt for soft chips preventing me from loving these or any similar style.

The Ultra Downy April Fresh Fabric Softener smells amazing. I remember when I regularly used fabric softener. It was almost always Downy. When Tide invented the pods, which are an all-in-one, I ditched the fabric softener. Even though it includes a stain remove, I still add a Tide Boost to every load. My family is messy, present company not excluded. If I can add a separate item full or stain remover, why not try the separate fabric softener, too. There was really no other choice short of buying regular detergent just to test this, because I only buy the pods and the boosts.

It turned out fine. I always liked the way Downy and Tide complemented each other, and I think they’ve paired up to make items meaning they get it, too. My laundry was softer and smelled better. I’m convinced it is not overkill, and I will add this fabric softener back into my routine. Of course, I will check the store to see if they have pods.

I wonder if the three different flavors of goodnessknows snack squares were present in the different boxes. My box had peach, cherry, almond, and dark chocolate. These are all flavors I love individually, but I never would have thought of putting them together. There are four little squares inside the package. They blend together beautifully. The fruits have a slightly tart taste that is balanced well by the almonds and dark chocolate. This is a delicious bar. While browsing recently, I saw a coupon for these bars. I will redeem the coupon to try the other two kinds.

I enjoyed everything I’ve tried so far, and I hope the two remaining things go well. Even if they’re flops, I will enjoy the opportunity to try them. It is better to try new things when there is no risk of loss. The two items I’ve used in the past were ones I already love, so I liked having more. If you love trying new things, and who does not love free things, sign up for Influenster and get started. I'm Kimberly. Shopping is always more fun when I've found the best deal available, so I am always on the hunt. My father instilled that in me, and I love that I carry a piece of him. Sometimes, my husband and sons (12 and 7) let me shop for them, too. They do not use as many beauty products as I do. We can all benefit from nice products, even though their routine ends with moisturizer. That is when I can convince my 12-year-old to apply it.

Deal or No Deal? What Do You Think?
