Welcome back to the year of Birchbox gifting. This is the year I decided to send all the women in my immediate family three-month Birchbox gift subscription for their birthdays. On 04/26/15, I ordered a subscription for my step-sister-in-law, who was about to turn 26. I selected 06/14/15 for her ship date, because her actual birthday was two months away. The box she received had more to do with the ship date than the order date.
I redeemed $10 in points and ordered this for $20 from my second account using the code 100FORME, which I already used on my primary account and my third account. At this point, I was already aware I would only get 70 bonus points. The concept of this code is you get 100 points if you pay $30.
You cannot count points toward your discount as you earn and redeem, so I will only count them as I redeem. That means the $7 I get back on this order will be used on a future order just as the $10 I applied on this order was earned on past orders. Seeing what comes in their welcome boxes, which are never customized to a profile, would be fun for me and hopefully helpful to someone thinking of purchasing a gift subscription for a family member or a first subscription for herself.
The picture is a little blurry, but I’ve made a point of not asking anyone for replacement pictures. It is fun (for me) to see how they choose to present their boxes. I like that she posed hers on top of her box. That was different.
The Beauty Protector Protect & Oil is something I look forward to trying, and I’ve luckily received some of these. Once I try mine, I will report back on how it goes. Anything that can help my frizzy hair is worth a shot.
The Whish Shave Crave Shaving Cream in Blueberry gives a close shave, and I like having minis to take with me when I travel. A little of this shave cream goes a long way, so a mini will get me through a trip. This scent is one of the nicer ones in the line, too.
I have slightly mixed feelings about theBalm Staniac, because I previously received a less than stellar sample of this from Birchbox (article coming). Then, I received a new full-sized one that looked healthy and not at all the same. Hopefully, her sample is closer to what I received in my Gym Heroes Box. It is such a beautiful pink that almost looks red in the container. You can see a bit of red tones in it. Most cheek products fade on my quickly. This lasted a little longer than others on my cheeks, but the formula in the sample withered up and dried out quickly.
I’m unsure how similar this Coola Face SPF 30 Unscented Matte Tint is to the Coola Mineral Sunscreen Natural BB Cream. If they are similar at all, I have a feeling she will like this. So far, I’ve loved every Coola product I’ve tried.
This Klorane Floral Water Makeup-Remover with Soothing Cornflower is something I really want to try, so I hope this sample finds its way to me someday. Maybe, I can drop Birchbox some hints.
All of her items look exciting to me. Some may wonder why I am offering my opinion on her items instead of getting her own. The reason is I did not want the gifts burden her, so I did not want to have her tell me what she thought of each one. On that note, I also refrained from asking her for the size of the items. Anyone who reads my personal box reviews knows I break down the value of the samples, and I will still do that for my boxes.
The welcome boxes usually do not take the beauty profiles into account, so I also did not feel it was necessary to ask my gift recipients a bunch of questions to see why they got the welcome box they did. I am not sharing any of their boxes that take their profile into account. Again, this is to let them enjoy their gifts without me bothering them. My boxes are pretty good, so I have not touched my settings in a while. I will be more than happy to share my settings on my box for people who want to tinker with theirs.
I answer more questions regarding the program if you want more details on how it works. You can review other welcome boxes I’ve sent and received this year. Ready to send a Gift Subscription? I'm Kimberly. Shopping is always more fun when I've found the best deal available, so I am always on the hunt. My father instilled that in me, and I love that I carry a piece of him. Sometimes, my husband and sons (12 and 7) let me shop for them, too. They do not use as many beauty products as I do. We can all benefit from nice products, even though their routine ends with moisturizer. That is when I can convince my 12-year-old to apply it.
