2016 Event- The Gorgeous Hair Event for Spring 2016 is May 8th-28th.
The semi-annual Love Your Hair Event at Ulta starts today and runs through the 24th. This is to hair what the 21 Days of Beauty is to skincare and makeup. Have you ever noticed there are not many deals for hair products during the Days of Beauty! It is because they’re saved for this event. My catalog arrived on the 1st, and I looked through it to see if there was anything I had to have. There are too many deals for me to list, but I posted standouts from the catalog to my Ulta Promo Page. Most steals posted in the special section of the Ulta site, so be sure to study it to plan your purchases.
I took advantage of a few deals during the spring event across two orders, and I already shared the first order. In that article, I lay down some of the basics. Other important notes I’ve mentioned in the 21 Days of Beauty Shopping Plan will help with this event, so I will re-post them here. The second order, below, is lucrative as well.
I highly recommend studying the brochure, which is also online. UltaMate members should also get a physical copy in the mail. It is a good idea to plan your purchases ahead of time, so you are ready to strike the moment the deal releases. Ulta runs on Central time, so daily steals are available right at 10pm PST. That usually means steals from the previous day disappear at 10pm, so do not plan to place an order right before bed time if you’re on the West Coast. While the deals have run a little over, Ulta has also cut them off right on time. Some deals sell out quickly, so waiting may not work anyway. The best deals are usually gone when you wake up in the morning from people who started shopping right as the day switched over.
If a steal is releasing on a Wednesday, there is a good chance you can get a Beauty Break with your steal. People familiar with Ulta’s promotions may already know that most Wednesday mornings will bring a Beauty Break. For those who are unaware, the Beauty Break is a gift with a specified minimum on a general purchase available for 4-6 hours. You can also visit my retailer page to see an up to date program description. The Beauty Break is not announced until the morning, so you have to decide if you want to risk losing the steal by waiting for the Beauty Break. It is a risk that may or may not pay off. There are a lot of people with this strategy, but the better deals are usually gone very early in the morning even though everyone knows it is a Beauty Break day.
My 05/22/15 order did not include a Beauty Break, but it did include two general gifts with purchase, and a brand specific one. Ulta is generous with gifts. Always look through the gifts with purchase section of the site plus the pay to shop site you are clicking through with. Affiliates sometimes get exclusive offers I do not get, so never rely on one source for all of your deals. The general gifts were both listed on the Ulta site for this order.
Ulta also assigns regular point multipliers and usually notifies you about them via email. They can sometimes be very small blurbs that you can miss if you blink. Before you place an order, get into the habit of checking the rewards section of your account. You can activate any offers you’ve received from there. It should also list any offers you’ve activated, so make sure it went through. This order qualified for 2x points.
Ulta usually ships everything together, but it did separate my order this time. One of the specials during the sale was 2 for $20 shampoo and conditioners. I’ve had great luck with Tigi in the past, so I decided to try S Factor Stunning Volume Shampoo and Conditioner. The S-Factor series is the most expensive per ounce shampoo and conditioner in the line, and usually out of my budget. Seeing it included in the 2 for $20 sale, when they retail for $29.99 and $31.99 each was a deal too good for me to pass up. You cannot pick your samples, but you can pick your sample category from skincare, variety, or fragrance. None of the samples in the variety or skincare packs impressed me lately, so I opted for the fragrance sampler.
I received a 0.05oz Juicy Couture Viva La Juicy Noir and a 0.06oz Dolce & Gabbana The One for men. Neither inspired me or my husband, so we have not tried them yet. Once we do, I will come back and edit this article.
The Ulta Romance Whipped Luxe Body Creams looked interesting, but they seemed overpriced for a store brand. At $14.50 for 8oz, that makes them $1.81 an ounce. That puts the store brand in midrange pricing territory. When I saw they were buy one, get one 50% off and could be combined with a $5 off $15 Ulta branded coupon, I decided the deal was good enough for me to try them out. I selected Sweet Fantasy and Dreamy Love. These are the types of creams I use in the winter, so I have not tried them yet.
Matrix Biolage Hydrasource is not my favorite, but I am a fan. The Platinum Steal this day was 50% off Matrix. There was also a Matrix brand specific GWP for a 2.2oz Style Link Volume Builder Mousse. I usually do not go for mousse, but I thought it could be fun to pair a volumizing shampoo and conditioner with a volumizing mousse to see if I can get my hair Texas big. Unless I receive a mousse in a gift, I cannot see myself buying one. Thus, I decided to take advantage of the deal getting liter sized bottles for $11.50 and $13 respectively.
Exuviance is still a relatively new brand to me, but I am enjoying exploring it so far. This Exuviance gift with purchase included: Glycolic Expert Moisturizer, Purifying Cleansing Gel, Purifying Clay Masque, and Antioxidant Perfect 10 Serum. I have not tried any of them yet, but I look forward to trying them all.
One of the things I love about Ulta is GWP offers are stackable. There were two general gifts available when I placed this order. The 4 piece Exuviance gift was available with a $40 purchase, and the 3 piece Michael Kors gift was available with a $50 purchase. Most retailers make you choose one offer or the other. Ulta is one of the rare retailers that allows you to load any gift your purchase qualifies for and one applicable coupon code.
The Michael Kors gift was actually five pieces, because there were three unique scents inside the fragrance box. It includes: Glam Jasmine, SEXY Amber, Sporty Citrus, Sporty Lip Lacquer in Dame, and Sport Sexy Glam Nail Lacquer Audition. There were three choices for the Michael Kors gift. Each offered a different nail polish and lipstick. I selected this combo, because I loved the dark lippie with the coral polish.
Sporty Citrus was pleasant and clean smelling, but it did not last long. After 2-3 hours, I could no longer smell it. On a scale of 1 to 10, I’d give it a 6.
Glam Jasmine was slightly less impressive. It thankfully did not smell overly floral, but it faded in less than 2 hours. The smell was nothing remarkable or terrible, so I’d rate it 5 out of 10.
Sexy Amber is nicer than Glam Jasmine but not as nice as Sporty Citrus, so I have to rate it 5.5 out of 10. The scent was still present at the 3 hour mark, so it has longer wear than the other two. It smelled mature but stopped short of smelling like an old lady.
Dame is the full-size 0.11oz product, but it is somewhat disappointing. This deep red with red flecks wears more like a wine. The packaging is beautiful if you’re into opulent gold. I forgot to take a picture, but I did wear it recently. It has a patchy application, which I blame on the amount of glitter in the product. When Ulta listed this, neither the picture nor description hinted me to the fact that it would apply sheer. There was not a lot of information about the product either, and even Ulta does not carry it. With limited information available, I judged it based on looks. That is why I prefer to see swatches or looks before I buy makeup, so I am glad this was a GWP. It was moisturizing and felt great on my lips. Wear lasted about three hours. I was able to blend it, sheering it a bit as it faded. Then, it looked decent and not patchy. The trick to wearing this is do not wear it full-force.
Audition made up for some of Dame’s shortcomings making me feel good about the colors I selected. This coral polish is more beautiful in person than it presented onscreen. The gold is still present here, but the way it sits on top of the beautifully displayed coral polish is actually stunning. It is one of the prettiest nail polish bottles I own, and I own a lot of nail polish. I cannot attest for how long it wears, because I have not worn it yet. Application was easy, but I needed three coats for full pigment. As beautiful as it is, I am reluctant to buy polishes that are this thin. Thus far, I am not overly impressed with the Michael Kors color line. At 0.3oz, this nail polish is full-size. Compare this to my other coral and orange polishes.
If you’re planning on partaking in any of the deals that have already been advertised, I do recommend getting a list together. It is better not to purchase them all at once if you plan on purchasing a lot to spread the items out over multiple orders and taking advantage of as many deals and gifts as possible. Also remember not to wait too long to take advantage of deals, because the better ones will sell out. Study Ulta’s event section and keep an eye out for special one day only steals announced along the way.
I will continue to post offers I am aware of, so no worries if you happen upon this post after the offers above expire. If you have questions about any Ulta Coupon, I go over all types. Targeted Offers are exclusive to UltaMate Members, so I do recommend joining. New members get $10 of their first purchase with a referral. Remember to check all Ulta offers before placing an online order, because there are always general or brand specific offers that are not targeted. Deal stacking is not only allowed, it’s encouraged. My Verdict: Deal

I'm Kimberly. Shopping is always more fun when I've found the best deal available, so I am always on the hunt. My father instilled that in me, and I love that I carry a piece of him. Sometimes, my husband and sons (12 and 7) let me shop for them, too. They do not use as many beauty products as I do. We can all benefit from nice products, even though their routine ends with moisturizer. That is when I can convince my 12-year-old to apply it.
