FabuFinds: Product Spotlight August 2015

Every month, I review my empty products. Some products are not worth thinking about once the month is over. Others are so wonderful and seem like they’re made for me. Those are FabuFinds, and I generally like to devote a little more time to discussing them. They are items I have repurchased and will continue to repurchase even at full price if I could not find a good promo code.

To eventually spotlight all of my FabuFinds, I will never repeat items already mentioned in a past article. That does not mean they lost their magic. It is also possible an item not spotlighted in a past Empties article may get promoted as I try it more and fall deeper in love. Other times, it is because I had a lot of FabuFinds in a previous month and had to condense the article. There were six products I consider FabuFinds in my August Empties I have not discussed yet.

Influenster sent this Dessange Paris California Blonde Illuminating Conditioner gratis for me to sample. I love when I sample a free item that I end up loving. Loving something I may never have discovered without the sample feels like more of a win. Thanks to coupons and Cartwheel promotions, it is easy to find this on sale. This conditioned very well for a medium density product. It worked well with the respective shampoo to soften and reduce frizz.

When I first used Bliss Hot Salt Scrub with Rosemary + Eucalyptus, I had mixed feelings. It left my skin incredibly soft, and there was not a dry patch in sight. The problem was it was so rough that my entire body turned red, and it stayed that way for hours. Salt scrubs go on dry skin. That means you need more product to work it in. More product equals more rubbing, which equals too much friction. If your skin is not sensitive, by all means apply this to dry skin. My skin is too sensitive for that, but I did not want to sacrifice the incredibly soft skin I have yet to discover with any other product.

If you use this while the shower water is running, it will rinse off before you can rub it in rendering the product almost useless. My answer was to turn the water on and rinse my body first. Once my body is wet, I turn the shower off. This softens the product slightly but does not rinse it all away. The smell is strong and not one I am fond of, so I cleanse my skin with a gentle soap after applying this exfoliant and the smell does not linger. I tend to cleanse my skin with gentle soap after every exfoliant, so while I would prefer a scent I enjoyed more, the scent will never be a deal breaker.

When you rinse your body first, you will use more product. It is actually only slightly more, because wetting it allows the product to move a little better. Some dissolves the moment it hits wet skin, but the product that does not dissolve moves around better making it easier to blend than when working it into dry skin. The best part of this technique is my skin is just as soft as when I apply this dry without looking like a tomato for hours.

My scalp is dry and tight. While researching products to help, I discovered Alterna Daily Root & Scalp Stimulator. This helps remove build up and provides some relief. Before I started using this, my scalp was always flaky. Since I started using it, I get flakes less often. Using a lot of products in my hair is okay as long as they are not building up on my scalp. I loved it so much I reviewed it continue to repurchase. The review still holds true, so I will let it do the talking.

This Ole Henriksen Ultimate Lift Eye Gel is an eye lift in a jar just as it claims. I can see instant affects every time I use this. It is another product I loved so much that I reviewed. If you have not tried it since the reformulation in the summer of 2014, I highly suggest you try it. While the old formula was nice, the new one is incredible. They smell different, too, so if you are not overwhelmed by cucumbers when you open the jar, you probably have the old formula that contained them on a smaller scale. Everything I wrote in this review still holds true, so I will let the review do the talking here as well.

I discovered H2o+ softening mint Foot Rub on a stay at The Grand Floridian Hotel. It is very soothing on tired feet. When your feet are not overly tired, you may not notice the mint at work. After a long theme park day, it is so relaxing. This is not as moisturizing as the June Jacobs foot cream I love, but it is more soothing. If I am going somewhere with a lot of walking, I want this with me. At home when I am not doing a ton of walking, I prefer a foot cream a little more moisturizing. Each foot cream serves its purpose, so it is good to keep one that is soothing and one that is moisturizing on hands. Even with my OCD, I am able to have different types open at once.

Too Faced Endless Summer (discontinued) is a fabulous color on me. It looks natural and is not orange at all. Although it does not last 16 hours on me, it does seem to fade slower than most other bronzers. For a brand known for bronzers, this is my favorite so far. Considering I love a few of them, I see why they earned the reputation. This may work on darker skin with a heavy hand, but I like that it is not too dark for my skin when I want my bronzer to really show.

I'm Kimberly. Shopping is always more fun when I've found the best deal available, so I am always on the hunt. My father instilled that in me, and I love that I carry a piece of him. Sometimes, my husband and sons (12 and 7) let me shop for them, too. They do not use as many beauty products as I do. We can all benefit from nice products, even though their routine ends with moisturizer. That is when I can convince my 12-year-old to apply it.

Deal or No Deal? What Do You Think?
