You’ve banked a lot of points at Birchbox. What should you spend them on? There are thousands of great items in the store. If you’re a subscriber, you’ve probably even sampled some gems you could buy. I like to use my points to purchase more boxes. The Limited edition boxes, in particular. The Birchbox + babyGAP Limited Edition Box called to me. It has some awesome beauty products I look forward to trying. The items least useful to me are also the cutest items in the box, the bodysuits. At the time I ordered this on 03/23/15, my youngest was almost four. We had no immediate plans to have a baby of our own either. I knew there was a possibility we could try for another kid down the road. My thoughts were if I order this and we never have another baby, I can gift the onesies to any of the hundreds of people in our lives. Someone is always pregnant.
The box retailed for $48. February 2015 was the 13th anniversary of my box, so I received a special code for 25% off, 13MONTHS25. Birchbox codes are always available, but you can only use that one if your subscription is over 13 months old and have not redeemed it yet. I was also able to add a free Thank You keychain to my cart. Any time your order is over $35, always remember to go to the bonus shop to add your free 2 piece sample pack. If you add it on an order over $35, it will deduct the $10 charge. My total for everything in this article was $6 thanks to $30 in points, the 25% off code, the free keychain offer, getting the $10 deducted from the sample pack, and having free Ace shipping.
The babyGAP Personalities Bodysuits, sleepy, happy, and hungry are probably worth $12.95 each. These specific ones are specific to Birchbox, which was another reason to order them. There are similar ones listed for this price though. They are relatively thick and well made. These are not the ones you buy in a pack of 3-5 for $10.
The 2oz amika Nourishing Mask retails at Birchbox for $10. I love trying new masks, and I have yet to find my perfect one.
The 1.7oz Whish Three Whishes Body Butter Lavender is worth $8.16. A body cream that costs what a hand cream does better work amazingly well. I love the shave cream, so I have high hopes for the body butter.
The 1oz suki exfoliate foaming cleanser is worth $8.24. It will be interesting to see how an exfoliate foams. With my sensitive skin, I like testing exfoliants. Finding a decent priced one that does not give me a rash is the challenge.
The 2oz Soap and Paper Factory Farmacie Hand Cream in Candula is full-sized. It retails for $16. My hands are the driest hands on the planet, so I love trying new hand creams. This smelled fresh and was very moisturizing without being greasy at all. It is a great hand cream. I just opened it when the weather changed. It was hot outside until about three days ago.
The 1.5oz Not Soap, Radio Body Wash- To sleep full of sweet dreams (without waking up in a mad panic at 3am) is worth $1.76. The Not Soap, Radio products have the cutest names ever, albeit very long. This smells dreamy, so I cannot wait to see how it performs. I am a fan of Not Soap Radio, and think the one included in this box is perfect. I have not tried this one yet.
The 0.17oz W3ll People Bio Extreme Lipgloss in Berry is full-sized. It retails for $23.50. I like the color even with the gold flecks. Natural brands have been really high on my radar lately. Chemicals do not scare me, but adding items without them cannot be bad, right? This smells and tastes like mint. It is not an overpowering mint, but the mint is in there. If you cannot tolerate mint, avoid this gloss. I actually like a little mint in gloss because it feels fresh and cool. The gloss wears much more naturally than it swatches. Coverage is probably buildable if you want a little more pop. It lasts as long as a normal gloss. On a scale of 1-5, this is about 1.5 in stickiness, which is acceptable for me.
Thanks to the special keychain I got three freebies instead of the usual two. The Women’s Thank You Key Chain is worth $15. It is pretty and made of leather, so the list price is probably around the value.
Lord & Berry Pailettes Eye Pencil is something I already owned, so I swatched mine to keep this sample new. The retail on this eye pencil fluctuates big time based on where you purchase it, so I am using the $18 Birchbox price. This sample is worth $4.50. The slight shimmer provided from the glitter is barely noticeable on my eyes (like the gold flecks almost disappear in the lip gloss above). I am not a fan of this eyeliner at all. It scratched me as I applied it, because it was too rough. The line was not smooth and skipped all across my eyes. Add that to the fact that it was hard to build pigment and I have very shaky hands. Do not buy this eyeliner ever. Unless you get it for free, avoid it!
I worried theBalm Staniac was bad, because it was very thick and almost jelly like. My Internet search yielded similar pictures, so I assumed the product was fine. The color is such a beautiful pink that almost looks red in the container. You can see a bit of red tones in it. Most cheek products fade on my quickly. This lasted a little longer than others on my cheeks, but the formula in the sample withered up and dried out quickly. I received a full-sized version of this many months later, and it arrived in a nicer looking condition. Hopefully, the full size does not fare as poorly. If it does, I will try to come back and edit this if I remember.
This gave me a total of 3-4 uses before all the product withered up and dried out. Pictures of two occasions are below. It gives a nice pinkish flush. I would never wear this on my lips due to the weird consistency of the sample. Maybe, I will try the full-sized version on my lips down the road as long as it does not look the way this one did by the time I attempt it. The 0.04oz sample was worth $2.27.
This box cost $48 and has a value of $106.51. It sold out faster than any other box I’ve noticed. With the sample pack and free keychain, the value of my order is $128.28. Considering I paid $6 for everything (no tax), I am happy. If you missed this box, do not fret. Birchbox constantly releases limited edition boxes worth picking up. I'm Kimberly. Shopping is always more fun when I've found the best deal available, so I am always on the hunt. My father instilled that in me, and I love that I carry a piece of him. Sometimes, my husband and sons (13 and 8) let me shop for them, too. They do not use as many beauty products as I do. We can all benefit from nice products, even though their routine ends with moisturizer. That is when I can convince my 13-year-old to apply it.
