I love collecting the Julep birthstones, so I collect them all and not just my birthstone. Being back on track was nice. At this point, I had not discovered the issue with March polish, so I thought I was back to business as usual. That means ordering the birthstone for the current month as soon as I remember after the secret store closes. Some may want to order this the first day of the month when it opens up in the secret store to get it before it sells out. The problem is they charge the full $11.20 Maven price in the secret store, and promo codes do not apply.
If you wait it out a little, even the colors that sell out will usually return. It can take some time though (looking at you, March). As a Maven, I get free shipping with every order, so I could order the birthstone each month and call it a day. That is not my style though, because I live for a deal. Mavens get offer codes in each box (that I will always share with you here as long as Julep allows me to share it).
I had a code, although I cannot find a record of what it was, that brought $15 off. This order is from 05/06/15. Julep codes are only good for 1-2 months, so even if I remembered the one I used here, it expired.
Some of you may remember my tip to add anything you like that’s on sale to your wish list. Items stay on sale at times, but they cannot be searched at times. These are savvy deals or specials. If there is an item in your wish list and it is in stock, you will always be able to add it. Assuming the item is still on sale, the discount will be automatically applied when you add it to your cart. There is a good chance that it will still be on sale, so check.
The item for me was the Fa La La Trio. It graced my wish list for a long time waiting for something to purchase it with. Nothing else I saw at the time was speaking to me, and all three colors in this set were new to me. As my collection grows larger, it is getting hard to find a set with at least one polish I do not already own. Getting the polish at $3.33 each is already a deal, but it blew me away that the code worked with the deal. Usually when items are on sale like this, the code will not work. Julep probably really wanted to clear these to allow the code to combine.
Cher, the May birthstone gets its name from the pop singer with the unknown last name. I always think of Clueless when I think of Cher, but that character leads back to the same person anyway. Cher mentions in clueless she got her name from an 80s icon who now does infomercials. This emerald iridescent shimmer is a striking green. Compare this to my other green polishes.
Charisma is a ruby-red shimmer, and she is such a beautiful color. This name reminds me of my friend’s precocious daughter and Cordelia from Buffy the Vampire Slayer, because that was her real name. Compare this to my other red polishes.
Winnie is a rose-gold metallic. I love all things rose-gold, so I wanted this polish. This is probably my favorite nail polish color on the planet (not Winnie in particular, but rose-gold). When I read this name, I think of the Wonder Years and of course Pooh. Compare this to my other copper and bronze polishes.
Margot is an Old Hollywood gold shimmer. This is the one I was least looking forward to, because I have a lot of gold and rarely wear it. She’s still a looker, so the weakest polish in an incredible set can still be winner. While Margot is a beautiful name, this is also the only polish from the order where I do not immediately picture someone I know or someone from pop culture. Compare this to my other yellow and gold polishes.
My birthstone collection consists of January 2014-August 2015, although I plan to replace March 2015 as soon as possible. As long as I am a Maven and can collect the polishes in order, I will continue to collect the birthstones. If you have not already taken a look, I highly suggest you do.

I'm Kimberly. Shopping is always more fun when I've found the best deal available, so I am always on the hunt. My father instilled that in me, and I love that I carry a piece of him. Sometimes, my husband and sons (12 and 7) let me shop for them, too. They do not use as many beauty products as I do. We can all benefit from nice products, even though their routine ends with moisturizer. That is when I can convince my 12-year-old to apply it.
