Every month, I review my empty products. Some products are not worth thinking about once the month is over. Others are so wonderful and seem like they’re made for me. Those are FabuFinds, and I generally like to devote a little more time to discussing them. They are items I have repurchased and will continue to repurchase even at full price if I could not find a good promo code.
To eventually spotlight all of my FabuFinds, I will never repeat items already mentioned in a past article. That does not mean they lost their magic. It is also possible an item not spotlighted in a past Empties article may get promoted as I try it more and fall deeper in love. Other times, it is because I had a lot of FabuFinds in a previous month and had to condense the article. July brought so many lovely items but for the sake of not spotlighting too many, I will narrow the list down to seven I have not discussed yet.
I discovered H2o+ at Disney and have explored the brand on a deeper level since. There are a lot of gems in the line, but some are better than others. H2o+ Targeted Care Pumice Foot Scrub is one of my favorites. This has a scrubbing and soothing effect. I ran out of hand scrub one day and decided I could use this on my hands. No, you cannot. My hands tingled, not in a good way, for hours. The skin on my feet is thick enough that they do not tingle but actually feel relieved. When my feet got cracked from this L’Occitane foot cream, I started using this everyday. This combined with adding Egyptian Magic helped a lot. No more cracks. Prior to the cracks, I only used it once or twice a week.
The scrub is relatively thick but not overly abrasive, so I use it on the top of my feet where the skin is not as thick. It makes the top so soft and helps smooth out the bottom. Whenever I use this before buffing, it always seems like I have a lot less dead skin as well. I like that it does not have a strong smell, which happens with some peppermint items. Although, if I was going to put something with a strong smell on, I cannot think of a better place than my feet. Smelling is my strongest sense, and my feet are far from my nose.
I inherited weak enamel that decays easily and stains. Most teeth whiteners do not whiten dental work, and I have a crown and many fillings. This means my teeth look different colors when my natural teeth whiten and the fillings stay off white. It also means I will probably never have bright white teeth. There is not a whitener on the market strong enough to bleach everything I have going on. Go Smile Teeth Whitening Gel comes close to being perfect, because it is one of the few whitening gels that actually whitens teeth with fillings.
There are so many whitening formulas that burn my mouth and gums so badly that I cannot keep them on for the recommended amount of time, and my gums hurt for days afterward. My gums are more sensitive than most, so others may not have this experience. The formula does not bother my sensitive at all. Nothing I have ever tried feels as gentle as toothpaste. On a 1 to 10 scale of how uncomfortable this makes my teeth feel, I’d rate it a 2 to 2.5 depending on the day. It is completely tolerable, because I have tried a few 8s and 9s. This formula is gentle, so it will not aggressively whiten teeth the way the strong formulas do. That lack of abrasion means they get less white, but the difference is big enough for me to feel it is worth it. With regular use, you can see 4-5 shades lighter. If you’re looking for something stronger and can handle more abrasive formulas, a professional treatment at the dentist can whiten teeth about 10 shades. I was only able to endure that once though.
When you have weak enamel, you cannot forget to floss daily. Skip one day and the buildup is difficult to remove on the second day. My teeth are tight, so there is not a lot of space between each one. That makes flossing harder than it is for people with loose teeth. It also means cheap floss gets stuck in your teeth and feels like nails on a chalkboard to remove. My skin crawls as I remove floss that gets stuck. Since I discovered this Oral B Pro Glide floss, it has never gotten stuck in my teeth once. Some flosses taste like you’re feasting on a candle or a bad mint candy. This one has almost no taste at all. I always buy these in bulk from Sam’s Club, because I have no problem using a six-pack in about a year.
When it comes to mud masks, GlamGlow is near the top of the game. Youthmud is my favorite facial mask (so far, because I have not yet tried Flash Mud). As much as I love it, I am unsure I’d make it a FabuFind. GlamGlow Bright Mud is a mask for eyes, and this is a huge FabuFind. It is a little expensive, but I do purchase it from Sephora when the store goes on sale to soften the blow a little. They’re designed to use one side on each eye, but I find one side is enough for both eyes. That makes one pod good for two uses. It also means that the package, which has 12 chrome cells, gives me 24 uses. Each mask is $2.88 that way even when you pay the full price.
That actually makes Bright Eyes the cheapest per treatment mask in the GlamGlow line up, because nothing else even in kits gets quite that low. Nothing makes my eyes look bright the way these do. I only use these when I have major dark circles under my eyes that concealer cannot hide, so one package easily lasts about a year. In the past year, I have not had 24 separate days where I felt compelled to hide dark circles. The trick to the mask is to keep the formula on for about five minutes. If you take the mask off at three minutes as it suggests, your eyes will not look as bright. When this is left on for more than five minutes, it is difficult to remove.
You also have to use water when you keep it on too long to remove the product. This has the best effect when you do not rinse the product off. After about five minutes, use a cotton pad to completely wipe the product away, then immediately go into applying eye serum or cream. Your eyes will look much brighter than if you rinsed the product away after you wiped it off. Some people say burning is never good and is a sign that the product is not helping you. For the first two minutes I use this, I do have a slight burning. My skin is sensitive and my pain threshold is small, but the burning is nothing I cannot handle. The effect is worth the slight and temporary pain.
Although I will occasionally purchase drugstore shave cream, I love Whish shave creams. Whish Blue Agave Shave Cream, an Ulta exclusive, is the best one I’ve tried so far. Some of the other scents are not as pleasing as this one, which has a very gentle smell. This shave cream brand gives an extremely close shave. The formula does not have a traditional lather, so it is tricky getting the hang of it. It is a thin coating and not a foam made mostly of air, so it also uses a lot less product. A jar of the same size foam would need more product to cover the area. Some people cut themselves more using this, because it lies on the skin in a thinner consistency than foams. You have to be careful when you first start using this.
Once you get the hang of it, you will cut yourself less. The formula makes the razor less slippery than the foam which glides faster. This formula also prevents my skin from drying out as much, because the coating is denser than the air like coating in foam. Its denser formula makes it harder to rinse the product out of the razor, but it also helps get an extremely close shave.
My skin gets really dry, which causes it to flake. The Real Chemistry 3-Minute Peel helps combat flakiness. It peels my skin quickly and efficiently. You can see and feel the skin coming off, so it is not at all like a peel where you’re unsure. After using this, I do not see dry patches at least for a few days. If you have dry, flaky skin, you have to try this. The peeling starts almost right as you start rubbing, so the formula is strong.
Mascaras are not created equally. We all have different needs from our mascara, so that is actually good. Lancome CILS Booster has paired well with every mascara I’ve tried. The trick is applying the base and letting it sit for a bit before applying the mascara. If you apply mascara too soon after this, it will not work its magic as well. Applying mascara once this is too dry also makes it harder to put the mascara on. I usually apply the base, do my brows and come back and apply the mascara. That is usually the perfect amount of time between the two. It helps my lashes look thicker, longer, and more enhanced overall. I can even push this sample to almost six months of use, because it does not clump much. An added bonus is this applies white, so it helps emphasize spots you may have missed once you apply the mascara. White lashes really stand out more than your natural color.
